After the successful Hatching, Sitareh decided to return the gold Wher Neisk and her handler Neima to their Hold, as a gesture of good will to appease the Holders. However, nothing Sitareh does is purely out of generosity; she forced Neima to feed the wher firestone before departing. The Holder will never know his gold wher is now likely sterile.
This removal of the one authority figure in the Wherhandlers' Caverns has left the new group with an opening to fill. So long as they obey Sitareh's orders and take turns standing guard at night, the Weyrwoman and the Weyr's other dragonriders could care less how the Handlers manage themselves.
Thus, it is time for a new hierarchy to be established. The bronzehandlers and goldhandler have suddenly found themselves with the opportunity to take control. They can demand obeisance quite easily, with no one else to regulate their actions.
How far will these self-declared leaders go? Will life for the other Wherhandlers become even worse, something they never imagined possible? Does power always corrupt absolutely?
It's time to find out. ;)
