Where you are the one, the one, That lies close to me. Whispers, hello, I've missed you quite terribly." ;;And here we are again. It was just after another spring rain, and the grass was covered with dew - it made it easy for a pair to walk silently to the feeding grounds. First was a young man - yes, K'l'sran. He had grown taller, nearly touching six feet, and had finally reached his twentieth birth day. It didn't seem to change him much - he was still the same young man, with large brown eyes the color of thick red and brown earth, flecked with silver thread that fell from the sky. He still moved with the same liquid elegance - he seemed to flow over the grass in his lithe way. Jet black hair tumbles down into his eyes - he forgot to cut it again, just a simple black color that stays carefully itself. He's stayed tan over the winter - lighter than he was, but still dark as he always was. He wears a lopsided grin as he walks, head tilted up to talk to the dragon pacing at his side.
;;The dragon at his side is Helksinth, yes, look at how much he has grown! Although he isn't quite fully grown is as big as most of the adult browns - he's quite large for his color. He looks a little chubby - he never seemed to loose that, even from hatching, but if you watched no fat bounced or anything - he was just a bulky dragon. He is a sandy brown color, but he looks rather like a feline with thin stripes of a mahogany brown running down his sides, puddling on his underside and on his wing membranes. He was just a big boy, healthy and strong - of course, he was nothing like his siblings in the fact that most of them were lithe... But he could sit on them and they would die! Mwawawawa! He didn't waddle as he walked, but looked rather like a canine as he eagerly accompanied his much smaller His to the food place. He was hungry!
;;Now he took flight, up in the air with a slightly ungainly take off, but in the air he settled out and proved that dragons really were the master's of the skies, and K'l'sran leaned up against the fence to watch the Brown carefully choose his meal. The young man was still for a moment, just watching, but even from a distance you could see the volcano bubbling under his skin. He wasn't very liked - not at all, actually, for he had bounds and bounds of emotional energy. Infact, he didn't really have that many friends... Alright, he had no friends, but it was his own fault. The recently promoted Senior Weyrling Journeyman Healer didn't quite understand what to do with friends - he didn't keep them well. Actually, he did have one... Did being the key term there. Despite his arrogant appearance, he wasn't good at a lot of things, people being one of them. He hadn't wanted to mess it up with Cilnah, and so had systematically avoided and been short with her since the Hatching... He knew it was better that way.
;;Thankfully, he had Helksinth. Sinth was the most steady dragon you probably had ever met, and he and Basyth had become friends. He is a constant, reassuring presence, and never looses his calm. He's a leader - he has more inner strength and resilience than many dragons ever could, and he is wiser than some of the older dragons. Helksinth was quickwitted and intelligent, but he didn't rush into things, so it had taken him until now to finally get together the pieces and tell his plan to Basyth. Sadly, K'l'sran sometimes underestimates his dragon - despite his cool in every situation, he does what he believes to be right - and this was right. He could feel K'l'sran hurting, and woe to the person that made His hurt. He fights with a detachedness that is more vicious and dangerous than any of his siblings, and all of their fire... And His was about to be reminded that Sinth follows what he thinks is right and wrong, and this was right - so this was the way it would go.
;;What had happened was that he had told Basyth that he would bring His and Basyth would bring His and they would meet right here, and force Their's to become friends again - His needed this. So there they were, K'l'sran quite contentedly and obliviously making himself comfortable on the fence to wait out Sinth, while the dragon chattered away to him. It was lots of fun! Although it did make my wings hurt a little, I believe I shall want to try doing it with you on my back soon. K'l'sran laughed outloud, teeth flashing against dark skin, and told him, "I think we'll wait a little until you get used to it, Sinth." Oh! But I can catch you, Silly Mine!
I fell in love, in love, With you suddenly. Now there's no place else, I could be, but, Here in your arms.

Oh, but the life of a Senior Weyrling was a busy busy thing! How she missed the days of candidacy. At least then she could have a few moments of piece now and again. But she wouldn’t give up her little Basyth for the world. Even with all the training and lessons and new assignments that were flying in her direction, her faithful Blue’s presence was always something reassuring. Even if he was a chatter box. Cilnah only listed with half an ear as the dragon rambled on about something he’d learned that day… Possibly in one of his flying classes, in which he was extremely adept. Somehow she had found a rare moment of peace and was sitting quietly in her weyr, doing absolutely nothing. She was smiling down at her newest companion, a little blue flit, perhaps a week old now, when Basyth’s words suddenly cut through her mindless relaxation. Mine, I’m hungry! That made Cilnah laugh, and from her sleeping furs a round head rose curiously, moving to rest upon her knee. “Are you hungry too, Mae?” she asked, scratching his hide affectionately. The flit’s answer was a mixture of pleasure and hunger pains as he flapped his wings and wrapped himself around His’ neck.
“Alright then! Let’s go get you fellows something to eat. Basyth, why don’t you wait down by the entrance to the lower caverns?” He gave a swift nod and a felling she wasn’t quite sure about washed over her, something like a mix of pride and mischief, as he turned from his ledge and dropped down, out of sight in a few mere seconds. Shaking her head with a soft laugh, shifting the little blue flit in her arms so that she could walk without jostling him too badly. He simply keened and nuzzled himself into the crook of her arm. “You are so cute!” she sighed as she walked from her room and down to the kitchens, where she quickly grabbed a few meat rolls to feed to Makamae, and enough left over for the little one if he woke up. Little Cascade was still getting used to life with his older and bigger cousins, but he seemed to adjust quite easily. The little guy was so laid back that you could do almost anything to him and he would just watch you with quiet, curious eyes. It was as she thought about this that she exited the caverns and found an almost impatient Basyth waiting for her. What took you so long, Mine? he demanded as he set off for the feeding pins in the adorable hop skip of his when he moved along the ground. “ I, unlike some that I know, have to walk everywhere I go. I don’t have wings to fly me anyplace I’d like to go on a whim!” Her laughter and the Blue’s mingled together for a moment. They both knew that soon he’d be able to fly her anywhere she might desire. It was as she was approaching the feeding pins that the feeling from Basyth started to nag at the back of her mind again. It wasn’t until the hide of a big brown dragon came into her sight that she realized just what it was. Basyth was up to something! She should have realized that immediately. This wasn’t the first time he had done something and dragged her into it, as little Cascade could attest her.” Basyth." she growled under her breath, and made to turn to leave, despite the fact that she would hear no end of it later. For she recognized that hide; it was none other than Helksinth, the bonded to her one time friend Kal. Just as she had fully rotated her body around to head back towards the caverns, Mae stepped in, much to Basyth’s relief. With a soft keen of delight, he shot out from his position around Cilnah’s neck and flapped his way over to the boy, settling almost instantly again upon his shoulder. “ I’ll get you for this!" she promised silently, squaring her shoulders and turning back to the confrontation at hand. The blue, seeming oblivious to her deathly glares at his back, took to the air and set about selecting his lunch. Slowly, so slowly, she stepped forward, a mixture of anger, fear, confusion, and most of all delight written in her emerald eyes, any more than she could deny who had given her the pendant that still rested in its place at the base of her neck. Because she couldn’t deny the fact that she was happy to see her old friend, even if he wasn’t happy to see her. And it wasn’t as if he would have to suffer her presence long. He could simply turn and walk away if he annoyed her that much. As the emotions warred within her eyes, she stopped a good few feet away, her gaze fixed on the brown crooning over his long lost companion. “ Hello, Kal. Or… I guess I should call you K’l’sran now.”[/blockquote]

Why are there so many songs about rainbows? And what's on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions And rainbows have nothing to hide.
;;It was an easy life he lived... Alright, it wasn't. K'l'sran was a busy young man, hurried around and tossed back and forth between his life as a Weyrling and one as a Healer.... But he wouldn't have it any other way. For once in his life he had an outlet for the cool rage he held ottled up inside cool intense eyes, and he was enjoying this life. He had never had peace, but now the restful unease in his life was suddenly so much more calm. While the large sandy colored Brown tore at the food ravenously and tried to convince His to let him loop-de-loop in the air with K'l'sran on him, the young man was laughing along with the dragonet... Well, not really dragonet anymore, but dragon. Helksinth had grown up, as he liked to point out to His. I am the size of a small Bronze already, MineOwn, and I am not yet full grown! I am bigger than most of my siblings! K'l'sran couldn't help but teasing the solomn Brown, if not just for an instance. "Yes, my love, not only in height but in girth!" The Brown - knowing his was only jesting, took the time out of his not so dainty eating habits to mantle his wings and snap at K'l'sran, although the young man was far enough away that he only saw the motion. But he reacted the way he knew Helksinth would want him too, tumbling over backwards off of the fence to tuck and roll, ending splayed out on his back in the wet grass - careful of the small flit egg he held in his hand.
;;It was there, laughing along with his Brown and free of any mask he might wear, that he happened to catch sight of someone he had been avoiding... And he shot up like a scalded cook, up on his feet in a signature liquid K'l'sran move that made him look like a slippery snake. Crap. The thought was broadcasted loud and made Sinth look up startled - Oh! It is Basyth, my good friend that I did not invite here but just happened to meet! The Brown's tone held a very clearly caught-with-his-hand-in-the-cookie-jar tone of faked surprise, although K'l'sran knew it was there only for his benefit. Sinth wouildn't have said anything unless he wanted K'l'sran to know that he had planned this. It was a clear warning - he wasn't to run away or Sinth would drag him right back. So he stood there, not even bothering to be angry at a dragon that would feel no remorse, and tried to understand what excatly was going on. Sinth, my darling. His tone was exagerated, and growly. I will get you for this later. He probably wouldn't.
;;It seemed that they were at a stand-still, but she was helping, for she had spun around as soon as she had seen Sinth's large obvious body... Maybe she didn't see him! She had turned to leave... When a brown shape detached from her and anxioiusly winged his way over to the young man, landing gracefully on his shoulder. "Makamae." The tone was soft, gleeful as a young child. He had missed the little flit - it was what had convinced him to go out searching every free moment along the beaches of the south until he had found the little egg. It might have been too young to take from the mother, but it was nearly ready to hatch, and he had up set the mother so much by stumbling on her nest he knew she would have been gone. The free hand he had reached up to scratch at his eye ridges, cooing softly to the Brown. "Hi there darling! Miss me?" It was a lover's croon, a murmur that was louder than what it was. "I missed you." Coddling and making a fuss over the Brown, his hand went to his pocket where he had thrown a meatroll for later - he brought it out instandly and offered it to the flit, forgetting for a moment that he had a bigger problem on his hands.
;;The Brown meanwhile, was letting them duke it out themselves. Hello Basyth! Thank you for getting Your's down here... It is a pity they are so trusting sometimes... It was his only remorse, voiced only to his friend - he went back to his meal after that with the feeling of guilt lifted from his shoulders (not a very big burden he would admit) as though he had just confessed to a priest.
;;But cooing over a flit wouldn't stop what was coming, and this meant that she would be standing there. Well, if she didn't speak, he didn't have to look or admit that he had been a jerk and stopped talking to her... Pushed her away... Refused to have anything to do with her... But even as guilt poured over him, she was speaking, and he was stifling annoyance. Couldn't she make this easier on them all and just not talk? 'Hello, Kal. Or… I guess I should call you K’l’sran now.' The Brown dragon overseeing the conversation nudged his ahead mentally, waves of disproval wafting off of him. Mine, you are being ridiclous and childish and stupid. You were mean to ignore her! The man snapped back, Sinth, she wouldn't stand by being my friend! It was better this way! The Brown only snorted, swallowing a piece thoughtfully as he asked His, Better for who, MineOwn? Her, to have no idea why her friend stopped talking to her? Or you, who thinks he would get hurt if she realized you like her? Sputtering at the Brown and denying it all, he turned back to answer the girl. Nicely, Mine. Or you will wake up with brain and other such undelightful things in your bed. "Cilnah. Hello." He intended to leave it at that, but his nursemaid pushed him forward as though he was a young child, mentally. "It's whatever you like - a name is a name after all. You can call me Kal or K'l'sran." And he intended to stop talking there... A little more. Ask her how she is doing. APOLOGIZE. "How are you." He said it shortly, a statement, and Helksinth snorted angrily, turning to Basyth with his usual slow patience. Is Your's just as thickheaded?
;;But he couldn't deny that when he glanced at her, making his statement that was hopefully enough to have her not answer... He saw delight in them. It was a knife stab... Maybe he had been a little hasty in breaking off the ties of friendship, but all the same... It was better this way. For who? The words echoed in his brain, but he pushed him away, making his own brown ones cool and blank as he pet the lizard and looked at him instead. He didn't know.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it. I know they're wrong, wait and see. Someday we'll find it, our rainbow connection, The lovers, the dreamers, and me.

Before the intervention of Makamae, before the boy had realized she was there, and before she had even turned to avoid this confrontation altogether, Cilnah saw a sight that brought a soft smile to her lips. A Kal that wasn’t guarded, or defending himself, or pretending, or any other such thing. Just a Kal being himself. She almost allowed herself to feel a pang of jealousy for the big burly Brown that had elicited such a response from her one-time friend. But that was nonsense, as she had pushed the feeling away as she turned, only to turn back and be drawn forward. Shards. Another prickle of jealousy as she stepped forward slowly, hesitantly. Well, he’d missed Makamae, she noted wryly, that much was obvious. So was it people in general he pushed away? Or just her, since she’d bothered to stand up to him when they first met? It was as she greeted him that she wondered this, the words moving from her mouth automatically without much thought. The bitter feelings, teetering on the edge of anger, made even the enthralled brown flit look up from the meatroll he was busy nipping at, his eyes beginning to whirl with distress as he tried to understand what was wrong with his.
For an instant they worried Basyth as well, as he worked his way over and greeted Helksinth. It was no problem at all, Helksinth. It’s more of a pity that they are so thick headed, really. All of this could have been easily avoided. As he said it, he swung his head back to look at His for a brief moment as her emotions settled again, and he gave a snort of relief before picking a herdbeast and beginning his lunch.
It was true. In the silence that had followed her greeting, as she waited for his reaction, the girl had remembered their stint at the Gather that seemed so long ago. He had not avoided her then, had he? So what had changed between that day and now? He had started pulling away since before the Hatching of their clutch brother dragons, but she hadn’t any idea why. And it seemed as if nothing had changed, as he greeted her in short, clipped tones. It was obvious enough that he didn’t care in the slightest what she called him, or even if she talked to him at all, as his point ‘how are you’ knifed through the air. That cutting tone bit at her, and she seemed to flinch back, even though she didn’t move, hurt and confusing flickering through her emerald eyes for a brief second before she locked them back away in her mind.
“I am fine,” she answered, her tone just as clipped as his. As she said it, she shifted Cascade onto her shoulder, and in the same movement sureptuously tucked the necklace he had given her under her clothing. There was no since in bringing up a past moment that seemed now as if it had been a blunder on his part, a mistake that at the moment felt like he would take back if he could. She wouldn’t allow that. Even if he did regret their time together, she had enjoyed their friendship, brief as it was, and wasn’t about to give it up. “And you? she continued after the half-second it had taken her to hide the object.
In the pin, the graceful Blue sighed, his head still dipped down to his feeding. Cilnah-mine can be stubborn at times, he admitted solely to his brown brother. But she is kind and good hearted. She misses the company of Yours, even if she won’t admit it. He glanced back over towards the pair and trepidation entered his tone. I hope this is the right thing to do. I don’t want her hurt because of our trifling.

You change your mind like a girl changes clothes Yeah, you change your mind like a girl I would know And you always think, always speak cryptically I should know that you're no good for me
Focused on the creature on his shoulder, K'l'sran wasn't stupid enough to miss the Brown look up at His with distress in his eyes. Something was wrong - but as good as he was with generally guessing what people were thinking, he couldn't understand it. Was she mad at him? Was she mad at her Blue for thinking up the plan with Helksinth? Was she hurt because he had stopped talking to her? He didn't know, and it bothered him that he didn't. She was hard to read, unlike other people in general. Looking down at the Brown, he tried to understand what the girl was thinking, his hand tucked around the egg worriedly. He didn't want Mae thinking he was ditching him for another flitter - he cared what the flit thought about him. With so much to panic about, he didn't pay very close attention to the Brown conversing with his clutch-brother.
It was no problem at all, Helksinth. It’s more of a pity that they are so thick headed, really. All of this could have been easily avoided. The Brown watched His and Basyth's for a few moments, worried as the Blue was about the emotions deflecting from the girl. It is my fault I fear. I should have paid more attention to Mine when I saw them seeing each other - I caught on too late. Ah, well, better late than never.
Up went the mask as he was made to talk to her - though he knew himself that he didn't mind talking to the girl. It was just easier, for them both. Of course, when he glanced up to see the pain in her eyes, he felt like a man who had just taken a low blow. It was pain he saw in those green eyes, pain, hurt, and confusion that made him want to sink into the ground. Men just shouldn't make girls look like that, even if they were him. For a moment he opened his mouth to apologize, or say something - but he couldn't. Instead his eyes dropped, and his mouth shut, focusing closely on the grass. By Faranath, he was a douche. But one thing that had kept her friends with him as long as they were was the fact that the young woman kept up with his every blow. 'I am fine.' Hidden from her, his fingers dancing on Mae's hide, K'l'sran smiled. She was an amazing fireball at times. It was quiet for a moment - and then she spoke again. 'And you?' Despite his pride in her, he hadn't expected it at all, and met her eyes for a split-second before closing off the emotion. The sandy brown dragon cackled in his mind, laughing. She is a strong willed girl - it is why I like her so much, Mine.
Cilnah-mine can be stubborn at times. But she is kind and good hearted. She misses the company of Yours, even if she won’t admit it. I hope this is the right thing to do. I don’t want her hurt because of our trifling. Helksinth had been completely fine, rumbling in agreement with the stubborn part (good, at least His wasn't the only one) when the Blue voiced his worry. Immediately, Helksinth's eyes struck a worried tinge and he peered over at the dueling pair. But Helksinth was firm in his standings - the needed this, and he tried to convince his brother this as well... Even as he settled himself into the thought. They need this. If we did not care who would fix this for them?
Meanwhile, K'l'sran was fighting to find an answer. "I'm just peachy, I suppose. Busy, as usual. Many of our fellow weyrlings come in with the tiniest boo-boo's because Their's don't like them in pain, and I'm expected to be patient with them for some reason." He forgot she wasn't his friend - instead he wanted to see that smile, and he pondered outloud in hopes to have her laugh at him, and tease him... Until he realized what he was doing. He closed off almost immediately then, taking his glance over to where the big Brown was still eating. "Are you done, you lug?" The Brown didn't answer, only took off to carefully grab another herdbeast in a clear answer. With a sigh, the man turned back Cilnah and uneasily twisted his foot in the grass. "Well then. That's a clear enough answer. I swear, he eats enough for four dragons his size. Does Basyth have an appetite that big, or is it just a Brown thing?" Too late did he remember he wasn't trying to be cheery with her - ah well. Keeping his face on the grass, he pretended that it was a question thrown out to keep him from being bored. It was really. He hated being bored. And most of the time, people were boring.
Even Cilnah? A scowl directed to his dragon mentally. Cilnah, is it? The Brown only waited, expecting an answer for long enough that the man gave in, irritated of course. No. She's much more interesting than most of the boobies around. Happy? The Brown's cheerfulness was answer enough.
'Cause you're hot and you're cold You're yes and you're no You're in and you're out You're up and you're down

Cilnah's eyes had wandered out to the dragons in the silence that seemed to stretch before her. It may have lasted only a few seconds, a minute maybe if she was generous, but to her it seemed to take a lifetime. One hand made it's way up to rest against her collar bone, her fingertips tapping against the pendant that now rested hidden beneath her shirt. What would it have been like, she wondered, if they had remained friends while the Blue and Brown had been growing up? How would things be now? Certainly not the awkwardness she was enduring now. Maybe, just maybe... She would have been entrusted with that carefree, unguarded boy she had had the briefest glimpse of. But then again, maybe not.
She turned back to him, tossing out a casual inquiry about his own health, and caught the tiniest of glimpses from him that had her confused, but also somewhat pleased. A flash a pride. In her? No, that couldn't be it. It was a selfish thought. And besides, he didn't like her. Why should he be proud of someone he didn't like? In the pin, Basyth nodded his head absently before taking another chomp at the beast laid open before him. Sad but true. I don't think those two could take care of themselves without us. They are too stubborn to do anything on their own, I think. A soft chuckle rumbled deep in his chest, too low for His to hear, but obvious to the Brown nearby.
An answering chuckle sounded in Cilnah as Kal rambled slightly on about his duties. It seemed for half a second as if they were friends again, as a smile twitched across her lips. "Well, the dragons haven't learned the way of the world yet. Basyth there was the same way when he was first hatched. Wanted me to go in for everything. I got him out of that quick enough though." Another chuckle, but it turned into a cough. Just a small one. She'd been doing that off and on all day. As she did, her company called out to his Brown, making it more than obvious to her that her presence there was only being tolerated because of the fact the Helksinth was not budging from the pin. It made her wonder what Kal would think of her if he knew she was staying of her own free will. She could have turned and left if she wanted... Basyth wouldn't have put up much resistance...
"Ah?" Her head snapped back to the boy as he addressed her. She'd missed half his question. But his comment cleared it up enough for to get the idiotic look from her face and form some sort of an answer. "Sometimes I think Basyth has his legs and tail empty just so he can hold all the meat he devours in one sitting!" she admitted with a grin, and a shake of her head. In the pin, the Blue tossed his head back and snorted with feigned indignation, which just made Cilnah start to laugh again, hard enough to have her shoulders shaking. But that quickly changed as the laugh turned into yet another cough, the deep sort that rattled in one's chest. Cascade creeled sleepily, and Makamae keened, while Basyth swung his head to watch His carefully, ready to grab her and haul her into the healer's hall if need be.

As Cilnah's eyes wandered, K'l'sran's didn't. Kal only watched her, ready to look away if need be, drinking in the face that he had avoided for Sinth's grown. It was a beautiful face, striking in its own way... And even as the silence went on and on, he didn't really notice. The silence was a comfort to him, made him feel better about his own twisted ways. He wondered what she had on her collarbone - a token from a lover, the jealous part of his mind supplied - and decided it just must have been a trinket, a silly little trinket. And probably pretty, when it was on her. And that carefree, unguarded young man that she knew... If they had stayed friends, he might get out more. As it was, he knew where he was.
Sad but true. I don't think those two could take care of themselves without us. They are too stubborn to do anything on their own, I think. Just as amused as his Clutchbrother, the Brown shifted and swallowed another chunk. They need this. It is important.
And then she was laughing, and his answering smile, before he could hide it away, was sunlight bursting through clouds. She did always laugh at the silly things he said. He didn't have much to joke about with anybody, except for Sinth. Sinth was the only one who cared enough to listen. 'Well, the dragons haven't learned the way of the world yet. Basyth there was the same way when he was first hatched. Wanted me to go in for everything. I got him out of that quick enough though.' And thank god for that - if the Healer had to see her everyday he probably would have gone mad trying to figure out his own mind.
...But she was coughing, and his smile had turned into worried frown. The sickness that was going around... She was okay? But he had to pretend that he didn't care, had to make sure she didn't get to close to him and get hurt, so he focused on Helksinth and pretended not to notice. What would he do? It was a tricky situation this. Mayperhaps he would have left himself - after realizing that he could indeed - and maybe... He would have been slightly pleased. She wanted to spend time with him, despite his ignoring of her.
'Ah?' She looked confused, standing there, but shook it off fast enough and answered back, quick of wit - like she always was. 'Sometimes I think Basyth has his legs and tail empty just so he can hold all the meat he devours in one sitting!' He chuckled again, but could not hide it that time - he agreed with her! About to say something, Sinth too took mock-offense and he lost it, laughing outloud now, laughing with her and enjoying the companionship as he agreed.
...But the cough made him freeze, made him take a few steps forward and - too close, too close, his mind chanted to him - peer into her eyes, searching. The Healer came out, worried, and Sinth caught his fear. Mine? Is she alright? ... The silence was enough for Helksinth, who reached out and nosed at the Blue's shoulder. Mine is worried about Your's cough.
Suddenly K'l'sran's hands shot out, one going for her wrist and the vein there, the other going to her forehead and cheeks. "You have a fever. Your pulse is spiked up..." He dropped her, and frowned down. "Why haven't you gone to a Healer?! You are sick, and that cough sounds awful! Basyth, I'm surprised at you." But he really wasn't. Cilnah was one to push and push, needing to help other's before herself. "How long has this been going on?" His hand was back out, touching her face softly, feeling it for heat. ...And he liked the smoothness and warmth of another person. "Have you been eating?"

He may have pretended not to notice her cough, but she made no such measures. Cilnah caught the slightly worried look he took on and she smiled behind her hand. It was good to know that he still held some thought for her. He probably wouldn't have bothered to be worried otherwise. So perhaps there was some hope left for their friendship after all. Maybe, just maybe, she would have to thank Basyth after this was over. After she gave him a good tongue lashing of course. It made her a bit more at ease as she teased her Blue about his eatting. But all too quickly things went sour again, as her laugh turned to a cough.
The girl noticed Kal take a few steps towards her, and lifted a hand to wave him off, opening her mouth to insist that she was fine. However, her words were choked off by another bought of coughing, this time sounding as if something was trying to work it's way out of her lungs. That was the final push for Basyth, as well as the nudge from his Brown brother. Cilnah-Mine! Don't die Mine! Okay, so maybe he was a little melodramatic. But really, it was just his nature. She couldn't hold it against him, though his antics did cause a small chuckle from her, which in turn just made things worse. As did Basyth's glomping run towards her, his wings half spread as if he was getting ready to take flight, though he was decidedly grounded.
Cilnah's attention was arrested from her Blue, who had just arrived at the edge of the pin, hanging his head over to hover over His in an obviously worried manner, as a hand touched her face. She noticed that more than the touch at her wrist, and her discomfort from being out of breath was momentarily forgotten as she looked up into the worried gaze of her one-time friend. "I'm..... Fine!" she insisted between a few hack coughs. There was no reason in worrying him over a silly cough. Of course, she could do nothing to hide Mae, who was twirling around her head like made, chattering incoherently, or Cascade, who was nuzzling under her ear and creeling somewhat pitifully.
Basyth, however, had no such qualms and answered Kal's questions for her. I tried to get her to go! he said, sounding thoroughly distressed. She refused! She's had that cough almost a full sevenday now! But she just kept saying it was only a cough and there was no need to bother the healers with it... He paused and performed a small twirl inside the pin to show his concern. Then he paused and tilted his head. Come to think of it, I don't think Mine has eatten since dinner yesterday. Have you, Mine? The Blue seemed to forget for a moment that she was caught in the middle of a fit.
Once more she opened her mouth to respond, but just then it seemed as if her cough settled down. Going to take a deep breath, for she was rather short of that, what with that long fit, Cilnah suddenly clutched at her shirt over her chest. There was a sharp pain between her ribs, and she was unable to breathe. She tried again, once, twice more, and then the world began to move about her. Instinctively, she reached out to clutch the first steady thing she could find, which just happened to be Kal's shoulder. It was enough for a moment, until her knees buckled and her eyes closed, the world going dark around her.

Kal would never loose thought for her - he often thought of her at odd moments, when something reminded him of her. Broken eating stuffs, funny phrases, random things that her really had no right making a reference to but thought of her anyway. It was the way of the world - he just tried to put it out of his mind as fast as he could and kept pressing forward. He would not be thanking Sinth for this, however. He would scold the Brown later, but he hated when the Brown decided he wasn't a big boy enough to deal with his own life. Sinth was right - he wasn't, when it came to matters like this, but the easygoing Brown would never point that out to His. Best that K'l'sran learn it himself.
He could have laughed at her, if it wasn't such a serious manner. He wasn't one to be batted aside by a simple wave of the hand, and his usually crooked mouth stayed in a serious line. Helksinth followed his Blue brother - albeit more stately - and K'l'sran ignored them all, still watching the girl cough with worried eyes. He hated this sickness, especially because it was touching his fri- his one time friend.
'I'm..... Fine!' The disgusted snort that he employed after this speech showed how much be believed that. And the firelizards were not helping, worrying over her. He used the hand that had captured her wrist to scoop up Cascade, taking the lizard and gently letting Helksinth say, Come to me little ones - you are bothering Yours. He let the bulky Brown deal with that - he was more worried about the girl. And then suddenly, a new voice was in his head, and the man jumped as he looked up at Baysth.
I tried to get her to go! She refused! She's had that cough almost a full sevenday now! But she just kept saying it was only a cough and there was no need to bother the healers with it... Kal almost laughed at the twirl, but was more worried with the glaze in her eyes and the hacking noises she kept making. Come to think of it, I don't think Mine has eaten since dinner yesterday. Have you, Mine? It didn't matter that she was settling down with her cough - he started to rage. Quietly, and calmly, but rage. "You haven't eaten? What is WRONG with you? You need food in your stomach to have this healed, you silly -" But Helksinth suddenly cried, MINE! and he looked at Cilnah again to see her reach out blindly, her eyes rolling up in the back of her head.
She grabbed him, and it was only instinct to catch her as she crumpled on him - and suddenly he was standing there, holding Cilnah in his arms, panicking. "Cilnah?! Faranth, I didn't meant to yell at you!" That was a stupid thing to think, that he had done this, but he didn't care. This was harder than being a healer - this was emotional attachment that he worked hard on not having. Letting Helksinth keep Basyth calm, the Healer started out for the infirmary, panicking completely.
