Kinga was out wandering the beaches, already bored with being home. She always enjoyed it for the first few days. A home cooked meal was nice, and she did like seeing her brothers, assuming they were on break too. But after a while, she started to long to be on the sea again. There just wasn't much to do around here for fun. It wasn't like she had many friends to visit with, either. Most of the girls her age seemed ditzy and immature.
And so Kinga found herself walking alone, strolling along the shore. It was a pleasant day, and she couldn't resist the water for long. Stripping down to her undergarments, she left her clothes on a rock and then waded in. Reaching deeper water, she started to swim, her strokes strong and even.

Myari looked down at the Hold slowly coming into better view as her blue circled down slowly, taking his time to give his rider a good look around. This wasn't the hold they were assigned to sweep, but Myari was raised as a fisher and she enjoyed visiting any hold where fishing was possible. Valyiath didn't mind, he greatly enjoyed swimming in the sea at any time.
As they circled lower, Myari could just barely make out some one in the water. She smiled and shifted in her straps as Valyiath tucked his wings to quicken his descent, angling toward the water now instead of the hold. Myari frowned slightly and was about to ask her blue what he was up to when the splashed into the water. Myari gasped and coughed as they came up from the brief dive into the water. Valyiath what on Pern were you thinking! You're going run these straps and that will just make L'kas fuss at us again, despite her scolding of the blue, she was also laughing.
She pulled her helmet and goggles off, brushing her wet blond hair out of her face. She had recently cut it, the ends just brushing at chin level. She glanced around, looking for the figure they had seen in the water, pretty sure her blue had scared that person with his antics. I think she would make a good candidate mine Valyiath informed his rider, in no way repentant for what he had done, he knew his rider loved the water as much as he.
Myari chuckled and shook her head, shading her eyes with a hand as she looked around for the girl, since her blue had said she.

Kinga flipped onto her back to float and was surprised to see a blue dragon flying above. She grinned and waved, although the dragon probably couldn't see. Right now, her family wasn't too happy with dragonriders because of the way they had dealt with the last Threadfall, but Kinga didn't care about politics. Dragons were just plain cool!
Suddenly, the blue dove, plummeting straight down into the water. Kinga yelped as a wave dunked her underwater. She came up spluttering, flailing to get her balance again, but she wasn't scared. Kinga was laughing. In fact, she wanted to get closer.
Swimming up to the blue, Kinga called up to the rider. "Hi! That was some dive," she said cheerfully.

Myari looked down at the girl called up to her and smiled, laughing as she waved down to the girl. "Thanks! Valyiath likes to show off," she said, grinning lopsidedly as she unstrapped herself. She shrugged out of her riding jacket and made a face at the wet hide. "Though he didn't have to get my nice jacket all wet," she muttered mostly to herself. She shook her head and turned her attention to the girl in the water.
"I'm Myari from Araelen and this is my Valyiath," she said as she leaned down, smiling to to girl in the water. The blue bugled softly in greeting, turning his head to look at Kinga with a slowly whirling eye, watching her.
You're sure she'll make a candidate? Myari asked of her blue. She smiled brightly as she remembered her own search. Well, it hadn't been official one, rather L'kas had drug her to the weyr in hopes that she would make a good candidate. She shook her head and patted Valyiath's neck.
I am sure mine. Have I been wrong before? her asked, sounding hurt. Myari laughed and shook her head again. No you haven't she reassured the blue.
"Lets go to the shore so we can speak more easily. I'll give you a lift," she said, holding her hand down to the girl.
