((MONKEYFUZZ!! GET YOUR FUZZY BUTT IN HERE! ...Oh, other peeps are welcomed here too, lol. ^^))
The pen was left in confusion as the large predator landed on a ledge, a silent-still herdbeast in his talons. He stepped away from the edge, away from the sight of the prey that he eyed thoughtfully for a few seconds before turning his head. She couldn't see much as his neck lowered, and then his wings unfurled, blocking her view entirely. He always fed this way, so nobody- or thing- could see. Mostly it was to prevent the other herd beasts from seeing and panicking if he was hungry after wards; but she knew that he was also sparing her from having to see the mess of a dragon feeding.
The unharmed rider sighed and tore her gaze from the rather large brown. She instead turned her gaze down to the herd beasts, the stupid animals that were now grazing edgily below, keeping an eye on the large dragon cautiously. They knew death was right up there, and yet they still stayed below. It was almost as if they realized what was bound to happen, and they didn't do anything to change it. Did they give up already?
Flames enveloped her vision, cutting through her thoughts. Burned wood, smoking clumps of ash; pounding wings and pulsing bonfire, all of these alternating images flashed in her head until she was dizzy. Keldara grasped the edge of the railing she was leaning on and quickly closed her eyes.
Keldara. Her name brought relief and a soothing feeling, although the tone was sighed and slightly reprimanding. The images stopped. Try to think of something else. His voice ended and he continued to eat. She stared up at him, gaze unwavering, before grumbling something under her breath. She kicked up a stone with her foot, grasped it in her hand. She stared at it for a long time before tossing it into the pen. A herd beast lifted his head as it landed near him, turned to her and snorted. Then he continued to eat.
Was everyone here oblivious to the defeat the Weyr had just gone through?
