Araelen Weyr's first Weyrwoman and founder, Sitareh, has fallen ill. This correspondence with her queen's recent Flight caused many to suspect pregnancy, but there was no word of confirmation from Sitareh or the new Weyrleader, M'kel, rider of bronze Tirenth. Once the time had come for Aviciath to lay her Clutch, and there was no visible evidence to support this theory, the Weyrfolk realized that the illness must be just that: an illness.
Although this has hampered Sitareh's plans for expanding her power throughout the Weyr, the Weyrwoman has adapted to her new state by sending orders through drudges and dragonriders alike. With a nearly constant stream of Weyrfolk into and out of her weyr, Sitareh has guaranteed that she remains in control of her Weyr.
The new Weyrleader is also playing a major role in Sitareh's plans. M'kel easily agreed, as young, smitten men often do, to aid her by acting as her physical representative when she is otherwise detained. Thus, he is under strict orders for his future conduct, for Sitareh desires to continue in her drive for autocracy. At pivotal moments, she has even demanded that he repeat, word-for-word, her comments, relayed to him through Aviciath.
The Clutch is hardening upon the sand, and Sitareh has called for an Analysis of the Candidates. Only those she deems worthy of standing before her great Aviciath's Clutch will be allowed to do so. This is why she has had her dragonriders scouring the planet for likely candidates, for Sitareh desired plenty of choice.
The candidates have been called to the Hatching Ground, where a gold egg nestles amongst a ring of others. Females beware: Sitareh has planned to be extra careful in her choice of female candidates. She doesn't want her power to be threatened by another, strong-willed goldrider, so she will dismiss any she views as potential threats.
If you have any particular plot ideas for how you would like the Analysis of your candidates to go, please PM M'kel regarding them. Keep in mind that there are a lot of candidates, so the interaction with yours may be brief.
