At the end of the 10th pass, AIVAS had died, as had robinton, and the dragonriders learned about the third power of dragons!
to telekinetically move objects with their minds!
their second jub, now, is as STARWATCHERS!
they watch the sky and, working together, move comets and asteroids that approach Pern away from their planet!
In the eleventh Pass, the Weyrs such as Benden, Igen, and the others began disbursing, or moving south.
Many of the riders had moved into smaller southern Weyrs, such as Monaco-- but the number of riders and dragons overcrowded these smaller spaces, and tension hung thickly in the air. the least little bit might have sent the golds into a fighting fury at any moment!
This kept on until the first of the last of Thread began to fall- though it had been thought that the last Fall had been during the end of the 10th Pass, it clearly was not true- and according to the sattelite relays, the last Pass would last 60 turns rather than 50.
They needed a solution- not to increase their numbers, but to lower the crowding in the three Weyrs.
Finally, they recieved word from the North- there was no Threadfall in the north, for some strange reason- that cleared one worry from the Dragonriders' minds!
Now they could concentrate on the main problem...
And so Monaco's Weyrleader and Weyrwoman sent a junior weyrwoman and a wingleader, as well as an adept green and blue to travel to the Western Isles to set up a new weyr before any infighting could begin. As they explored the long-dead twin Volcanos with the caldera lake between them, they discovered that this location was Perfet for their new Weyr- and it was not just one mountain or volcano, but two, that could help to spread out the dragon population!
The gold's first clutch in the new home, a long-dead volcano, by the bronze and the green's accidental clutch there as well by the blue, were revealed to contain the first 'mutant' color dragons of Pern other than White, such as the Sand, Lilac, Sunset, and Teal. Later, new mutations developed over time, such as Sapphires and Dusks, though none know or understand why. The mutations, amazingly, were almost all of them fertile, even the green-like Spirals, so their colors and mutations were passed down through the generations, making them unofficially official dragon colors. In the same location on the western continent as the first explorers discovered, Moonlit Weyr was established, and was found to have a good set of caverns as well as a lake and plenty of room to spread out.
After the first few riders went West, more and more came.
During an early turn, there was some arguments, but tension in the other weyrs grew less and less as both the number of clutching females in their Weyrs decreased, and the largish number of dragons and riders went West. Finally, everything settld down, and now, in the fourth (and fifth) turn of the 11th pass, Thread begins to fall very soon, and all riders will be called to duty-
Fly and Fight not for honor, but to save Pern!!!
