Character Information[/u][/i]
Character Name:
N'yrl
Age:
Eighteen
Gender:
Male
Preference:
Both
Previous Position:
Apprentice Carpenter
Current Position:
Bluerider to Gryth
Appearance:
N'ryl is very much a twin to his older sister, though there are minor differences. He towers over most at an impressive six foot, three inches, but he carries himself in a way that makes him seem to melt into the crowd. His hair is a shaggy, dark black that is dull, with little sheen. Its uneven strands reach down to the base of his neck most of the time. His skin is not as richly olive as Cilnah's, but still contains a handsome hue. Eyes the color of jade peer out from behind bangs that could completely hide them if he so chose. His build is log, lanky. His limbs are a bit long for his torso, which makes him a bit clumsy, and thus his coordination is off. One thing about him, there is a silver dragon pendant that is always around his neck, the figure clutching a tiger's eye sphere in it's talons.
Personality:
Generally, N'yrl is a quiet, gentle person. He very rarely raises his voice over a loud murmur, and there isn't an instance in the memory of anyone except perhaps his sister where he has yelled at anyone. Though he has his own opinions on just about everything, he hardly ever voices them, unless asked directly, and even then he will keep his replies succinct and as word-less as possible. Now, don't get him wrong, he is not anti social. Really, he is just shy, and if someone works hard enough to get past his rough, cold exterior, they'll find a loving, kind boy the likes of which are hard to find. His actions are generally prodded by his fear that he will disappoint, and an old, old memory that he fears will repeat itself.
History:
Mother: Kinal - Cook
Father: Solte - Cleaner
Siblings:
-Cilnah - Female - Nineteen turns - Candidate
-Kinte - Male - Eleven turns
From the moment of his first memory, N'yrl has known that there were always two things he could count on in his life: rain, and disappointment. Based on these two things, he lived his life rather mildly, never going too far out of his way to push or prod anyone. After all, if he didn't want to go out of his own comfort zone, why would anyone else? That was his believe for the first half of his life. Meekly he did what he was told, never bothering to talk back except on the rare occasion, and even then there were usually extenuating circumstances. The only time he ever really seemed out of sorts was when he was feeling ill, and even then it wasn't noticeable unless you really knew him. Most of the time the only person who knew he wasn't feeling well was his sister, Cilnah.
He held the girl in near reverence. Though only a year older, he felt that she knew everything about everything, and never questioned her judgment. To his eyes, she could do no wrong. Even when it came to the point that most of the other boys in the weyr were separating from their families and moving off to do their own things, whether that be learning a trade or getting into trouble, the young N'yrl stayed by his sister's side unerringly. Due to the fact that Cilnah had been a babysitter to most of his peers, he never suffered much from ridicule. At least not to his face, and none that he became aware of. There were the rare occasions that she would come home scuffed and bruised, but she always waved off those times with a grin and laugh, telling him that she'd been her usual clumsy self. He had never argued, but secretly he knew that this was a lie. His sister was the most graceful, un-clumsy person he had ever met. He admired her for that.
But, as with all things, there comes a time when comfort and regularity must come to an end. And for N'yrl, this moment came during a terrible storm, amidst the humming welcome of dragons. He was a mere twelve, standing amidst Candidates, most older than him, though his sister was there as well, and that gave him some comfort. He had not yet gained his height, and as of now felt unbelievably small faced with his peers and the eggs, dragons, and especially the Queen-mother that stood guard over her precious children. And, as he stood shivering in the rain, with mist roiling up around him from the heat of the sands, he saw what he thought must be a nightmare unfold before him. Several of the Hatchings occurred without incident, and then, with a mighty crack, a saphire blue emerged onto the world. But almost at the same instant, there was a painful shout, and a clamor from the female candidates. His attention instantly diverted, he felt the worst feeling he had ever experienced, and to this day nothing has matched it. For there, in front of his very jade eyes, his beloved sister collapsed to the Sands, a crimson stain flowering on her white robes.
All thoughts of Impression forgotten, N'yrl scrambled to his sister's side, falling to his knees beside the motionless body and gently moving a wall of hair from her face, revealing a deep wound that spanned about the size of his younger brother's palm. For the first time in his life, he felt tears pooling in public, the guilt he felt deep in his chest more than any he could imagine. And then there was a voice in his mind, crooning his soft, soothing melody, trying to calm His. N'yrl looked up into the whirling eyes of the blue that was newly hatched and secretly, deep within his heart, a place not even his dragon could reach, the guilt grew.
For the next three days he would not leave Cilnah's side, and when she finally awoke, he realized his guilt was justified, for in the most fleeting of glances when she heard about his Impression, the young boy saw a flicker of jealousy. From that moment on he had distanced himself, learning of the dragonriders and their ways, avoiding his sister whenever possible. He would not force his presence upon her, for though she hid it well, he knew that she was jealous of him, and in his own mind, that jealousy grew into a hatred. Especially when his mother refused to let the girl stand any more.
And so things went for four years, as N'yrl went from weyrling to dragonrider, until there were whispers of a chance, of a possibility. There was a Queenrider who wanted to leave this place, to start a weyr of her own! And she needed others to go with her, to make this new weyr successful. And in N'yrl's mind, finally there was a way to make things right with his sister. Finally he could get back the closeness that he had not allowed himself with anyone other that Gryth since that moment in the resting room.
Once the plan was fully formed, he went into action. He went to his parents, begged an audience with them, and from there proceeded to plead, pouring forth his guilt, and every argument he had come up with to convince. For he had never admitted his guilt to anyone, and this came as a shock to his parents. It took most of the day, and there were many tears shed by all three of the people in audience, but eventually his mother agreed. And with that, things were finally in motion to put things to rights again. Now all that was left was to wait and see, for only time would tell if the future held a better memory then the past...
Position in Family:

A few fingerlings that he usually forgets to feed.

Rebel

Dragon Information[/i][/b]
Dragon Colour:
Blue
Dragon Personality:
Gryth is a caring dragon in every sense of the word. Though he would like to be an introvert, the fact that His was one as well forced him to be the more extroverted of the pair. His mind is sharp, and he is a soft spoken in every sense. He is constantly wary of upsetting His, though the boy seemed to have his emotions well under control, and hidden behind a locked door that he would allow none to open. The blue, though large for his size, holds no arrogance towards others, and quite often will back down even when he knows he is in the right. Conflict is not his desire.
