"You crazy Fire-Lizards!"
At a first glance, you would notice pair of Flitters, one Brown, one Blue, zoomed over the lake water, doing what must have been the Fire-Lizard version of cackling. Half sloshing, half swimming through the water, was their Bonded, Raixeh, who was doing his best to recapture them.
At a second glance, (if you were female, in particular), you might notice that Raixeh wasn't wearing a shirt - just a pair of trousers that he'd set aside for swimming, and had a nice build on him. You would also notice, that the Fire-Lizards were holding one shoe each, and holding them precariously over the water, while swooping and diving playfully at Raixeh, whose expression was a mixure of exasparated amusement and irritation.
"If you two get those wet and ruin them, Mom'll skin you alive!" Then, he added as an after thought, "And me, too, 'prolly, for letting you get ahold of them."
He leaped up, grabbing in vain for the shoe that the Blue had, as he dove down, and then flapped back up just in time. "Arquas! Dirkku! GIVE THOSE BACK!"
At a third glance, anyone who knew Raixeh, would figure that his Flitters liked to play games and have adventures as much as he did - and had a penchant for getting in nearly as much trouble, if not the same or more, than their Bonded.

Rytia, who had come down to the lake as of recently noticed a guy having trouble with his flitts. She laughed as he dove for his shoe, and had almost hoped he'd fall into the water. She couldn't help but notice the body build of this guy. It was a nice body build, and she wondered, had she seen this guy before?

Raixeh did fall into the water, when he heard the girl's laugh. He started, in mid-landing, and slid on a rock, balance thrown off, down into into the water.
Luckily it wasn't very deep, and there weren't any rocks where his head had fallen, so he didn't hit himself. He surfaced quickly, spluttering and coughing a bit, from having inhaled water.
Above, Arquas and Dirkku were snickering heartily, and zoomed back for the shore, landing not to far from the girl.
"Gaaah. Those Fire-Lizards will be the death of me..." He muttered, as he stood up and turned around, to see them perch on a log, not to far from the source of the laughter he'd heard; a young girl, close to his age.
"Though that was funny, did you?" He called over to her as he made his way back to land, mock-indignation and anger in his voice. Then, he broke into a friendly, amused grin. "Well, so did I."
Dirkku and Arquas, having put the shoes on the log and started a rapid-fire spout of Flitter-chatter, took notice to late when a tall shadow fell over them. They stopped abruptly, and looked up slowly, the jewel-like eyes' greeny-blue coloring deciving their dramatic 'fear.'
"Gotcha!" Raixeh snagged them both quickly into his arms, and gave them a scrutinizing look. He glance up at the girl, a smirk on his face.
"So, what do you think I should do with them? What punishment fits the crime of shoe-theft?"
He made quite a picture, standing, dripping wet, hair plastered to his head, by a big log, too playfully struggling Fire-Lizards in his arms, eyes twinkling, and one leg c o c k e d slightly outward, as it usually was.

Rytia couldn't help laughing a second time, especially when he well into the water. She couldn't help smiled as he got out, but when he came over to her, her shyness got the better of her. "Ah, well." she said, when he asked her about the punishment. She just couldn't think of anything that wouldn't hurt them too bad. "You're not going to /hurt/ them are you?" she asked, a bit worried for them, after all, shoe-theft wasn't as bad as a food-thief.

Raixeh blinked at her, slightly caught off guard by her question. "Naw." He shook his head, and then, quite suddenly, tossed both Flits up and into the air.
Dirkku squwaked, lashing his wings out and catching his brother on the back of his head. Arquas retaliated by shrieking back, and darting at his brother, which started a game of chase.
Just as Raixah, smirking at his companions' antics, had flopped down on the ground at an angle from the girl, another pair of Fire-Lizards, Brown and Green, appeared from nowhere, and joined in the chase.
"Those are my sister's Fire-Lizards." He explained, turning his gaze to the girl. "My name's Raixeh. My Brown is Dirkku, and the Blue is Arquas. My sister's Brown is Tyrre, and her Green is Sjori. The four of them are siblings, too." Her laid back on the ground, putting his arms behind his head to prop it up so he could see her, or the Flits, better.

Rytia smiled. "How cute." she said. "My name is Rytia, are you a candidate?" she asked curiously.
(Meh, can't think. D:)

"'Ren, you know I won't ever let you fall!" Altair protested, dragging fruitlessly at the pale young woman's left arm. Her right arm was occupied with the task of stroking the smooth hide of the tiny green fire-lizard, asleep on her bony shoulder.
Corenne nodded, though she continued to step carefully, feeling ahead with a toe before placing a foot in a place that she could be sure was safe. She didn't know the ground around here. She didn't know where she was, how she'd get back (though she had a good idea), and she certainly didn't know how she was supposed to get through that maze of hallways some called a weyr to find her room. At Altair's sharp intake of breath, though, a sure sign that he was about to speak, she quickly spoke first. "I don't have the advantage of being able to look before I leap, Altair. Therefore, I will double-check before I leap, and don't you think of asking me to do otherwise!"
"But I–"
"But nothing, 'Tair, you'll wake the little darling," she snapped, but instantly her cheeks flushed, for if anyone was to wake the sleeping green, it would be she. However, Shilai remained as still as ever on her shoulder, and all was temporarily forgiven.
It was no surprise to either when Corenne's keen ears were the first to pick up on the other voices. Suddenly timid, she clung to Altair's arm as though she were drowning and he were the only solid thing around. "Altair, there're already other people at the lake, and I can't tell who they are!" she hissed, sightless eyes wide with fear. What if they were the Holdless, and and come to plunder their modest farm? Well, Altair's farm, really; there wasn't a whole lot that she could contribute to it, though she did do the best that they could.
Altair, on the other hand, was not nearly so quick to panic, though he broke into a wide grin as he saw the splashing figures. "It'd figure you don't recognise them, 'Ren, seeing how we've hardly met anyone at this weyr just yet. But you wait, soon you'll be able to know everyone's voices as well as back... home." His voice broke slightly on the word 'home'. He'd lived there so long, he'd brought it back from Turns of neglect, along with the help of his sister, and made it into a modestly prosperous holding. And now it had all been taken from him, but in favor of so much more.
She nodded, her nervousness still not quite assagued for she still clutched tightly to his arm. But as they drew nearer and he hailed the two already at the lake, she made no more evidence of it. Shilai, however, became quite excited, her tiny wings stirring as her jeweled eyes noticed what the humans had not: more fire-lizards; three of them.
"Sorry if I'm intruding on anything. I'm Altair," he said as he walked onto the sand nearer the shore, Corenne trailing slightly behind him, her death-like grip nearly cutting off the circulation in his wrist. "And this is Corenne," he added, as a discreet nudge to her shoulder failed to produce an introduction.
That, though, she did notice, and her cheeks again flushed, as she muttered a quick "Oh, hi."

Rytia jumped and blinked. "Ah, I'd better be leaving now." she said, blinking at the new people who had come. "I heard about a firelizard hatching, I um, I'll go and try and impress a firelizard." she said and dashed off.

((Felina, there're four Fire-Lizards, not three. x3))
Raixeh didn't get a chance to answer Rytia, before she jumped up and left, just as a pair of new people came along. He blinked, looking after the girl, slightly unnerved from the rapid escape, before turning to the newcommers.
"Hullo. I'm Raixeh, and no, apparently you're not interupting anything. She went off to the Fire-Lizard Hatching they're having. I didn't even know there was one." He made a face, and glanced up at the four Fire-Lizards who were in the air above them, who had noticed Shilai, and were trilling in welcome to her, to come and play.
"I think I have enough of the silly things on my hand, though." He grinned fondly up at the four darting above them in their game of chase.
Looking back at Altair and Corenne, he inquired, "So, are you two Candidates as well?"

((o.o;; Sorry. I miscounted...)) ((Note on my formatting. Italic quotes are things my characters are replying to. Bold is words being spoken directly to another player's character. Just so you know. ^^))
"Hullo. I'm Raixeh, and no, apparently you're not interupting anything. She went off to the Fire-Lizard Hatching they're having. I didn't even know there was one."
As her mind registered the voice in its immense database of recognisable sounds, Corenne relaxed markedly, nodding happily. Her hand, however, still clung tightly to Altair's wrist. That, though, may have been force of habit more than anything, as she had spent the past few days with no idea where walls and furniture were. She wasn't sure which was more painful: hitting her head on a wall, or hitting her shin on a wayward bench. "Oh, yes! That's where I... where this little beauty chose me. Altair says it's a green, so that means it's a... she, right?
"So, are you two Candidates as well?"
Altair smiled. The uncertainty; perhaps that was why she was so endearing. Or perhaps it was simply her boundless energy. He wasn't sure, and it didn't really matter anyway. As Corenne murmured to the little green, her words not distinguishable, he figured that she had no intention of answering the second question. He shook his head slightly, twining a strand of dark hair around a pale finger; the contrast was immediately obvious. But for a long time, he'd thought that who Corenne was wouldn't make any difference. Then, though, when the Searchrider had carefully explained why it would, why she could not Stand, he had been painfully aware of those brilliant blue eyes that reflected the beauty of the sky, but that did so little else. And now, with the Hatching to come, how could they but be separated, severed by circumstances utterly beyond their control? The dragons would choose who they would, and if he was to be among those chosen, he could not deny it.
"No," he said, emphasising the word with a second subtle shake of his head. "I am, but Corenne... isn't. I couldn't allow her to be left alone, though, so she's here."
At the mention of her name, Corenne's head snapped up, taking with it a mildly distressed fire-lizard that had gotten slightly entangled in her masses of curly hair. "I'm not what?" she asked petulantly, her hands busy reassuring the hatchling.
"A Candidate, 'Ren. You're not a Candidate."
Her face darkened. "No, I'm not. That stuffy Searchrider said as much, didn't he?"
