Hello everyone! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Ness. I used to RP over at Artemis Moonlight and was the Weyrleader there for a while. Then school caught up with me (senior year, you know) then college ate my life. Well, college is still eating me even during the summer as I'm on campus doing research, but I can't wait to start RPing again!
I'm bringing over Larita, my greenrider from Artemis Moonlight and we'll see where it goes from there. My plan was to bring in Lari as an accident when Seioth jumps between during a storm. This would mean she came before Gaylen, C'lyn and the others and didn't know what was going on, which would suit me since I'm still new to this weyr myself.
Anywho, Lari's character application will be up in a few minutes and awaiting approval and I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! (As is Larita).

Let me just say: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! lol. We've nearly got the entire Artemis gang over here now! This is awesome. I know what you mean about college! I am luckily quite free for the summer (although my weekends tend to be filled with family events), but it surrrre gets busy over the school year. Next year, though, I'm not going to have any labs (ECSTATIC!), so I'll have hooooooours more free time than this year (with two, 3-hour labs per week). What research are you doing? Oh yeah, and I'm soooo excited to rp with you! ^_^ Welcome/Welcome back! Eh heh heh.

Ha! Lucky! I'll have two bio classes, and a chem class next semester (as well as a history class and tap dancing - yes I know, that's what happens when you go to a liberal arts school), but my only lab is three hours for chem. After that I'll have to have at least two labs per semester to get my Biology/Biochem double major done in the next three years and still study abroad for a semester.
For the summer, I'm working with the the 5-HT2C receptor (one of the many types of serotonin receptors) gene in zebrafish. Eventually we hope to create a morpholino to make a 5-HT2CR knockdown strain of zebrafish to understand it's exact effects, but that's a ways in the future. Right now, we're just trying to make sure the gene we've isolated is actually the one we want. Which means lots of PCR and a sequencing reaction almost gone awry when we lost power in a storm yesterday. But it's been a lot of fun.
Now then. Time to start Lari's introductory post! Exciting!

Hey Kiddo!! It's so great to see you here! And I love it when you talk genetics. :-) Gaylen and Alabanth would have disappeared after Lari ... but arrived before her (obviously, since I was so glad to see her that I posted already ::grins: . Gaylen was also "lost in time" for a while ... and has arrived with a few, erm, interesting problems. My bronzerider B'kay's also from Artemis, though he wasn't a RP'd character there. Not exactly the sociable sort, it's no big deal if Lari doesn't remember him. LOL

Hi! Nice to meet you! =D ...Obviously, I never roleplayed at Artemis, but I'm glad you joined! ^^
Yay for Biology! I want to be a Biology major in college. Just a junior/almost senior in high school for now, though. xD I'm Shikai, by the way. Welcome!

You're in Genetics? Too cool! I started out in that, but two terrible profs and badly designed courses dissipated all of my interest. Plus I got into Psych and Anthro a lot more and ended up just Majoring in Biology and Minoring in Arts Psychology. Lot more freedom to take what actually interests me! Including Earth Sciences. Squeeee!
Man, PCR must be paaainful. I had a lab in my "Intro to Genetics" course in the first term, and few of my things turned out...I just wasn't made for experiments I guess!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm glad to be here. And yeah, I'm kind of biology and especially genetics obsessed. The PCR's not so bad. I actually kind of love it, except for all the waiting around for the reaction to finish and then for the gel to run.
I actually have a science based blog, but I'm still working on it and it's not exactly purely science so everyone might not like it. It leans to the left a bit. Anyway, once I get more posts up I'll post the link if anyone wants to take a look. It'll have some details of my research as well.
