Humming a gentle tune to herself, Vinxi floated lazily in the salty waters, her hair splayed out around her. She loved swimming, and this small cove a ways away from the Weyr was peaceful, though not exactly quiet. There were sounds of the waves, of birds, of insects, and once in a while, Vinxi thought she could hear something like a Fire-Lizard's chirp.
The sky was absolutly cloudless, and perfect. The water was cool and refreshing, a nice break from the heat of the southern continent. She had no clue where her Fire-Lizards were. She suspected that they were with Raixeh's, where ever his were, but she didn't particularly care.
She was in a rare, relaxed, sleepy mood. Her mind drifted along, far away from her body, which was doing some drifting of its own. She could swim well, so she didn't care if she wound up in deeper waters. She gazed up at the sky with a kind of glazed expression in her eyes, letting whatever crossed her mind flow through it in a contented fog.
She was so comfortable. This place was so peaceful. In her mind, there was nothing better than a relaxing rest in the water. Scratch that; she liked to play in the water as much as a Dragon or Fire-Lizard, but still... On a warm day like this, it was heaven...

Shikai couldn’t suppress the smile that had plastered itself quite determinately upon her face, for there was no denying her happiness as she walked across the grass near the seashore, preferring the hard packed earth to walk on over the sand that began nearby. Nice, cool winds were blowing in from the ocean, which was very welcome against the heat of the south. Her healer’s pouch swayed beside her, already half-full of the wild lavender she had set out to find. It grew quite well near the beach, which explained the girl’s presence there. In addition to smelling quite lovely and being of a beautiful color, the plant had several medicinal uses, so a stock of it would surely benefit the weyr.
That, however, was not the only thing that had driven her from Araelen on that gorgeous day. This was an adventure; her whole experience at the weyr and the surrounding area. A new life! If she didn’t impress, and she had told herself repeatedly that logically, the odds were not in her favor on that point, she wanted to have as many good memories of her candidacy as possible.
Her young, yet brave fire lizard, Sirius, was also in a good mood, and visably so: for the dark, cobalt blue flit was perched on all fours upon her shoulder, his head held high, and his eyes whirling green, happy and excited. The scars from the tussle he had been in shortly after hatching still showed, giving him a rather tough appearance, for through Shikai’s great care they were healing well and, while visible, did not greatly mar his exceptionally smooth hide. Besides, he was young, and growing new skin anyway, if the many times he needed oiling were any proof. He let out a trill of happiness, as pleased as Shikai to be outdoors and exploring a little.
However, as she drew nearer to a lovely cove, Shikai noticed something she hadn’t been looking for. A girl, floating quite contentedly in the water. Shikai wasn’t sure whether to bother her or not, for perhaps she had gone away from the weyr for a little privacy. But Sirius had spotted her too, and was chittering excitedly to Shikai, eager to explore this new development in their day. So the former healercraft apprentice headed down toward the water, waving friendlily to the girl.
“Hi there!” She called, trying to mask the insecurity she was feeling, and the nervousness that she would be snapped at.

((XD A fellow Harry Potter fan, I see. -Chirps at Sirius-the-Flit-)
Upon hearing a voice drift across the water, and cut through her lazy thoughts, Vinxi 'sat up', spreading her arms out to tread water if she needed too. She didn't, however; she hadn't drifted out to far. The waves were gentle today, she mused...
Glancing up and over to the shore, she spotted the person standing there. Vinxi swam over quickly as she called back, "Hi!" It took her less than a minute to get back, standing up and walking forward as she hit shallower waters.
She smiled, waving a little as she walked out onto the beach, but glanced down and made a face at the feeling of the sand between her toes. She looked back up at the other girl, who was standing on the harder earth. "Hello. I'm Vinxi!"
Her voice was cheerful and warm, and in her eyes and smile, there was something that not many people can honestly say that they have when meeting a person right off the bat: pure, simple openness and trust, and happiness at the prospect of a potential friend.
Vinxi could usually tell, like some people can, just by looking at someone's expression, their face and eyes, and listening to the tones of their voice, how nice a person they are, unless they're just so good at masking it all. She had no qualms being open with everyone herself, and though that was sure to bring trouble, she was willing to face it.
Because to her, it was worth it.
She blinked slightly, and rubbed the salty water that had collected there while she swam away from the edges of her eyes, before she took the opportunity to really look at the other girl. She has nice eyes. Vinxi thought idly, looking right at the hazel, red-ringed orbs, her own eyes hiding nothing.

((Yep! XD))
The first thoughts entering Shikai’s mind as the girl returned her greeting and made her way toward her were that she really needn’t have worried. The absolute friendliness and trust emanating from…Vinxi, she introduced herself as, was surprising. It would almost be overwhelming, even, if one weren’t used to such openness. While Shikai had been friendly with a few children at the Healer Hall, her studiousness and prioritization of her craft over friendship meant that she had developed no close relationships. She was slowly realizing it and regretting this, but she was at Araelen now. A new start!
So for starters, she was going to abandon her search for wild lavender for a while and strike up a conversation with this friendly stranger! But…what to say? Well, seeing as Vinxi had politely offered her name, certainly she should reply with her own! That was a start.
“Nice to meet you! I’m Shikai.”
“So…you’re a candidate up at the weyr, I gather? That’s where I’m from; a candidate. I used to be a healer, though, so I help out with that. Like now, I’ve been gathering some lavender. What brings you out here?”
Meanwhile, Sirius eyed the other girl curiously from his perch on Shikai’s shoulder. He had no fear of this girl, nor any human he had met thusfar. It seemed the blue flit wasn’t afraid of much. Which, unfortunately, had earned him the scars he bore.

That day, instead of going to the ocean to relax, F'lan decided to go to the cove, without Crader, since he was sleeping in the weyr.
**Lets go to the cove, friend**F'lan said to Zerith.
Okay...why?Zerith asked.
**It's something different, and it is such a beutiful day!**F'lan replied.
I agreeZerith said, changing course.
Soon they landed at the cove. F'lan jumped in the refreshing water.
"Ahhhh..."F'lan said laying back. Zerith got in the water and swum around. Suddently, F'lan saw two girls on the other edge of the cove.
**I'm going over there where those girls are** F'lan said getting out of the water.
I'll be over here if you need me...good job with being social Zerith said.
F'lan made a quick glance at his dragon and walked toward the two girls.
