Status Being Applied For: A green fire lizard for Aclaryn.
Reason for Wanting this Status: It helps to justify his resentment toward Treylis, and it's lots of fun playing Aclaryn and his fire lizard interacting. ^^
Sample Post, including this Status:
Aclaryn looked out at the rain with dismay. He didn’t used to mind gloomy days like the current one, but that was when he was at home, and could curl up in his sleeping furs in his own room, perhaps with the company of a girl. But here, he had no room, no place indoors to retreat to where he could have privacy. Living in the candidate’s barracks was perhaps one of the changes he found most difficult to adjust to. Valera, perched as gracefully as ever upon his shoulder, crooned softly, and the boy reached up absently with a hand and stroked her delicate head.
“Well, at least I’ve still got you, hm?” Said Aclaryn, smiling at the little green creature. She trilled in agreement, leaning happily into his hand. Quite suddenly, however, she pulled back, turning her head to peer up at the air at something unseen, listening to some silent message. She launched herself into the air, and was instantly gone.
“…Or not?” Aclaryn said, with a bemused grin, staring after the spot where she had been in the air just moments before. “Hm.” He put his hands in his pockets for warmth as a cold draft blew through the window, and looked back toward the weyr. Perhaps, he thought, he’d go back to the candidate’s barracks and curl up in his sleeping furs anyhow, privacy and girls or not. There didn’t seem to be much else to do.
However, his plans changed abruptly as Valera reemerged from between, chirping and creeling while she wheeled in fast, excited circles in the air. “Whoa, Valera, what’s going on?” Aclaryn asked, amazed, for he very rarely saw his usually poised flit in such a state. He extended an arm for her to perch on, and she settled briefly upon it, but then took to the air again. An image flashed in his mind of eggs, many, little eggs, on the floor…the floor of someone’s weyr?
“Fire lizard eggs are hatching?” Aclaryn repeated, eyes lighting up. “Well, let’s go! I’m sure they won’t mind us watching, even if we aren’t allowed to have one.” Luck was on Aclaryn’s side, and he had been near to the kitchen, so the tall boy grabbed a bowl of meat before heading for the dragonrider weyrs. Valera lead on, flying ahead impatiently, and calling back to her bonded every few feet. Soon, the two had arrived, and Aclaryn peeked his head into the weyr, surveying the situation momentarily before entering. There were several people already there, each with meat, and of varying ages. As it appeared that his presence wouldn’t be minded, he strode in confidently, and edged as close as he could to the front lines of people. He had never seen this many eggs in one place before! Valera, humming as loudly as she could, settled on his shoulder, and he sent warm emotions of thanks to her as his own excitement rose.
