High above the lake a solitary green dragon appeared from between, her form briefly shrouded in a fine vapor from the cooler air of the nothingness she had just traveled through. It soon evaporated away under the warm sunlight as she began her slow decent unannounced. Her rider looked down to survey the Weyr below. The green took her leisurely time descending, her circles wide so that she and her rider could survey their new home. Her rider patted her gently on the neck, signaling for her to land, which she does near the lake. Her rider chuckled slightly at her choice of landing sites, but said nothing.
He removed his helmet and ran a gloved hand through his hair, the honey blond streaks of it catching the sunlight, as does the sprinkling of gray he has despite his 35 turns. He undid his straps and slid to the ground, resting for a moment against his green's side to remove his gloves. He soon removed his riding jacket as well as the sun warmed him up. The green gave a hum of delight as she slightly spread her wings to soak up the sun.
The rider chuckled slightly again "Aye it is warm here Greylith love," he murmured as he turned to look toward what he assumed were the lower caverns, placing one hand on his hip. "Might as well tell them who we are before they send someone out to investigate," he said with a sigh "And I might as well find the Weyrleaders."
Greylith lowered her head to nudge her rider gently in the back before doing as asked We are Greylith and her rider C'lyn. We seek the Weyrleaders. Mine is a Healer. We have come a long way forward.[/color] That said and done, she settled down to wait. C'lyn shook his head and looked toward the lake, better to wait and see where the Weyrleaders were then to go off hunting them and getting lost in a new weyr.

Caltrain strolled from the lower caverns, a mug of chilled redfruit juice at his lips. He'd spent the morning birthing chubby herdbeast calves ... two heifers and a bull whose dams had all chosen to deliver within hours of each other. He stretched his shoulders, which were bare to the warm sun, for he'd tossed his ruined tunic into the trash an hour before. With no time to change between deliveries, it had been so soaked in blood and afterbirth, that he was afraid the wild wherries might mistake him for carrion. Still, though, it had been a good morning, and a good omen ... three healthy births so soon after a healthy Hatching.
As he turned toward the lake, however, he stopped short. A green dragon sat there, one unfamiliar to him, and her rider appeared to be looking around curiously.
Caltrain blinked and looked back toward the Weyr, wondering if the green had notified anyone of her arrival. Certainly dragons did so as a matter of course?
The little herdsman trotted toward the newcomers, his uneven gait sloshing his juice all over the front of his trousers. Ah, well, at least that was washable. He halted before the greenrider, a dragon's length away.
"Hello, greenrider!" he said, trying to sound friendly, but sure that the surprise he felt must show on his face. "I am Caltrain, Beastmaster here at Araelen Weyr." Then, remembering his manners, he turned to bow to the green. "Greetings to you and your lovely dragon."

C'lyn looked up as he heard someone call out and smiled a bit, raising his arm in salute "Good day!" he called back, Greylith turning to look at the man. She tilted her head and gave a soft rumble as he bowed to her. Her eyes whirled slowly and calmly as she inclined her wedge shaped head then stretched her neck out to sniff toward him.
C'lyn walked closer so they wouldn't have to speak too loudly and held his hand out "I am C'lyn and that curious Green there is Greylith. We just arrived." he said with a lopsided grin. "Greylith had just announced our arrival and asked where the Weyrleaders were when you called out," he explained, not wishing the man to think them renegades or some such.

Caltrain smiled as the lovely green sniffed toward him. Though he'd lived with dragons for some time now, it was always an honor when one showed him attention. He'd grown to be not only fond of the species, but fiercely protective of them, taking his task of producing quality food for them very seriously. He'd even been in a brawl not long ago, when he'd gone to the mainland for supplies, and a young and arrogant holder was bad-mouthing dragonkind. He absently reached up to rub the jawline that had returned to the Weyr with deep bruises and a hairline fracture.
"Though our Weyrwoman Sitareh is ... very busy of late, I'm sure Weyrleader M'kel is nearby and will greet you shortly. In the meanwhile, it would be rude of me not to ask if your Greylith is hungry ... as well as her rider." He nodded his head respectfully to C'lyn, and then turned it to indicate the feeding pens far across the Bowl. "Those farthest pens, the largest ones, hold the beasts that are ready for hunting, and there are always fresh klah and a variety of baked goods on the hearth."

Another gloriously lazy day had dawned, and Tirenth was rumbling in content on his weyrledge, having just feasted on plentiful wherries and herdbeasts. "You're not going to move for a week after that gluttony," M'kel drawled, surprising himself with a spot of work. He was happily secluded within his weyr, oiling his riding straps with due diligence. After all, he and Tirenth might need to go flying again.
This thought was met with a chuckle, as the Weyrleader's arrogance only seemed to grow with the passing of time. He recognized that it was occurring, and of course he adored flying with Tirenth, but there was such luxury in...doing nothing.
Weyrleader...see....k-healing....forward... A sleepy voice brushed M'kel's mind, and he slowly rotated to stare in consternation at his bronze.
"I'm keeling forward? You oaf, I'm sitting right here! What are you dreaming about now?" The bronzerider continued to stare at his bronze's slowly rising and falling stomach, the only part of Tirenth visible when lolled out on his side. This elicited no response, so M'kel stood up and strode over to nudge his bronze. Before this was necessary, though, he spotted a green flash in the Bowl below.
Greylith.... was Tirenth's reluctant addition.
Ahhhh, a new arrival. Well why didn't you just say that? Shaking his head, M'kel glanced at the bronze once more. No, it certainly seemed he would be walking today. Thus, the rider turned and proceeded down the stairs to the Bowl. There was no way Sitareh was tending to this. She was likely out at a beach, once again, spending her day in the sun. Not that M'kel didn't wish he was there with her...
Arriving at the bottom, he strode across the Bowl to meet the newcomer. The Weyr's Beastmaster had already greeted the fellow, and M'kel appreciated the prompt response to a potential invader. Dragonriders were constantly trickling forward from Artemis, but it didn't mean that Araelen was a free-for-all.
"C'lyn!" he called, grinning broadly as he stepped forward to greet the man with an arm clasp. "So you finally decided to join the party?" M'kel cast an appraising eye over Greylith, fulfilling a Weyrleader's duty. Fighting dragons were much in demand, and a healthy, experienced addition would be appreciated. "You filled the capacity of Weyrhealer back at Artemis, didn't you?" To be perfectly honest, M'kel had paid little attention to such things in his time there. He had been much more interested in having the young, female, assistant healers tend to his brave injuries suffered during his service to Pern.

(Sorry for the delay in posting))
Greylith glanced in the direction of the feeding pens with a soft rumble. She was indeed hungry, but she would wait with her rider until she knew for sure they could call this place home. She stepped closer behind her rider and leaned her head around his side to look more closely at the Beast Master, crooning softly as she leaned her head closer to him, she liked the little man already.
C'lyn was a bit surprised to hear who the weyr leader was, but he only nodded his appreciation to Caltrain's hospitality and was about to respond when he heard his name called out. He smiled softly and clasped the bronze rider's arm in return "Ah M'kel it is good to see you!" he said with a slight lop sided grin. He knew more of the man then knew him personally. He had made it his duty at Artemis to know who the riders were and who they were bonded to, it made his job as healer a touch easier.
Greylith noticed that she was being looked over and straightened, looking back toward the man with slowly whirling eyes. She was fit and well muscled for a green with grace written all over her. She was agile in the air if that was what he was wondering. She snorted once then turned her attention back to Caltrain.
C'lyn nodded to M'kel "Aye I've decided to join, wasn't anything for me to stay at Artemis anymore," he said softly, clearing his throat after a moment "And aye, I was the Weyr Healer there. I have to admit I was a bit surprised to hear that you were Weyrleader here, congratulations to you and Tirenth," he said with a respectful bow of his head.
