Application:
Character Name: Rhea
Age: 12
Gender: female
Preference: either one (not that she's really hit puberty all that hard yet, so really, she shouldn't be doing that sort of thing!)
Previous Position: holdbrat; weyrbrat
Current Position: candidate
Appearance: Her red hair is always kept very long and almost always very straight. It's her own little feminine rebellion, to show that even though she lived without her mother, she could be a girl. Ree's blue eyes are much colder than she is, but they easily show her laughter, if nothing else. She's what one would call petite for her age, at just over four and half feet tall, and a skinny 60 lbs makes her a prize any self-respecting male would love to have.
Personality: Rhea was born a naive child. She believed she could stay a child forever just because she liked it better than what she saw adults around her doing. She didn't want to have to worry about what other people said all the time, because it was more fun to act like she had done when she was a small child. She has an inherent fear of growing up.
Ree is one of the most feminine girls you could ever meet. She expects everyone to love her and her beauty. She's kind of conceited, but in a lovable way, because she doesn't realize she's doing it.
She's a very idealistic person, like thinking that because she likes kids, she should just have a baby right then and she'd be happy. She has no sense of reality, especially when it comes to other people. Some would say she just doesn't care how they feel, but really, she hasn't ever realized that other people can feel. She will also trust almost anyone, She'll trust just about any woman on the face of the earth, and guys who seem really innocent (a lot more than actually are innocent). This leads to the obvious result that she'll fall in love quite easily. If she thinks she loves someone, they actually have feelings. Magically.
She usually treats her friends like puppies, because when she was small, they behaved rather like puppies. She's never really had a close friend, but it's unlikely she would treat him or her much better than acquaintances.
She really likes kids, learning, romanticism, writing poetry that she is convinced is horrible, not that she'd ever show it to anyone, dreams, dancing in the rain, weather, having someone to take care of her, and animals. She's a real animal person.
She hates forgetting her dreams when she wakes up. She also hates growing up. She is so far from a vegetarian it's funny. She's almost afraid of vegetables. She really is afraid of growing up, and falling out of a tree.
History: Friya and Ricoa were simple folk; Friya lived comfortably on Ricoa's salary as a herder for a hold. Well, not comfortably, per se, but it was livable. She wasn't going to work, anyway. Her sole purpose, in her mind, was to bear children and be taken care of. So she went about bearing a child. Unfortunately, Rhea was the first and only child she would bear because giving birth to Rhea killed her.
Rhea, the star of our little story, grew up without a mother. The little girl thus never got the education most mothers give their daughters, about such things as modesty and accepting gifts and love and all those other good lessons. Sharing was the one thing her father did teach her, after one of the other children broke her wrist trying to take a ball from her that she didn't want to give. He would have done more except that he was busy trying to make the few marks that they lived on in a year.
It wasn't until she was around ten years old that she realized why the girls all gave her funny looks and she was only friends with the boys. It was shortly after she and her father had been transferred to the new weyr. She had gone up to one of the young ladies to get a snack, and the girl had said that they didn't give candy to girls who acted like boys. She'd never known before that girls didn't act like boys. So she went about feminizing herself. She started wearing traditional girls clothing to meals like the other girls did (she'd always thought they liked wearing the stuff) and found that she quite liked being girly.
The girl always had a fascination with animals, especially the dragons. From the day she started talking, she was asking her father why he wasn't a dragonrider so she could play with the dragon, even though she knew as well as anyone that the dragons weren't there anymore. She wanted a dragon so badly, that there was really nothing the man could do for her except to let her become a candidate like she so desired. As soon as her twelfth birthday rolled around, he put her up to be a candidate and shut her up. As a going away gift, for her moving into the candidates' quarters, he gave her a feline that he'd been secretly saving up for for most of the girl's life. She named him Keetay and cherished him because her father gave him to her.
Position in Family: only child
Pets: feline (Keetay)
Alignment: she'd be a loyalist for the simple reason that she grew up under the direction of the current leaders, and she doesn't know any better than to follow them
RP History: ages? iono
Familiarity with Pern: I feel this sad sense of deja vu. Like i've done this before
