Journye allowed a soft smile to curve the corners of her mouth at his words, they both thought themselves the fault. She shook her head slowly and tilted her head a bit as she spoke "Then perhaps we are both forgiven then," she said softly, not blaming him, but willing to forgive he if thought himself to blame as long as he was willing to forgive her as well.
"I agree the rules are difficult to get used to, even more so for a weyrling," she added as she glanced at Lucaith with a tender smile for him "But they make it all worth it in the end," she said after a long moment of staring at her blue.
She lifted her eyes back to Aclaryn's jade green ones and bit her bottom lip thoughtfully on how to answer his question about tensions. She really shouldn't have said anything at all, but he was new and didn't know yet and she was afraid to talk to her fellow weyrlings for more then just because of her old colorations. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, licking her lips nervously as she glanced around.
"You will probably learn about it soon enough, but the weyr is divided," she said softly, taking a careful step closer to him so that he could hear her soft spoken words, tilting her head to make it look like she was staring up at him dreamily, so if anyone passed they would merely think they were flirting again, but her eyes were serious "I am afraid to tell you any more details then that in the open. Its ripping the weyr apart, tearing friends apart," she said with a sad shake of her head.
"Thats all I can tell you in the open," she said as she stepped back, glancing about again.
Lucaith came back over to his rider, sensing sadness in her again, but could tell it didn't come from the boy she was talking to. He nuzzled his muddy nose against her thigh before looking at Aclaryn for a long moment. Journye watched her blue, surprised that for once the naive little one wasn't filling her mind with questions.
Luciath shifted closer to Aclaryn and looked up at him Will he scratch me mine? he asked his rider and Journye couldn't help, but love the little blue for breaking a tense moment. Journye chuckled and looked back up at the young man and smiled brightly "Lucaith would like you to scratch him. He likes his eye ridges scratched as well as the center of his snout," she said.

Aclaryn’s eyes softened as he watched Journye exchange a loving glance with her blue dragon. As much as he’d wanted to hold a grudge against the creatures who took him away from his home, dragons were quickly dissolving any resentment he felt toward them. It was nice to think that, despite all the ‘hardships’ he had to endure on their account, the reward might be well worth it all, as Journye said.
However, his expression became more serious as hers did, and she seemed to struggle with something. Aclaryn frowned, and he listened intently as she described the tension in the weyr. Aclaryn gave a sharp intake of breath unintentionally as Journye stepped very close to him, caught unprepared for her sudden proximity, but he could tell from her eyes that she was only intending to look like she was flirting now. Why? Ah, because the information she was giving him was not common knowledge, apparently. Or at least, knowledge the weyrleaders would tolerate talk of.
He stood quietly for a moment, absorbing this information. Journye had been vague about how the weyr was divided, but he supposed that there wasn’t much she could say given the circumstances. But what did it mean, divided? Well, it wasn’t good news, to be sure. Aclaryn sighed. So the weyr’s conflict was with itself, in addition to the holds? He wasn’t sure how to react to the news. Well, he supposed, it didn’t yet affect him anyway as he was still a relative outsider to the weyr. He put the disquieting information to the back of his mind for now, because the little blue dragon was suddenly looking at him.
Aclaryn fidgeted slightly as the dragon stared at him. Lucaith, wasn’t it? However, his mouth broke into a wide grin as Journye relayed the blue’s request. “Me?” He repeated, surprised. “His eye ridges, eh?” Somewhat awkwardly, Aclaryn moved toward the blue, reaching a hand toward the spot. Gingerly, he ran his fingers over the skin, afraid of hurting the soft hide. He had never scratched a dragon’s eye ridges before, after all! However, he slowly lost his awkwardness, his smile softening.

Lucaith pressed against the scratching and allowed his eyes to drift half closed, his eyes whirling a light blue in contentment. Journye smiled and looked up at Aclaryn "You can scratch a bit harder then that, I know his hide seems very thin, but its tougher then it looks," she said reassuringly, remembering how hesitant she had been to touch his hide after he had hatched.
Luciath nuzzled against Aclaryn's hand He gives good scratches mine. I like him. the blue delcared to his rider and Journye chuckled softly. She smiled brightly "He likes you he said," she relayed the message to Aclaryn.
She looked at the young man for a moment and grinned to herself, she had a feeling he would impress a high ranking color, just the way he carried himself. She nodded to herself and looked down to Lucaith who was leaning into the petting, humming in delight as he closed his eyes completely.

Aclaryn’s eyes flicked up to meet Journye’s as she reassured him that he wouldn’t hurt the little blue, and he smiled in acknowledgement. What hide dragons had! His first impressions of dragons had been poor indeed, and he had quite expected the creatures to feel as rough and mean as he had gathered they were in temperament.
But this was certainly not so. Lucaith was so soft, the hide smooth and slick with oil lovingly rubbed into his skin by his rider. Scratching the dragon’s eye ridges, gazing down at him, well, it was almost – and that was a big almost, now – like having his own dragon. He couldn’t hear Lucaith, and he doubted Lucaith could hear him, but he almost felt as though he could sense the trust and serenity coming from the dragon.
Absorbed in his thought momentarily, Aclaryn snapped out of his reverie as Journye spoke. His face brightened at once, a wide grin on his face. “He said that? Really?” He asked, and then looked back to Lucaith. “Er, thanks, Lucaith. For what it’s worth, I like you, too.” He felt a bit silly talking to the dragon, as he knew he would hear no response, but it seemed to be the polite thing to do. Plus, he really was happy to hear that the dragon liked him.
“Must be nice to have a dragon. What’s it like?” Aclaryn asked as he absently scratched away at the blue’s eye ridges. Perhaps weyr life wouldn’t be so bad, if he could only survive candidacy! Well, he would find a way, he was sure. He would make do.
“Who knows, maybe I’ll impress a blue like him someday.” He thought aloud, smiling. He wasn’t very familiar with the dragon colors and rankings yet, but Lucaith was a beautiful little creature, and he knew he would be happy to have such a companion. Besides, as a dragonrider, he would surely regain some of his lost freedoms.

Journye looked thought for a moment at his question "Well, its a bit hard to explain, but it is a wonderful experience," she said as she looked down at Lucaith lovingly.
Lucaith was nearly purring with delight as he leaned into the attention. For the first time he decided to speak to someone other then his rider I am glad you like me and that you are talking to my Journye he told Aclaryn.
Journye was a bit surprised, but smiled at her little blue "It was the best day of my life when Lucaith chose me," she said with a slight blush. She looked up at Aclaryn and smiled again "I think you might impress a brown or even a bronze," she said with a nodded "Either of those suit you so well,"
((my muse is napping sorry ><.))

“Wonderful, hm?” Aclaryn repeated absently, and a glance at Journye’s face revealed more about her feelings than words could. He continued scratching the blue, but stopped abruptly, leaping back in shock as an entirely foreign voice entered his mind. His eyes were wide open in surprise, and for a moment, he stood, unable to do anything in his stunned state. Had the dragon really just spoken to him? It was an entirely new sensation, hearing a voice in his head that was not his own. Not…unpleasant, simply unexpected.
He shook his head and blinked, and grinned sheepishly at Journye. “Sorry! Wow, that was just…never had anything like that happen before!” He exclaimed. “So that’s what it’s like to communicate with a dragon! To have another voice in your head like that. I’d wondered…” Aclaryn said, speaking a bit too fast, his words coming out in a rush until they trailed off entirely. He sighed, struggling to regain his composure. He lost it so rarely, it was quite embarrassing that Journye had seen him in such a state. Especially since she was quite…no, he reminded himself, glancing at the little, innocent blue dragon to emphasize the point in his mind. She was a weyrling, he wasn’t allowed to get involved with her.
Of course, it certainly didn’t help matters that a slight blush had crept over her face. However, his eyebrows rose slightly as she suggested that he would impress a brown or a bronze. He hadn’t given much thought to what color he would impress, but he couldn’t help but grin at the thought of him with a bronze. “A bronze, eh? They’re the big flashy ones, right?” He chucked to himself. “Ah, I’m pretty sure I won’t impress one of those.” Aclaryn said, but didn’t elaborate on his reasons. If what he had seen and heard about bronzes was correct, they only picked boys who were definitely straight. While Aclaryn was attracted to women, he had had enough slightly unsettling interests in those of his own gender to know that a bronze was unlikely to find him suitable. Ah well, he wasn’t sure he wanted one of them anyway. Let Treylis have one of the arrogant little things. Or big things, rather. He ran a hair through his hair in a subconscious expression of his awkwardness. He shouldn’t have said anything on the subject, for that was hardly something he wanted to discuss with Journye, a girl. And an attractive one, no less. He hoped she would press the matter, and looked back to Lucaith as though hoping to find refuge there.

Journye couldn't help but smile at Aclaryn's reaction to her Lucaith talking to him "You're the first person he has done that for besides me. It is a little difficult to get used to at first, but its nice to always have someone just a thought away," she said with a soft laugh.
She tilted her head slightly as he spoke, brushing stray strands of hair out of her eyes. She gave a slight shrug at his words, after all she was impressed to a blue and that pretty much gave away the fact that she was interested in both genders herself.
"Well, there are a couple of female weyrlings bonded to browns," she said with another grin, remembering the murmuring that had ran rampant through the cavern at the hatching. "Everyone was shocked when it happened, but the dragons chose their own. And it wasn't as big of a shock as the twin golds," she said.
Lucaith looked up at his rider then at Aclaryn. He made a soft rumbling sound to them both before wandering back over to the water to splash some more.
Journye chuckled and shook her head as she watched her blue for a moment. She looked back over to Aclaryn "Well, I suppose I gave away part of why the weyr is in such high tensions. The twin golds was such a shock and the two young women that impressed disagreeing with each other about how the weyr should be run. One agrees with the Weyrwoman the other does not," she explained softly and sighed.
"I just hate seeing so much tension between people that were once close friends, wondering who to trust, who not to trust," she looked up at Aclaryn and smiled sadly "What happens if Thread really does come?"
She shook her head "Sorry to be so down," she said as she made a face then smiled "I was thinking of joining Lucaith for a swim if you'd like to join us," she offered.
