Music in the air (another topic)

One day, Kera decided to socialize more with people in the weyr, and maybe make new friends. So, when Kera was eating breakfast, with Lyric in her lap, she pulled out her guitar and played a tune that was her favorite. Lyric started quietly humming the beat. It was a nice touch to the dining room. Then, she started to sing another song's verse that she created that night:

"Lyrics, songs and singing
Poetry, memorizing...
The Harper's way to go"

Then, after that Kera stopped and chatted with people in the room.

Anya ambled into the lower caverns, her eyes scanning the tables hopefully for a tray of meatrolls. She was in luck, for there they were, perhaps a bit stale, but there, nonetheless! Anya quickly moved over, and Raziel trailed along behind her, flying through the air in great swoops like a little bird. The little sapphire-colored firelizard trilled cheerfully, and settled upon his bonded’s shoulder as she stopped before the tray.

The weyrling grinned at him, and picked up a meatroll. She tore off a small chunk, and shoved it unceremoniously into his wide-open mouth, and the blue chewed eagerly, his eyes whirling a happy apple green. She bit off a piece for herself, her jaws working to break down the slightly stale food. As an afterthought, she glanced down at her hands, and frowned at the dirt she saw. With a shrug, the redhead wiped them on her pants, and happily went back to eating.

She was quite hungry, as she hadn’t eaten anything yet. As she often did, she had run out that morning to feed Lyonesth and tend to her dragon that she had neglected to pick up breakfast for herself. Her hunger now abating, Anya was conscious of music in the lower caverns. Oh, they had a new harper? She had heard Minelli playing before, but the girl was a weyrling now too, and had less time to entertain the weyr. Anya’s face lit up as she listened to the music. This new harper was very good! She threw her arms out and spun in a circle, twirling to the music, much to the surprise of Raziel. With an indignant squawk, he was sent flying from her shoulder, and recovered with a few sweeps of his wings. But the irrepressible flit was not the type to hold a grudge, and rather, he joined his bonded in delight, wheeling in acrobatic circles in the air.

Once the music stopped, Anya trotted over to where the harper sat to introduce herself. “Hi there! That was a nice song you were playing; I don’t think I’ve heard it before! My name’s Anya, weyrling to green Lyonesth. Nice to meet you!”

Kera smiled at the girl that had just come up to her." Hello Weyrling Anya, nice to meet you to! Thank you! yes, the song I was just playing is a new song I created" Kera replied. " My name is Kera and I'm new here." Lyric flew in all the sudden and Landed on Kera's shoulder. " Oh! and this is my firelizard friend, Lyric!" Kera said introducing him to Anya. "Kellis my feline friend should be coming in a minute" Kera let Lyric have a bit of her food. Lyric then saw another blue firelizard and got shy. he wrapped his tail around Kera's neck. Kera laughed. "You have a flitter too? What is his name?" Kera asked. then Kera pulled out her flute ready to play it. "Would you like me to play you another Song on my flute?" Kera asked.

Kera started to play her flute and Lyric hummed quietly and Kellis, who had just came in and was under the table ignored the music, like always. Her guitar was leaning on the side of her chair since she always carried it around. Like always, too, her flute sounded great.

“You write your own songs?” Anya asked, impressed. After all, she had no musical talent whatsoever herself! “It’s nice to meet you.” She said as Kera introduced herself. She took a swift step back as a blue firelizard appeared quite suddenly, joining Kera. Raziel peered at him with interest, and chirped a cheerful greeting.

“Oh, you have a blue firelizard too?” Anya exclaimed. “Yours is so cute!” As Kera inquired about Anya’s blue, she glanced over at the flit on her shoulder. “Oh, him?” She reached up and grabbed him, wrapping her hands around his belly as she held him out for Kera to see. “This is Raziel!” She said, a wide grin on her face. The firelizard in question squirmed uncomfortably, squawking his protest at being held so. With a laugh, she let him go, and he remained in the air, whirling happily in aerial circles in time to Kera’s music.

Anya looked impressed when Kera had told her she writes her own music,Kera thought while playing her flute. Her firelizard was named Raziel, Anya had told Kera. Good name,Kera thought.

Then Kera really started to get into the music. She closed her eyes and imagened a world where there was no thread, no fighting and there was always laughter. There was always a smile glanced your way and everybody never died and people were always happy. The skies would be light sea blue and the grass would be light green. There were clear lakes and clear oceans, so you could see the bottom of them.

Kera didn't relized that Kellis started to sway to the amazing music, whitch he had never done. Then Kera got hit in the face by a new song to write. There was a pause while Kera grabbed her guitar and played her new song that had just hit her a second before. The two verses Kera really liked:

Sing the song of Welcome
In hall and hold
and in the Weyr
Sing the song of happiness
Through out the Seasons
And if the song disappears.....
Sing the song of what once was there.

Sing the song of laughter
That swims in hearts and souls
That happiness grows and grows and grows
