Keldara watched as M'kel started towards the tunnel, then turned back to her again. She grinned at his joke, watching him carefully, wondering what he was doing. And then he spoke, leaving her slightly started; Keldara didn't know why he would want to see a dolphin (he was a dragnrider afterall) but...oh well. Hesitating only for a moment, she slowly followed him with a smile. "Sure," she said.

Already, his plan seemed to be working, for Keldara's smile began more genuine and her hesitance started to diminish. M'kel grinned amiably and began striding across the Bowl once more. "I've always wanted to meet a talking fish," he confided, entering the shadowy Tunnel Entrance. "I want to know what all the hype is about. I'm sure it's mostly exciting for non-dragonriders to converse with a semi-intelligent animal, for they've never experienced the bond one can have with a dragon." At this his smile became more reflective, for he couldn't help but pity all those poor Pernese who never did get to experience the connection to a dragon.
Exiting the Tunnel, the bronzerider began striding joltingly down the grassy slope. Wagon tracks were already becoming visible on a beaten down path, for goods were moved up the slope from the sea to the Weyr quite frequently. M'kel followed this established trail, glancing around as he did so at the lush jungle on either side of this open slope. Trees had yet to reclaim the slope from the last fiery eruption that had exited the volcano through the Tunnel, though grass had converted the upper layers of the volcanic rock to usable soil.
The crashing of waves grew louder as he approached the sparkling sea. A modest dock protruded from the shores of the island for barges to rest at, but construction was already taking place to expand this port. After all, once the tithes began pouring in to support the growing Weyr population, the traffic at this port would increase greatly.
Ignoring the workers, M'kel strode out on the wooden planks, shaking his head at this weak material. It wouldn't stand up to Threadfall, that was for sure. He paused at the end, glancing at the new Bell that had just been installed. "Well?" he queried, unsure how to proceed. Was there some kind of sequence that needed to be rung out to summon the dolphins?
