Character Name: A'idin (Born Aridin)
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Preference: Females
Previous Position: Wingsecond
Current Position: Brown Rider
Appearance: A'idin stands 6' with a trim, athletic build. His eyes are a deep blue and his hair is a sandy blond with natural blond streaks that get lighter the more time he spends in the sun. He has a darker complexion from time spent in the sun and the right mixing of genes. He has a jagged scar running from high on his left temple, across his left eye, and down the side of his nose to his upper lip. His wears a patch over his left eye since he lost all vision in that eye from the slice that gave him the scar.
Personality: A'idin is very boisterous and has a wicked sense of humor. But he also has a vicious temper. It takes a little bit to get him mad, but once he is it takes even longer for him to cool down. It was his temper that earned him the scar and eye patch that he wears as badges of honor, his opponent suffering far worse.
History: He was born to Brown rider A'rew and Green rider Adrianna of Artemis weyr. His conception was merely because his father's brown had caught his mother's green in her mating flight. After the flight his parents had nothing to do with each other, other then passing greetings when the passed each other or spoke of Thread fall. His mother could have easily aborted him, since she was not really a very motherly person, but she chose to carry him to term just to see if perhaps he would invoke those feelings, he didn't. She named him Aridin and passed him along to a wet nurse and foster mother as soon as she was able. He has no siblings that he knows of since his mother died the following Thread Fall after his was born. If his father sired any more children he doesn't know. He was told who his parents were, but he never met them. He doesn't really resent his parents or thinks they abandoned them, feeling that this was how weyr life was, it was all he know.
He grew up with the rest of the weyr brats, playing with them and day dreaming of the day he would be old enough to stand. The day finally arrived that he was finally able to stand as a candidate and he could hardly wait for the eggs on the sands to harden and hatch. He and a few of the braver candidates had sneaked onto the sands while the Queen was away feeding and there was no one around. They were giddy and drunk off of their sneaking around and awed by the sight of the eggs. They barely managed to get out of the Hatching grounds before the Queen returned. They all ran to their favorite hiding spot and collapsed into laughing fits at their own bravery, but soon the laughter turned into friendly arguments and bets.
The day finally arrived and Aridin could barely contain himself as he hurried onto the sands with the rest of the candidates, his heart thundering in his chest almost in time with the loud humming that seemed to vibrate through him. His eyes were glued to the eggs as he noticed them rocking, hearing nothing but the humming and the loudness of his own breathing as time seemed to stop for him as the first egg cracked open, spilling forth its bronze occupant. A bronze, a good omen for a hatching! Everything seemed to progress so quickly after that and he couldn't remember how long he had stood there before he heard the first whisper of another's thoughts touching his mind, a gentle loving touch that made him look for the source. There he stood, a beautiful Brown looking up at him, telling him that his name was Gaelrith and that he was so glad to have found his own A'idin. At the first touch of his dragon's mind he completely forgot about the friendly bets he had made with his friends. He led his Brown off to be fed and they both fell asleep curled up together, A'idin not wanting to be parted from his Gaelrith for anything.
He and Gaelrith passed through weyrling training with flying colors, putting him within the top three of the class. When he was allowed to fly thread he had been terrified and excited all at once, only Gaelrith helped him remain calm. He lost two friends in the follow 'Falls and this helped him double his resolve, soon earning him the position of Wing second.
After the Thread had stopped falling he became bored and would often get drunk and look for trouble to keep the boredom away. Gaelrith would chastise him, but A'idin would only sometimes listen. It was on one of those drunken nights that he got into a fight and the man he was arguing with pulled a knife. The sight of the knife quickly sobered A'idin up and only made him angerier, how dare someone pull a knife on a dragon rider. He said as much to the man who only laughed and spat at him, saying that Thread was gone they no longer needed Dragons and their riders. Those words made something in A'idin snap, always known for a bad temper, those made the world red and the next thing he knew there was blood on the left side of his face and he couldn't see out of that eye. He stared down at the man that had pulled the knife on him, laying motionless on the floor and his neck at an odd angle. He snorted and spat on the man's corpse before walking out, hoping this would teach holders that Dragon men were still better then them. It was not long after this that he had heard of Sitareh's brave leap forward and of those following her. He would have followed immediately, but he had to let his wounds heal so he could survive the long jump. Once they were finally healed he followed forward, needing to get to where he could fight thread again and people had respect for Dragon Men, If there was no respect he would teach it to them.
