A'idin arched his eyebrow at the way she said the word girls and couldn't help laugh. He shook his head and placed his hands on his hips. Oh she was a spit fire this one!
"Looking for daggers?" he asked, lifting a hand to rub at the bridge of his nose. He had seen a few nice blades at one of the smith stalls. He hadn't seen anything to his liking and had no need of a blade himself.
He looked Crown over carefully, noticing her bronze slip off her shoulder. He shook his head and turned his attention back to Crown.
"Well, I have some spare marks if you want on badly enough," he offered, smiling brightly, his bright blue eye sparkling. He didn't see any harm in buying the girl a blade of her own. With the way holders were toward Dragon Men she might need one. He gestured toward the closet smith stall. "And no argument about it being too expensive, I'm not going to be buying anything here," he said, holding up a hand to for stall any argument she might make.

//-giggles- Glomp is a kleptomaniac!
The Bronze stayed ontop of the stall, watching the bauble interestedly while Phoria settled down next to Glomp, watching him. Crown, meanwhile, was watching the male as he laughed at her.
"What?"
She asked, scowling.
"Girls are weird."
'Looking for daggers?'
The topic switched the anger off imediatly.
"Yup!"
'Well, I have some spare marks if you want on badly enough.'
Offering money to her? No! Neither a borrower or a lender be, she had learned, and she would never have the mark's to pay him back.
'And no argument about it being too expensive, I'm not going to be buying anything here.'
The girl gaped at him.
"You can read minds?"
And then she remembered her original argument.
"No! I'm perfectly alright, I don't need one. I just wanted it, and besides, Drudge's aren't allowed weapons so I'd have to sneak it in."
She shrugged, used to her fate.
Glomp, meanwhile, was watching his baubles. The vender would pick something up and hand it to the person and they would hand something back... Now all he needed was to hand something back! Fluttering up to perch on his hindlegs, impressive wings flashing out and nearly smacking a scolding Phoria, he scanned around. Something to give... Ah! Swooping down, Glomp swooped down and plucked up a small piece of twisted metal, once a beltbuckle. Fluttering up, he landed on the stall and dropped the buckle, carefully grabbing the necklace and soaring upwards to drop it at Euphoria's feet. She cooed at him, and he chattered back. Of course it was for His! Her's would be next! It took a few moments longer to find a crumpled up piece of paper, and he dropped that off next, swiping up the bracelet and offering it to Euphoria when he was safely settled up on the awning. One more... An old ribbon, fluttering on the ground became the third offering, and he dropped that next to the pile as he grabbed his shiny bauble.
Now, before this Glomp had been doing fine, as the Trader was focused on a customer on the other side of the awning, and was ignoring the small half-grown Bronze. The third try, however, the trader saw what was happening and yelled at the critter to drop that! Glomp was having none of that, and startled besides swooped up with his trinket, grabbed Crown's and then darted to her, landing on her shoulder as the Trader came running after him, yelling about thieves. The girl turned to him, confused, startled, and moreso, angry. Nobody yelled at her Flits!
"What is going on?"
She asked him, planting herself in the dirt and Euphoria came over, having draped herself in her own necklace.
'You're flit's stole those trinkets!'
Glomp fluttered up, indignant. He did no such thing, explaining so to Crown through pictures. Of course, the angry girl found amusement and enjoyed throwing her head back and her chin high in the air, managing to look down on the man although he was taller.
"Surely you saw the pile of... Items on the table? My flitter believed he was trading you for what he got, he did not steal them at all."
The man was flabbergasted.
'Trade? Miss, that was a piece of metal, a ribbon, and a scrap of paper.'
Crown shrugged, an icy glint to her eye even as she wrapped her hand around Glomp and settled him and his items against her chest.
"He thought he was trading sir, just attracted by your work."
//Just incase A'idin would want to say something, I'll end her. xDD My baby's a klepto, yes he is!

"Gonna be late, gonna be late..."
A young man hurtled himself from the Infirmary, stripping himself of his robes and flinging them at a passing drudge with a curt order to put them in the Candidates Barracks as he ran a hand through his hair, making it stand on end. That happened at times, the shorter cut hair sometimes raising itself all the way up when it had been run through again and again with a harried hand. It had been a busy day, made slower by the constant glances Kal threw at the hourglass.
He was meeting a fellow Candidate at the ferry today to go the Gather, and of course everybody hurt themselves today! It made sense, he guessed, that with the ensuing chaos of course everybody and their brother would hurt themself. A yelp as the call came from the pass that the ferry was leaving, and the long-legged lope Kal was using suddenly turned into a ground-eating sprint as he dove onboard just in time. Of course, now to find her... Pushing and shoving through the ferry, it took only a few minutes for the ferry to arrive at the Hold, and Kal suddenly had a horrid thought. She had stood him up. He had agreed to acompany her... And she stood him up.
A disgruntled snort, and he was first in line to get off, striding off and spinning back around to scan the ferry again. Well, he would just have to find a new pretty girl to go with, if the girl had decided that he wasn't good enough. With a murderous glare set on his face, he watched one by one as people got off the boat, laughing cheerily with a friend or two. Of course, no one was single.

Of course, Cilnah had been on of the first to the ferry, as she had nothing to do that day, and there was a mixture of boredom and anticipation the compelled her to get where she was going. Of course, it was hurry up and wait, and as people pressed into the ferry, there was less and less chance of spotting her companion for the day. There was always the chance that he had decided the Gather wasn't worth his time, but somehow she doubted that. Kal didn't strike her as the type to stand someone up. So, as the ferry left for the Hold, she settled in for the few minute wait, pressed against the far end so that one the thing stopped again she would of course be one of the last people off it. She hoped Kal wouldn't be too upset...
Finally she was able to step off, and she gave a deep sigh of relief to be out of the crushing feeling. But now the trick was to find him. She pushed a stray strand of hair from her face, most was confined in a loose ponytail, and slowly looked around, a troubled look on her face. Starting to become convinced that she had indeed come to the Gather by herself, a frown pulled at the edges off her lips. Until she spotted a familiar, intense gaze. "Kal!" the girl called out, a huge grin on her face as she bounded over to him. "I'm glad I found you. You wouldn't believe the amount of people on the ferry.... Well, maybe you would, since you were on it and all, but still! I was pressed right up against the edge.... Hey, what's with the scowl?" she asked, noticing his very cold expression for the first time in her ramblings. Had she already done something to upset him? She wouldn't be surprised.
Her excitement ebbed some as she watched him, but around her neck the Brown had stopped looking around with anxiety and noticed the person in front of him. Makamae gave a happy chirp and shot out from Cilnah's shoulder to wrap himself around Kal's neck. It seemed he had taken quite a liking to the boy.

Awww, she stood him up. Growing more and more hurt, which basically meant more and more angry, he settled himself into a firm stance, arms crossed over his chest and startling eyes flickering over the group...
'Kal!'
So intent on pouting, he didn't hear her. Maybe he could bribe the ferry guy to take him back over...
'I'm glad I found you. You wouldn't believe the amount of people on the ferry.... Well, maybe you would, since you were on it and all, but still! I was pressed right up against the edge.... Hey, what's with the scowl?'
It wasn't until the very end that he realized someone was at his side, and talking to him. Startled, he looked down, and there she was! Immediately the scowl lifted into the flashed third degree burn smile, and he uncrossed his arms, turning to face her fully. Of course, it was right then that the Brown shot out from around her neck to his, startling the male and making him almost loose his balance.
"Ah!"
He yelped, trying to look down at his neck until realizing that the Brown Makamae was clinging to him. A laugh, and the boy was reaching a long finger up to scratch gently at the eyeridges of the flitter, turning to her.
"I was afraid you ditched me, but how could I have thought that? I mean, it's not every day that a pretty girl get's to come to gather with me."
Linking his arm in hers, he efficiently started them off with the crowd of candidates, bending over slightly to make conversation.
"So! What've you been up to since I last got to see you at our wonderful work session together? Saving lives of people everywhere with good cooking?"
He flexed the hand wrapped with bandages self-consciously as he dropped it back down to his pocket, forgetting the Brown's presence on his shoulder. His hand had gotten infected, of course, and the other Healer's had had a good time teasing him about the stupidity of his actions, forgetting to wear bandages and forgetting to take care of it. For someone with such care of other patients, he sucked at taking care of himself.
"I've been doing more interesting things than washing tables."
Maybe that would get a rise out of her... It would be nice if the girl would get mad at him for once, if he could get any rise out of her...

His sudden shift from scowl to smile startled her, and she did a small double take, studying him as if wondering if this was the same person she'd met before. But it was, she assured herself. The same manner, the same arrogance that sheltered a surprisingly interesting person. And that arrogance was showing itself now. There was that high and mighty attitude again. She simply laughed at it. "Of course, Kal. I would never pass up an opportunity to go to the Gather with you." Really, she would never pass up the opportunity to go to the Gather. These things were so boring on one's own.
Cilnah's attention was caught by a flash of white as he lowered his hand. A bandage. So, he had finally switched that cloth for proper bandaging had he? But why was he still wearing it. The cuts should have healed by now. Unless they were infected? Her expression tightened and she turned her eyes away from the thing, still feeling the humiliation of not being allowed to help. In fact being pushed away from the help as if she would simply do more harm. But perhaps she would have. He was the Healer, after all.... "No one has gotten sick or starved to death, no," she answered tersely.

'Of course, Kal. I would never pass up an opportunity to go to the Gather with you.'
Silly child, don't stroke his ego. It was already big enough without you having to do that.
He had been watching her, and saw the way she glanced at the bandage before looking away aversely, suddenly tightening up.
'No one has gotten sick or starved to death, no.'
Eck, what did he do? What had he just said or did to make her all col and mean? Something with his hand of course, did she feel bad that he was trying to make her feel better when he had hurt himself? The last time she had acted this way, he had been teasing her (or he thought so), and she had gotten not quite the reaction he was looking for. So, what this time? He wasn't teasing her, and she wasn't one to mope around feeling sorry for herself. Ah well, direct approach is best.
"What?"
Or he just had teased her, about the food, and the argument that they had had before.
"What's wrong? What did I do?"
Curiosty killed the cat, after all, but satisfaction brought it back, and perhaps he might be able to do something in fixing the problem. Aww, my little Kal is growing up...

"Pardon?" She looked at him blankly for a moment, wondering what he was talking about. "You haven't done anything," she answered, smoothly avoiding the first question. It a way this was true, he hadn't done anything to her. But in a way it also wasn't, for he had made one of the worst possible things for this girl. In his own way, he had criticized her actions in a scathing way, pulling his hand abruptly away when all she had been trying to do was help. And once she was hurt, she was not one to easily forgive, though for some reason she'd kept up the relationship with this one, though in the past she'd had no problems in the past severing relationships easily.
Again, the little Brown took the moment to create a distraction. The activity had caught his attention again, and he gave a nervous keen, nuzzling closely to Kal's neck, as if asking for protection.

A'idin listened to her argument and frowned, making a mental note of what to give her as a gift if...no when she impressed. He shook his head and sighed. "Alright Miss Crown," he said teasingly, looking up as he heard the vendor yelling.
He noted Crown's stance and couldn't help but admire her courage and spirit. He shifted to stand behind her, crossing his arms as he looked at the man. He knew he looked menacing in his eye patch and that didn't bother him. These people needed to learn to respect the dragon riders and any that lived at the weyr, yes even drudges.
Crown was part of the weyr now and deserved more respect. Even if she was just a drudge, in his way of thinking any one at the weyr deserved respect from those they protected. The lower cavern workers helped keep the dragon riders fed and at full strength for 'Fall which was more then those holders beholden to them did.
He frowned at the man, giving silent support to Crown. If the man wanted to make something of it, well, he'd have to set him straight wouldn't he?

'Pardon?'
She looked at him so blankly, so confused, that at first he thought he had been wrong in assuming that anything was wrong at all.
'You haven't done anything.'
But her answer displaced that, and he rose one single eyebrow, looking at her.
"Which means that something's wrong because you just ignored that question."
Kal indeed, had never meant to critic anything. Blood, he knew, carried disease, and he hadn't wanted her to get sick, as he was around sickness so often himself. He had thought that he was doing something helpful... And it seemed, although he would not know it if he ever would, that in trying to watch out for her, he had made her mad. Apparently, she was just as sensitive as he was, although both hid it, him under a brash personality, her under a calm sweet one.
A keen next to his ear made him forget about her for a moment, and he looked at the Brown that was clinging to him, wrapping himself around Kal's neck. Long fingers reached up to gently untwine him, curling the creature in his hands and holding him to his chest with both the injured and uninjured hand. He looked down at it as he moved it, wincing slightly, to comfort the small creature best he could.
"I should have let you help me with it... Wrapping it in the dirty clothe, all the apprentices are laughing at me for ignoring it as long as I did. But I was more worried about you and little guy here..."
A shrug, and he held him with one hand, petting him with the injured one softly.
"Hush, hush, no one's going to hurt you..."
Those startling eyes turned on her.
"Now, what is wrong? Please, tell me?"
Pleading eyes looked at her, hoping that he could fix whatever it was before the day started crummy and ended that way.
