Elkie smiled brightly as Seath came closer, appearing to listen to her demonstration. Darting over to Seath's outstretched leg, she tied both ends of the trapeze together a little ways down the rope. Using the loose ends, she tied it around his leg so the lower knot acted as a swivel. Testing it carefully, she was pleased to see it was working. Beaming, she said, "That should do the trick!" She was always proud of her knots- they wouldn't come undone very easily, and it would take more than her light weight to put stress on them.
"This is really all there is to it," she told L'kas and Seath michievously. She paused, looking up at Seath. "Can I get on him alone, or do you need to come?" she asked doubtfully. If she could convince L'kas to stay on the ground as she did her trapeze work, he wouldn't be able to stop her from toppling off of a flying dragon. She smiled to herself. Her dancing was much better to watch from the ground anyway. "I'll need to go very high," she muttered to herself, looking up. She needed to be sure she was up high enough so that when she dropped, Seath would be able to fly down quick enough to catch her. If he consented, of course.

L'kas watched as she affixed the trapeze to Seath's leg. After she was finished Seath brought his leg closer to his muzzle to look at it curiously, but careful not to undo any of her work, rumbling lightly what sounded like draconic laughter of delight. L'kas couldn't help but grin at his bronze's reaction. He turned his attention back to Elkie and looked thoughtful. Seath tilted his head I will take care of her mine. If she wants to let her. Please ridermine. Seath continued to assure his rider that he would watch over her until L'kas finally gave in.
L'kas looked at Elkie "I don't think any of the riders at the weyr would approve, but Seath assures me he will look after you and I trust him so I will let you just this once," he said firmly, but a smile hovering at the corners of his mouth.

Elkie grinned wildly as L'kas gave her a hesitant okay to do so. Yesss! "Thank you, L'kas!" she said very sweetly, making no mention of her plans to him. She would only ask Seath once they were up in the air, so he wouldn't let it slip to his rider that Elkie didn't just have aerial dancing in mind at the moment. She knew she'd get in trouble just thinking about it! she thought wickedly.
Walking happily to Seath's back, she tied the rope firmly around her middle so that she wouldn't tumble off the dragon before she would mean to. Looking to L'kas for permission, she carefully mounted the bronze, looking down and giving L'kas a thumbs-up. "All right, Seath, when we get up there, just hold out your trapeze leg straight so it'll keep me stable, okay?" she said merrily. "Let's go!"

L'kas watched as Elkie made her way up onto Seath's back then backed up slowly. He shook his head slightly "If anything happens to you Sitareh will kill me for letting it happen," he said, but smiled none the less. "Go ahead Seath," he told the bronze who crouched slight before leaping into the air. He beat his wings strongly until he was a good distance up, just barely within L'kas' sight range.
Seath held his wings open to ride the thermals and held the leg that had the trapeze tied to it out straight, keeping as steady as possible. He craned his head to look back at Elkie questioningly.

"Well, Sitareh is just going to have to get the stick outta her butt!" Elkie said cheerfully, not realizing how bold that statement was. Just as she pushed a stray strand of black hair out of her pale face, she whooped as she felt Seath move beneath her, then abruptly push up. She waved back down at L'kas as they soared up, and she grinned as they made it as high as they would go.
Carefully, Elkie crawled nimbly across Seath's back down to his outstretched leg. Pausing to a point where the wind wouldn't knock her off course, she leapt to the trapeze with ease, smiling happily. Now she was back where she belonged! she thought wildly. Bobbing her head to give her a steady beat, she draped one long leg across the trapeze, and used the other leg to give her a good, forceful spin. That done, she began to flow into the motions, gracefully heaving up, dancing along the trapeze and twisting herself into the rope, letting herself hang in those positions for moments at a time.
Finally, she innocently asked, "Seath, if I were to fall, would you catch me?" She kept her voice low enough for only Seath to hear her, keeping the image of just remaining in one of those hanging positions to any spectators. She could feel butterflies in her stomach flutter about in her excitement. All depended now on if Seath gave her an affirmation...

Seath watched as Elkie scrambled down the trapeze and hummed softly. He did his best to keep his leg steady, beating his wings every now and then to keep them at the right altitude as he circled the beach where L'kas was looking up to watch.
He was a bit surprised by her sudden question, but rumbled an affirmative Of course I would catch you, thats a silly question He told her with a slight snort.
L'kas had to squint slightly to see what was going on above him. He nodded a bit in appreciation of how the girl moved, holding his breath a few times as he watched.

Elkie grinned wickedly. "You sure?" she asked, the excitement almost bursting from her frame. She twirled in the trapeze once again, looking down at L'kas. She couldn't see his expression, but she hoped that he liked it. It was rewarding as a dancer when people couldn't take their eyes away from her as she moved serenly through the steps.
"Get ready, then!" she told Seath cheerfully. Undoing her rope, and held onto the trapeze by her knees, watching cheerfully as the rope that had been tied around her waist swung away from her and back like a pendulum.
In one quick movement, she pulled her legs off the trapeze, now falling through the air. She was dancing! she thought wildly, attempting a pirouette midair. That done, she flipped sideways, twirling multiple times. Pulling herself up, she crouched, hoping that it would brace herself for landing on Seath- if he managed to catch her. But she wasn't frightened- she was bathing in sweet pools of ecstasy, finally dragon dancing!

Seath rumbled curiously at her for questioning his sincerity the snorted softly as she continued her dance. His rumbled turned into a bugle of alarm as the girl fell from the trapeze. On the ground L'kas yelled in shock, cursing loudly.
Seath tucked his wings and dived after the falling candidate, passing her. He flared his wings out to slow himself and maneuvered under Elkie, holding himself steady until he felt her land on his back. He hovered for a long moment and craned his neck to look back at her L'kas mine is going to be mad he informed her quietly as he slowly began to spiral his way the rest of the way down to the beach.
L'kas ran over to where Seath landed and stared up at her "What was that?!" he yelled, then paused to compose himself, shaking his head and even laughing "That was either really brave or really stupid, but I have a feeling that that was what you had planned the whole time." he said with a thoughtful look. He shook his head and smiled softly "It will take more convincing of your own dragon to do that because they'll be able to know what your plotting. Shards I can't be mad at your for getting that one past me and Seath," he said ruefully with a grin.

Elkie landed with a soft, ungraceful thud in a strange squat on Seath's back, proud of her work. Only now did she realize that her fingers were shaking- her heart was pounding in addition. She felt so giddy! Unable to wipe the grin from her face, she merely nodded as Seath warned her about being in trouble. "Well, he can't change the past, eh?" she asked in a sing-song voice, sliding into a sitting position. It amused her how her legs were shaking with the excitement when she had not been nervous at all.
Only now did she dare to look down to see how L'kas fared. Hopefully he didn't have a heartattack, she thought with more amusement than she normally would have. She waved merrily down at his figure. Shards, she was going to be in trouble, she thought cheerfully. Elkie wasn't worried about being in trouble- she could only expect it after all. As he descended, she let out a shaky whoop of happiness. Someday, that would evolve into actual dragon dancing! But for now, she would have to deal with what would probably evolve into an enraged bronzerider.
Landing, she slid off his back, bowing for her sole audience member as a true dancer should. "You like?" she asked wickedly, relieved that he wasn't scolding her for her actions. She didn't regret it, and that was all that mattered, right? She smiled simply as he commented she probably had it planned the whole time, but didn't reply- after all, it was obvious! "You're so easy to get through, you know," she told him, not cruelly, but more affectionately. After all, he was helping her further her goal! Elkie shrugged. "Why do you think I'm Standing?" she asked him after a moment, knowing that a dragon of her own would never turn her down- this was on her agenda from the very beginning!

L'kas put his hands on his hips and tilted his head as he studied her for a moment, his look thoughtful now that his initial shock and fear had worn off. Seath rumbled and lowered his head to very gently nudge his nose against Elkie's back. L'kas shook his head and grinned slightly "Is that the only reason you want to stand on the sands? If thats so you might want to practice more because you will have a very hard time trying to convince your lifemate to help you if you are in anyway unsure of what your doing," he told her honestly, he didn't want her to hurt herself or any dragon she might happen to impress.
Seath watched the two of them, sensing what his rider was up to. He rumbled with deep dragon laughter. L'kas grinned "And well sense you already did it with Seath and I, he and I are willing to let you practice with us if you want," he said, his look turning slightly stern "But you will have to finish your chores at the Weyr first and I will have to do whatever missions that the Weyrwoman assigns me. When I know when I can get away again I will let you know and we can come here." he offered with a grin, holding his hand out to her "Well?"
