Status Being Applied For: Brownrider.
Reason for Wanting this Status: We-ell, this guy is my most favorite DRoP charra ever. <3 And if I can't have a Bronzerider, I'll change it to Brown. And so you know, I'll be making a Brownrider and Bluerider later, too, if that's okay.
Application-
Character Name:[/u] Danion. Shortened to D'ion.
Age:[/u] Twenty-seven Turns.
Gender:[/u] Male.
Preference:[/u] Straight.
Previous Position:[/u] ... Weyrling?
Current Position:[/u] Brownrider.
Marks:[/u] Two.
Pets:[/u] Female Feline, Calico.
Calico-
Calico is a mixture of several felines and her size is as large as a lioness. She enjoys the rare game, and is very protective of D'ion, and can be seen with him sometimes as he goes about his business in the Weyr, though much prefers to lay around either beside Yunth or on D’ion's bed, or prowl the Weyr on her own at night. She is used to traveling Dragonback and very much enjoys it. Her pelt seems to change in light going from a mixture of dark browns to a mixture of blacks, with a little gray in-between.
Appearance:[/u]
D'ion has a lot of almosts, but-not-quites about him.
His eyes are a weird, gray-blue, like the color of a slightly stormy sky, and almost mirrorlike in the way that the seem to reflect whatever he looks at. His hair is black, and I mean black. So black that it almost has a bluish tint to it. It's straight and shortish, just down to below his ears, with the fringe gown out and falling into his eyes. His skin is tanned, and he usually wears normal, plain clothes, riding leathers and plain Wherhide boots used for riding both runner and dragon alike.
He's five-foot-eleven exactly, but in the way he holds himself, he almost seems to be a little taller. He never slouches, always keeping a good posture, shoulders back and back straight, though not uncomfortably so. He's lean, hardly any fat on him, but he's not overly muscled; or at least it doesn't look like it. He's quite strong, with a grip like a vice, steady step, and firm body.
He's fairly good looking, and yet not perfect. Especially when you notice his right arm, which most people do right off, seeing as he wears short-sleved tunics.
His right arm, the back, outside and front, almost to his elbow, has a massive burn scar on it. Only the inside of his arm escaped the fiery heat of his Dragon's unexpected and miss-aimed fire. As a result from the flame, the burn-marked parts of that arm have a deadened feeling.
Personality:[/u]
He is a very quiet sort of person, hardly ever joining in with meaningless chit-chat and small talk, usually getting right to the point if he has something to say.
He has an amazingly fast mind, he can think on his feet and see things from all sides with ease, even if he isn't one to snap at others. He is very good at understanding people, their feelings and ideas, and always has a fair word to put in on everyone’s behalf. He’s very good at listening and giving advice, but can be very much over protective or over cautious sometimes, and isn’t always willing to trust another right off the bat, most likely due to the fact that his real parents left him without a care.
He's a very imaginative and open-minded person, he gets quite a few ideas himself for certain things... He's always willing to try something new, and will back up his friends one hundred percent. He's very kind and easy going, letting things wash over his shoulders like water on a duck's back...
But some things do strike him harder then others. It all depends on the situation, really. And even then he won't like to tell others of it... Not for fear of showing weakness, or being embarrassed, but because he'd rather deal with it on his own and doesn't want to burden others with his problems. And sometimes, he doesn't do well with the pressure of grief or betrayal.
He has a certain silent strength about him. You just can't miss it... He almost never complains, and is very calm in most situations, he's very patient with others....
To his enemies, he's just sort of quietly there. Insults do not work on him, unless you somehow manage to touch a raw nerve that he's hidden from most people. He's just sort of coldly watching you when you're near, odd gray-blue eyes suddenly turning to stormy-sky colored ice...
Most people seem to think that D'ion lets himself be pushed around. His quiet politeness and calm attitude seems to convey that. They couldn't be more wrong.
He only lets up that illusion; he doesn't appreciate anyone shoving him according to their own plans, and will let them know. Though he will listen if they take the time to explain. If he decides against something, or to do something, he won't let up until he's completed it or the person bothering him about it quits. He dislikes loose ends.
History:[/u]
D'ion is AMW born and bred, his father having been a Brownrider killed by Threadscore, and his mother a Greenrider to caught up in her own life and her Dragon's affairs to pay much attention to him. So, he was brought up by a foster mother, and never thought much of his parents.
When he was seven, he met a young girl by the name of Sokon, who had been taken by his own foster mother and was a year and a half younger than him. The pair became fast friends, and spent a great deal of time with each other.
When they were old enough, they stood at a Hatching, after being approved by a Bluerider's Dragon. D'ion impressed to the very first Dragon to hatch; Brown Yunth. However, Sokon did not Impress until the next Hatching - and she was paired to Green Creath.
The story behind D'ion's burn scar is in their first lesson with Firestone. The Weyrling Master, when Yunth failed to conjure up flame, decided that Yunth was a strange one and would probably have to fly in the queen’s wing when fighting thread. Hours later, however, Yunth spurted up a ball of flame, searing his Bonded’s arm, though proving he could do it.
The four of them grew closer, inseparable, and, as everyone expected, when Creath Rose, after a long, draining Flight, Yunth caught her.
For a time, life couldn't have been better for the four of them. D'ion and Sokon had long since fallen in love, though it took their Dragon's Flight to realize it. As it is so often in life, however, their continued happiness was not to be so.
One fateful Fall, Sokon and Creath were somehow separated from their wing and unable to get back without dire consequences. As it turned out, the consequences of staying where they were was dire as well.
D'ion's and Yunth's hearts stopped at the same time, as they heard to screams that they could not fail to mistake for anyone else's.
Before they were able to disappear Between, and return to safety, Sokon had been caught with a clump of Thread, a large one, right in her middle. The Thread clump had also been large enough to seep over onto Creath as well, and seared her through her back, eating away at the wing muscles.
They fell.
By the time that the ground crew got there, there were no bodies to recover. They had had to work fast to char the Thread that had spread around.
For a few days after the pair's death, D'ion and Yunth stayed shut in their Weyr, unwilling to come out for anyone. However, neither of them were the kind who sit around, drowning in grief, self-pity, and-slash-or wine, and did come out soon enough.
They threw themselves at their work with unusual fervor, voulenteering even for tasks that ones of their high stature weren't normally given, which was worrying to the others of the Weyr, but they said nothing.
And, soon enough, they happened to hear of the Junior Weyrwoman's plan. At first, D'ion considered telling the other Riders about it, to get it stopped - but then it occurred to him that this could be something worth doing.
He could get away from this Weyr, so full of bittersweet memories that slammed him at every turn, become someone new, in a new place, with new chances...
So, after approaching the Weyrwoman about joining her crusade, he was accepted, and went with them to the future...
Their new future.
Position in Family:[/u] First born, only child. He wasn't even wanted by his parents, really - an accident, so why should they have more kids?
Relation to Existing Character:[/u] None.
------
Dragon:[/u] Brown Yunth.
Age:[/u] Twelve years.
Appearance:[/u]
Yunth is a very unusual Brown. Not colorwise, for his hide is a plain, medium Brown all over, not one tiny variation in color anywhere.
But his size is something different. He's the size of a Bronze, nearly larger, and, like his Bonded, very little of that is fat. He isn't a bulky Dragon, however. He's powerful, and lean looking, like his Rider, though his muscles and sinew are more visible. He's a fair flier, good with long flights that take stamina and some speed, but his agility isn't too good.
Yunth also has trouble with Firestone. He cannot digest it quickly and thus has to have at least two hours before threadfall when he eats it to be able to conjure up anything. Due to this problem he has to fly with the Queens, not exactly a bad thing, but D'ion must yield a flamethrower in case his flame fails.
Personality:[/u]
Yunth is similar to his Rider in that his mind is just as sharp, and he's just as quick as putting all of the pieces together. He also has that same determination to finish what he starts, and doesn't like others trying to push him around.
That's where most of the similarities end, though.
Yunth is generally a good-willed Bown, most of the time seeming to be in an amused, somewhat carefree mood. He enjoys having company, and learning about the many personalities of other Dragons, and seeing the complexity of their minds.
He can get bored quite easily, and likes to find different puzzles or whatever strikes his fancy in various subjects to amuse himself. He's very observant and has a long memory, which helps.
Yunth is also not one to spread his problems about, like D'ion, even if he is freer spirited. However, he does enjoy helping others with their own problems, looking at the delimmas like they're puzzles for him to solve.
However, if you make him mad, watch out. He'll keep attacking the one who irritates him until he's satisfied that they've gotten their punishment, and once he's started, it's hard to head him off.
