Hi all!
The news is somewhat sadder to report today, for Shame may be 'kinda disappearing' for a time. That is, she doesn't know if she'll be able to post much in the time to come, for she is undergoing some personal stress. Hopefully, she will soon be able to wrap up the Flight, but I will be taking over many of the Moderator duties in the next while.
Shikai will be helping me a bit, as I've granted her Unofficial Moderator status, which basically means that she will be able to temporarily/permanently approve characters, as well as aid in posting in Hatchings (as she's already done once). Other than that, I will continue to plan the pending Hatching and events to come.
As for the Hatching, we have some exciting news to announce!
Araelen Weyr is proud to introduce the original and unique addition to hatchlings, of........dragon abilities! There will be a few key areas that your dragons will be granted skills in, and this will be done as evenly as possible (although we must keep in mind that there are a few, exceptionally gifted individuals in the world). These abilities will aid your dragons in a number of areas, including Threadfall, life in general, and the soon-to-be-explained-in-another-announcement Dragon Tournaments!
Now that I've got you all twitching with eagerness, I'll list the abilities that we've settled on so far. Please note, this list may be subject to change in the next few days as we finalize things.
Dragon Abilities
Strength
Agility
Allure
Creativity
Team Coordination
Rescue Ability
An explanation of the relevance of these to Dragon Tournaments will be provided at a later time. At this time, the Character Applications will be modified to include a section for requesting particular abilities. As your characters have already been approved, I will open up your character applications to allow these additions to be made. Please, under colour preference, add an 'Ability Preference:' field. List your top three choices. This will need to be done for every character. Sorry for the inconvenience!
As well, we will now be preparing brief personality and appearance descriptions for every dragonet, in order to add variety and hopefully give you direction for the development of your dragon. It is a shame that many dragon-rider relationships fall by the wayside of rider-rider relationships, and this will hopefully aid in improving that statistic! Don't worry, we aren't going to give you anything set in stone. Dragons can change through time, just as people can. If you feel particularly strongly about how you would like your dragon's personality to be (ex. a shadow of the rider's, or contrasting sharply with the rider's for conflict-sake), feel free to private message me regarding this, and I will see how I can incorporate your ideas.
Oh, as one final note: Dragon Tournaments will be an opportunity to earn IC marks, as requested by multiple members.
Hope you all enjoy our exciting plans! I know I can't wait to get started!
