Journye rubbed the back of her hand across her forehead as she paused at her task for a moment. She was taking stock of what herbs and medicines she had been able to take from Araelen. She felt bad for taking them, but with everyone still having some of the effects of the poisoning in their system they would need what she brought. It wasn't as if she had taken everything from their stores.
She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear before dusting off the knees of her pants as she stood. She walked to the entry way and stared out at the river, memories of the first day she had been shown to the room that would be Araelen's infirmary flashing in her mind. She sighed and shook her head, feeling Lucaith's loving thoughts brush her mind. A faint smile touched her lips. She was much changed from the first time she had arrived at the weyr.
She had grown not just in age, but in personality and maturity. In her time at the weyr she impressed her dear Lucaith. Certainly keeping up with his chipper, childlike nature had helped define who she had truly been but feared showing. Learning under C'lyn had helped her as well.
But, sadly the biggest thing that hap helped shape her was the poisoning at Araelen. Much like C'lyn she had thought the whole time that the epidemic was a flu strain and had never thought to look past a disease and search for something more insidious. She had never thought that someone would be so cruel to do such a thing.
She blinked rapidly, feeling hot tears slide down her cheeks. She had lost friends and sh still mourned their loss, just as her blue still mourned the loss of fellow dragons, especially that of the gold.
Journye had followed Crown north because she, being a Healer, couldn't see herself staying in a place where someone could do such a thing. She had argued with C'lyn over the whole thing, but the man had wanted to stay and he had his own reasons. She could understand that and still had respect for him.
She sighed softly again and looked out over the river, shielding her bi-colored eyes from the sunlight sparkling off of the snow. She was going to have to get used to the cold, something she didn't truly relish doing, but it needed to be done. She shook her head and turned her attention back to the task at hand, making note to ask someone when they had the time to take care of the stalactites before she or someone else hurt themselves on them.
