H'ter glanced up as first K'ji and then Kanamar and Deveral approached. He could feel his checks coloring as he looked at the three of them. He took a quick sip on his juice and nearly strangled as he swallowed it.
He coughed and shook his head, looking down at the table quickly. Maybe joining Brinne at the table had been a bad idea! He took a deep breath and slowly allowed himself to look back up. He looked at the twins first then over to K'ji where his gaze lingered a bit longer. The twins were handsome enough, but looked too much like one another to hold his interest, but K'ji was more interesting and if he dared allow himself think it, more his type.
He cleared his throat and took another sip of his juice. He would allow Brinne to speak to the new arrivals first, it was her table after all.

As the two young men settled to either side of her, Brinne found herself exactly where she liked to be: the centre of attention. Her smile broadened, though remaining playful, and she glanced from one to the other, quite pleased with herself. The look on H'ter's face nearly made her giggle, for he was now nearly as red as he would have been if he'd stayed out in Rukbat's heat for a sevenday, rather than just an afternoon.
When he inquired after how she was enjoying the Gather, she reached out and brushed his arm flirtatiously with her fingertips while replying, "Oh, I am enjoying it very much so far." The suggestion in her tone conveyed her expectation that the Gather would only continue to become more and more enjoyable as the day wore on. She was having far too much fun!
Brinne's eyes nearly danced as she turned gracefully to face Farallen, only to roll those very eyes at the sight of bubbly pie juice oozing its way down his chin. His remark about the price of the pies only caused a second roll of the eyes and a slight shake of the head, and she wondered briefly if he'd been duped by a pretty lass. But no...Farallen would fall for any Pernese's ploys; he probably still couldn't tell the difference between pretty girls and plain ones. A shame, that.
As much as Brinne sometimes enjoyed being cruel, though, she chose not to inform Farallen of the thievery that had been done to him. Somehow, she felt that the knowledge might crush him, for he still hadn't learned that people were not basically good. Since he had lived all of his life with that naive belief so far, the realization at this point might shatter his psyche.
Instead, she patted him on the arm as she would a child, smiling sweetly, before biting into her own bubbly, which she had bargained away for nearly nothing. She had ensured to find a booth manned by an awkward adolescent boy, after all.
The approach of a newcomer to the table caught Brinne with her teeth still sunk in the pie, and she hastily bit off the piece, wiping away the crumbs, before looking up at the person who had spoken her name. To her utter delight, it was K'ji. This was too easy! First H'ter had come to her, and now K'ji had found her quite easily, it seemed. If this was a sign, it certainly boded well for her plans for the day.
"K'ji! Greenrider of Blancheurth!" she cried, patting the table across from her, indicating that he should sit down. With her other arm, hand now free of the bubbly, she elbowed H'ter, as if her use of K'ji's title hadn't been indication enough. Brinne beamed across at him, hastily shoving a bubbly pie in his direction to distract him from her strange greeting. "I love what you did with your hair today, K'ji," she said cheerily, winking as she did so.
"Oh, how silly of me! This is H'ter. He is a Sr. Weyrling like yourself, rider of brown Bediverth. Oh, but I'm sure you know that! You Impressed at the same Hatching after all." Brinne tittered slightly, eyes wide with the innocence of her 'mistake'. "Oh, and this is Farallen," she added in an offhand tone.
Before she could begin the next stage of her devious introduction, though, two more approached the table. Brinne looked up in surprise, for she hadn't been expecting the company of any but K'ji, H'ter, and Farallen, only to blink repeatedly while her lips parted slightly. Two entirely identical people grinned back at her. For a panicked moment, the candidate wondered if the heat had gotten to her, for the two young men standing there were mirror images of each other, with their heads even tilted in the same manner, and it was possible she was seeing double.
But a moment later, the truth of the situation struck her, and she nearly smacked herself in the head in exasperation. They were identical twins! Brinne visibly relaxed, casting them both an appraising eye now that she had reassured herself of her sanity. There was something strikingly familiar about their eyes, but their warm smiles triggered no memory of a familiar face, so she brushed this feeling aside. Instead, she nodded in response to the query. "Yes, I'm a candidate," was her rather hesitant reply as she continued to study them.
Ah, journeyman Harpers. Brinne couldn't help but feel a slight wash of disappointment, for they were both very good looking (well, of course they both were, they were identical after all). However, even though they wouldn't be pairing off to bronzes as handsome as they, it didn't mean she couldn't have some fun with them tonight...why should this day be all about her plans for others? She couldn't be entirely selfless!
"It's a pleasure to meet you Kanamar and Deverel," she smiled, practically purring their names. "I'm Brinne, and you are welcome to join us. Isn't that right, boys?" She didn't really expect any objection and offered her hand to the twins coyly, eagerly awaiting the response.

K'ji had to admit, it was slightly amusing to catch the confident candidate in the middle of taking a bite of a bubbly pie. He artfully hid the smile and chuckle that he so wanted to give; For the love of Faranth, he was beginning to become quite extroverted. Well, for him at least.
He caught H'ter's eye for a breath of a second before his gaze was back on Brinne. Him? Looking at the weyrling with interest? Psh! Okay, he was. But it was so quick, he doubted he'd done it anyways. He was a little astonished that he'd just did that, so he quickly refocused on Brinne. Errr, right.
The introduction had him barely giving her a glance as he walked around to sit at the table where she had patted. He so did not want to know what that girl was scheming for him; knowing her, he'd find out soon enough. No need to spoil her fun, right? He sat down mutely and took the pie offered to him. Lupin hopped off his shoulder and nosed the pie. Smiling faintly, he gently broke off a piece and handed it to him. He snapped it up quickly and he chuckled before taking a bite himself. He loved bubbly pies.
He'd just swallowed the first bite when she commented on his hair. He gave her a small confused frown, one hand absently reaching up to the brown mass before falling quickly again. Cough. The introductions caught his attention; and no, he didn't miss elongated introduction for H'ter and the last-minute addition of Farallen. He smiled weakly at the two. "Nice to meet you," he greeted in a rather shy voice.
Yes, he just greeted two guys. One which was actually fairly cute adorable handsome....Forget it! The thought was caught in the beginning and no matter how hard he tried to correct himself he couldn't get it right.
Oops?
As for the harpers, he just gave them a little smile to back up Brinne's words. As if she needed it. And hey, two more guys weren't going to doom him anymore than he already was. Overdramatic? Perhaps.

Farallen looked up another boy approached them and greeted Brinne. His eyes flicked between Brinne and the new arrival, taking the recognition on her face as proof that the two were friends. Well, a friend of Brinne’s was a friend of his! “Hi, K’ji!” He greeted, flashing a smile at the greenrider after Brinne took care of the introductions. It was nice of her to introduce him to the weyrling, Farallen thought, shrugging off the manner in which she had done so.
Even if he had thought to ponder upon the offhand way in which she had mentioned him (which he probably wouldn’t, quite content that he was mentioned at all), he wouldn’t have had the time, for another occurrence now required his attention. Two lads he was certain he had never seen before stood before their table, armed with water and bubbly pies, requesting permission to sit with them. Intriguingly, they were completely identical, even down to their expressions and ways of carrying themselves.
“Fine with me.” He replied, after Brinne answered. Farallen never minded company, after all.
“I’m a dragonhealer actually, but for the weyr, yes. I’m Farallen.” He introduced himself this time, giving a smile and nod to each of the harpers in greeting.

H'ter's cheeks were a bright crimson by now he was sure of it as Brinne introduced K'ji. He had remembered seeing him during the hatching and during training, but had never had the chance to speak directly to him. He also noted the emphasis she put on the color of his dragon.
H'ter offered K'ji a shy smile of his own as he turned his attention to Brinne as she asked if it was alright for the two harpers to join. "I don't mind," he said cheerfully, his gaze slipping back to K'ji many times, his cheeks completely flushed now. The green rider was really cute...ack! Had he just thought that?!
He shook his head and took a quick sip of his fruit juice to keep from blurting that comment out. He glanced at Brinne, his brows furrowing slightly. Somehow he had a feeling she had planned this out and him finding her when he did had just sped up her little scheme. He sighed softly and refrained from saying anything, he would like to get to know K'ji better.
H'ter looked up at the two harpers when they asked their ranks. He nodded and licked a escaping droplet of juice from his lips. "I'm H'ter, bonded to Brown Bediverth," he said with a polite nod.

Deverel frowned at the group. Of course, he didn't really, still in the same position as his twin, but he wanted to, quite badly. Let me explain, my dear reader... Dev is... Dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory. On the one hand, he produces the virtue of versatility, and on the other the vices of two-facedness and flightiness. He is like a child, with both the graces and faults of the young. When he is are good, he can be very attractive; when he is bad Deverel is more the worse for being the charmer he is. Like a child, he is lively, and happy, although he has flashes of being egocentric, imaginative and restless. He takes up new activities enthusiastically but lack application, constantly needing new interests, flitting from project to project as apparently purposelessly as a butterfly dancing from flower to flower. To him, life is a game which must always be full of fresh moves and continuous entertainment, free of labor and routine. "Changing runners in the middle of the stream" is another small quirk in his distinct personality which makes decision making, and sticking to a decision, particularly hard for him.
Does this make him more clear for you, my dear reader? Although the two boys looked so much alike, acted so much, if you grew close enough for them to stop mimicking you and each other, you would be startled to discover that the two of them are complete opposites of each other.
'Yes, I'm a candidate.'
I will warn you now, Brinne, and please take heed. Deverel has what you might call temporary depth of feeling, for the intensity of involvement lasts only while it is new. He is superficial, light-hearted, cool, flirtatious and unimaginative in the understanding of the pain he may give others. He likes intrigue, the excitement of the chase, but once he catches the prey, he looses interest and look around for the next creature to pursue. You should take warning that... Oh, what am I kidding, you do the same thing.
'It's a pleasure to meet you Kanamar and Deverel. I'm Brinne, and you are welcome to join us. Isn't that right, boys?'
Ah, a challenge. He liked challenges. As courtly as ever, Deverel moved first, slipping closer and placing down his food carefully before bowing over the profered hand, ever the gentleman although under the skin might be different. Wonder where he learned that from?...
"I do hope that we aren't
-
interupting you in anyway, Miss Brinne and company."
Kanamar... One of the most stable and serious people you will ever have the fortune to meet, although you decide the type of fortune. Confident, strong willed and calm. Hardworking, unemotional, shrewd, practical, responsible, persevering, and cautious, he does however take these things to the extreme, and is capable of persisting for as long as is necessary. He makes of himself, is resourceful, determined; setting high standards for himself and others. Kan strives for honesty in his criticism of self, a fault my dear readers, with a methodical, tough, stubborn, unyielding way.
Brinne, again a warning. While looking at Deverel for a quick roll in the hay, I suggest that looking at Kanamar for something like that would be a... Bad idea. He is somewhat self-centered but not excessively so, wary and cautious around people he does not know very well, preferring not to meddle with others and in turn not to allow interference with himself. In this, my poor baby tends to attract people who do not understand him, like... You. He treats you all with diplomacy, tact and, above all, reticence, but other than that you have nothing. My poor boy dislikes relationships, and will slip into them very very carefully... Plus, he is fiercly loyal, and ridiclously jealous. You don't want him.
The male looked around the table, noting the indifference the flickering of eye catching the two males were doing. Oh, just kiss already. But then the girl was speaking, offering her hand, and as his brother settled down, Kanamar took the profered hand, bowing ever the gentleman over it.
'I’m a dragonhealer actually, but for the weyr, yes. I’m Farallen.'
Yuck, a Healer. Deathly terrified of Healer's (partly Deverel's fault), Kanamar gave him a half-nod, a quesy, edgy look that made sure the Healer had a table between him. But it wasn't about him right now, it was about Claudia...
'I'm H'ter, bonded to Brown Bediverth.'
Kanamar settled next to his brother before answering.
"It is a pleasure to meet you all. We were asking, of course - not to be rude - no, not at all, but we were - wondering weather a girl who lives at the weyr - shortish, red-blond hair - weather you all knew her? She's - called Claudia, youngish - our little sister. We were hoping - you see, if we could find her here, and perhaps get news of her - and our brother - oh yes, him too - taller than us, white-blond hair, - very serious, very quiet, looks sort - of like us, you know?"
The tidel wave hit them, and the twins took large bites from their pies as they watched the group try and take in all the information. Of course, it was amusing to be annoying, Deverel found himself chuckling. Very indeed, and if they needed to repeat it? Ah well.
//Sorry, a bit rambly... I like describing them. xD

Although her attention had easily been diverted by the appearance of two striking young lads, Brinne noticed the exchange of glances occurring between H'ter and K'ji out of the corner of her eye, and a pleased smile slipped across her face. She wondered briefly if she ought to focus (a rare thing) on having the two get to know each other...but decided against it in a flash as the first twin knelt over her proffered hand. There'd be plenty of time for her matchmaking game later; let them stumble through the first stages alone, then she would swoop in to guarantee victory!
After all, Brinne reasoned with herself, she deserved some fun at this Gather; she wasn't so selfless that she would direct all of her energy towards others! The Weyr had been so dismally depressing thus far with its selection of eligible men and their seeming indifference towards her. Now here was a pair who understood what a young lady needed!
"Interruptions are always welcome, especially when they are so diverting," Brinne replied in silky tones, fluttering her eyelashes ever so slightly at Deverel. Next came Kanamar, and she gazed up at him eagerly for his gentlemanly statement, only to be surprised by the flood of jumbled words that poured from his lips.
Her lips pursed in a slight pout, for it seemed they had only come over to inquire after siblings living at the Weyr. As if she bothered to keep track of nuisancy little girls! The brother, she might know, if he was even half as good-looking as this pair. However, if his manners were anything like Kanamar's seemed to be, she doubted that she'd even given him half a mind if they'd met.
"There are dozens of little 'brats, I mean, girls, at the Weyr," Brinne sniffed daintily, turning her attention to a bubbly pie, for it was turning out to be far more interesting at his point. "And I have no idea about your brother. Maybe if you provided some useful information, like a name..." All right, perhaps she was being a bit caustic. They did look familiar...but she didn't have time to memorize the bone structure of every man in the Weyr! Honestly.
Turning back to K'ji, she said brightly, "I heard just the other day that H'ter was considered for Wingsecond, although Sitareh wished for the positions to be filled by bronzes first, if possible. A shame, that, for he seems quite capable, hm?" Yes, just an overexaggeration here and a twisting of truth there, and this pair would be sealed quite easily.
To Farallen, the girl turned and smiled gently. He had told her the sad tale of failing to Impress back at Artemis, and how he was now doomed (not his words, of course) to forever serve dragons without being paired to one. It was very sad, even for uncaring Brinne, and she looked fondly at her 'puppy dog'. "You're the only dragonhealer apprentice in the entire Weyr, aren't you Farally?" Okay, she was still working on that pet name.

Farallen’s eye’s narrowed slightly as he considered the twins’ descriptions. He wasn’t the best with faces, but even if he had been, having never met Hauze or Crown, he wouldn’t be very much help. The dragonhealer shrugged and shook his head apologetically. If they had been from his time, he would stand a much better chance at remembering them, but here there were so many new faces…it was difficult to keep track of them. It didn’t help, of course, that most people his age were in the candidate’s barracks, and as he wasn’t a candidate, he was separated from most of them.
But he had managed to make friends at the new weyr anyhow! Brinne was a very good friend, and he had met H’ter before, although the memory of that day still brought a perplexed expression to his face. He never had quite understood what Brinne and H’ter were talking about. But it was good to be acquainted with someone else, and both H’ter and now K’ji seemed like nice enough lads. They especially seemed to be enjoying each other’s company, he noticed.
Farallen took another bite of his bubbly pie, and was taking a drink of his juice when Brinne spoke to him. However, at the word that ended her query, he nearly spat out his juice! Farally?? Well, he had never been called THAT before. He chuckled at the nickname for a moment before replying, his words still intermixed with laughter.
“Yeah, pretty much. There are some normal healers who are learning, but they tend more to the injured people than dragons.”

((Sorry about the wait! I is being good now, see? God, I nearly typed 'ikke sant?'. I guess that's a good thing? I'm picking up Norwegian words quickly, at least.))
Felina stiffened for a moment as she was addressed by an unfamiliar voice, though she slowly relaxed as she realized that it was far from unfamiliar- it was S'lem. She had barely talked to him since before the Hatching, though, which she figured was probably why she had almost failed to recognize his voice. "We're doing well, actually." She had almost said 'surprisingly', but stopped herself. There should not be anything surprising about a person doing well, or living their dreams, no matter who the person was.
"Are you and Griflith well? And Calysta- have you had to rein her in at all yet?" The memories of the run-in with the siblings was a fond one, for a wonder. She'd been having such a horrid day, one she'd rather be buried and forgotten, but now she was able to look back and be... happy that it happened. Faranth, she was turning into Sunny! Though it appeared she wasn't the only one- the small gold clinging to S'lem was unmistakably of the same clutch.
Oh bother. Implications that she didn't quite like could come out of that one. Oh well. She could contrive to be far, far away when anything happened. Perhaps on the other side of Pern. Or on the Red Star, that would work, too. But it was of little matter then, as both were still small, and oh, why did S'lem have to Impress a female fire lizard, of all people? Why not a nice bronze, or brown, or blue. More messiness. She hated messiness.

Well, we’re here. Aglovth stated as he lowered himself neatly to the ground, pulling his wings back to his sides. Myra dismounted, landing lightly on the grass beside her blue dragon. I’ll see you later, then. Enjoy yourself! Aglovth called after his rider as he took to the air again, leaving Myra alone. Well, perhaps alone was not the word to use – people were milling about everywhere, the noise of countless conversations filled the air…yet somehow it only served to make Myra feel more isolated.
Taking a deep breath, she moved into the crowd, her head lowered as she moved in the direction she hoped she would find the riding leathers in. That was her main purpose today, after all – to find suitable equipment for herself and her dragon for in preparation for the imminent threadfall.
However, she was swept along with the crowd, her head slightly ducked as her eyes searched desperately for the right craft stalls. Yet to her dismay, the bluerider soon found herself not near the tanners, but…at the food stalls? She sighed, running a hand through her short-cropped black hair. Oh well. Come to think of it, she was rather hungry…Perhaps the leathers could wait a while. Besides, she could always go after them a bit later when the crowds started to migrate to the dancing square. As she certainly wouldn’t be partaking in those kinds of activities, she could do her shopping then!
After quietly paying for her food, she carried her tray of various delicacies to an unoccupied table. The fact that she was able to find an unoccupied table was a stroke of luck indeed! Fortunately, as she was wandering about in search of one, a pair of holders had risen from theirs and abandoned it in favor of the craft stalls, so she hastened toward it. She sighed in relief as she set down her tray, and sat down to eat.
Myra looked absently about her, watching the proceedings of the Gather. Being woefully shy, she was acquainted with very few people at the weyr. But no matter, at least the food was excellent!
