(Via a hyper brown flitter who it may take a while to calm down to retrieve the message, due to his excitement at a successful delivery!)
Dear Trilia,
How does your leg feel? I still can't believe I broke it... I hope it's healing well. Can you put any weight on it yet? My arm is pretty pathetic so far... On that note, I apologize if this is terribly hard to read; I'm not the neatest writer with my left hand.
I'm writing this in our lesson right now, I'm ashamed to say! You're actually just sitting a couple of seats in front of me, no doubt dutifully listening to every word of the lesson. Don't worry, though, I'm not being neglectful! The Candidatemaster is going on and on about Herdbeast anatomy for feeding dragonets, and, well, I learned all this in my first year at the Herder Hall. As well,
--- Sorry, I can't remember what I was starting to write! The Candidatemaster just asked me a question. I hope he didn't notice me jump...
Oh! And I still can't believe that your Dad is the Candidatemaster, of all things. Maybe that's why he's looking at me like that right now... I did nearly crush his daughter. I hope he won't decide that I can't stand at the Hatching. Do you think it'll be okay? Was he very upset?
Oooh, the Hatching is so close! I can't wait! I'm so excited. The dragonets will be amazing, I'm sure. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I know, and I only hope I'll be lucky enough to be chosen. I just know you'll Impress! The dragons will love you. How could they not?
Well, the lesson's nearly over. If I can't slip this note to you on my way out, I'll send it by Flitter Mail.
Meet me at the Lake later!

Dear Retivor,
My leg isn't bad, thank you for asking. The healer said I was lucky, that it was a clean break and set quickly, so it shouldn't be a problem either. I've just recently started putting weight on it again, but I still need to use one crutch! Oh I do hope your arm gets better soon. I'm sorry, I'm certain you would have been fine if I hadn't come blundering under your tree...And please don't worry, your handwriting is perfectly legible. Maybe you'll be able to write well with both hands by the time your arm is finished healing!
Silly, you're going to get yourself in trouble doing that! I didn't know you were at the Herder Hall before Araelen. Were you there for very long? I always liked the runnerbeasts, but was too afraid to ever ride one. It's silly really; I look at a little 'beast and I'm scared, but put me in front of a dragon many times it's size and I won't blink an eye.
Oh see, I told you you'd get in trouble! I'm sure he thought you were just taking notes. How very studious you must seem! I think I had started to doze off around then.
I suppose it is a little strange when I think about it, Daddy being CandidateMaster. He only just got appointed when we came to Araelen, but I'm proud of him. Oh goodness, I'm sure he wouldn't stop you from standing! Daddy get's concerned easily, but I'm sure he's not cross with you. After all, you did help me back to the Healers when I couldn't go alone. That was quite gentlemanly of you. Thank you again, really.
Goodness I know! I can scarcely breath when I think about it, I'm so excited! Oh I'm certain you'll be chosen! I can't imagine any dragon turning you down, even the mightiest of all would have to admit you're a good person. Do you think Well I Actually I've already You're too kind, I only hope I'll be half as lucky as I know you'll be.
(This last bit of the letter is written hastily, barely legible) Speaking of Hatchings, I'm afraid I'll have to send this half finished! The humming's just begun, how exciting! I'll send this to you later. Congratulations when you Impress!

Dear Trilia,
I can't belive you Impressed a gold! Well, I mean, I can believe it, since you're perfect for being a goldrider, but I'm still so amazed and happy for you! I guess you're going to be pretty busy now, being a Jr. Weyrwoman. Maybe we can still find some time to meet up, though? Introduce our dragons outside of lessons?
Oh, my dragon! Her name is Aramunith. Oh, you probably know that...but I just love saying it, writing it! She's just...absolutely gorgeous. I can't believe I Impressed. I know lots of people don't, and others have to wait Turns to actually find their dragon, but she found me right away! She's sleeping right now, actually, which is why I have a moment to write. Just beautiful... By Faranth, I never want to leave her side. I don't even want to sleep! I just want to watch her and make sure she doesn't disappear when I blink.
Argh...Sprite's really excited to have joined the Flitter Mail Squad (plus I think she appreciates the attention from others, now that mine's being a bit diverted...), and she's nibbling at my hand to try and get me to hurry. I really am actually getting quite tired now. It was a long day of lessons with Ara. But we should really plan to do something next free day! Do you think you'd be available?
By the Egg, I'm so happy we're Weyrlings together! Talk to you later!
Your friend,
Ret R'tivor

Dear R'tivor,
Thank you! And congradulations to you as well! I told you that you would Impress. Goodness, I can scarcely believe I Impressed myself! It's a wish come true. I was almost afraid to go to sleep after the Hatching, fearing I might wake up from the best dream ever! Oh I do hope we can still meet up! I would love to introduce Helennith properly. She's such a sweetheart, I think you might just like her.
Aramunith is such a pretty name! And I know exactly what you mean, rest assured. If I could I would just sit with her every single moment! She's just so...so perfect! Oh but I'm sure Aramunith is lovely as well! You're very luck to have Impressed your first time...I could wait a thousand more Hatchings though so long as my Helennith was waiting at the end of them. Though I fear my heart would break to wait so long! I scarcely lasted two!
Well rest assured Sprite performed admirably in her mission. I gave her an extra sweet roll, I hope you don't mind. Ronin enjoyed her visit too, I think. He's been a little sore you see, about having to share me with Helennith! But he's beginning to settle down, and I often catch him sleeping with her now, the silly thing.
I would love to get together! Weyrling lessons don't leave much room for conversation I'm afraid. Perhaps we can bring Aramunith and Helennith to the lake?
Isn't it all just amazing? Congratulations again!
