(Location - Storage rooms)
Riley muttered under her breath as she tugged sharply at her blanket again, swearing when she heard it rip. She wrinkled her nose and held up the glow she had been given by the head woman, looking around herself at the cluttered rooms. "Doesn't anyone in this sharding place know how to keep a tidy area?" she grumbled, earning a chirp of agreement from the green fire lizard perched on her shoulder.
Riley smiled briefly, cooing lovingly to her little green, glad to at least have this connection to her friend. That thought angered her again as she looked at the piles of boxes around her, sighing loudly. "If only that dratted headwoman had offered to give me some help other then this lantern," she muttered. So what if she had woken the woman early, it wasn't her fault that the rider had dumped her off at the weyr so early without any clothing other then her night gown, nor was it her fault that both queens had decided to rise at the same time and had the weyr in an uproar.
She shook her head and placed the lantern on the hook she spotted on the wall. She looked around and let her blanket fall to the floor, it would only get in the way as she searched. She was wearing her simple night gown, it was modest and covered her, but did nothing for the chill here in the lower storage areas. She tucked a strand of her strawberry blond hair behind her ear and turned her attention to the task at hand, finding clothing that would fit her. She was of average height and weight, so hopefully she could find something here that would work until she could get word to Bryonna to send her some of her clothing.
Lace, her green fire lizard, chirped as she hopped from her person's shoulder to nose about in one of the boxes. Riley smiled softly and turned to the nearest box, wrinkling her nose as she began rummaging through the box. She silently hoped she didn't run into any tunnel snakes, glad that Lace was there to take of any if she did see any.
"Why on Pern did that rider have to kidnap me? And then I was told that there was no one I could go to, to get this straightened out because there was no weyrwoman," she grumbled to herself, knowing that Lace was the only one to listen to her. "For all they know that silly dragon was confused about who he thought should be brought here in the first place. I certainly do NOT want to be here and when I find that rider I am going to give him a piece of my mind. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be digging through these musty clothes looking for something to wear. I would be waking Bryonna with a lovely breakfast," she continued to mutter, her tirade interrupted now and then by chirps from her green fire lizard.
She pushed the one box away and reached up to pull the next one to the floor, only for the who stack to tip over, tumbling down on top of her. She gave a startled little shriek as an avalanche of clothing and other items knocked her to the floor. "Oh shard it!" she screamed as she wriggled her head and arms free, the rest of her weighted down by the tumbled items.

Dust billowed up as Katalyns feet scuffed the ground, occasionally pausing in her slow pace to kick a stone, watching the trail of yet more dust following in its wake. These tunnels were only vaguely familiar to her, having only been through them once as a part of her obligatory candidates chores. That was when she first arrived, a few days before, since then she had picked up the classic candidates trick of avoiding cavern staff at peak times when she was most likely needed.
As was her reason for being there, at that particular time, as the Weyr contented itself in the uproar of the Queens rising. Bah, they could fret all they wanted about the dragons, though she would agree that each Gold was precious, she would prefer to stay detached from that business until the situation arose that she need get involved.
It wasn't long before the sound of another's voice reached her, echoing down the halls periodically. Deciding it was worth a look in, or at least better than simply pacing corridors, she quickened her pace a little in interest. She, for the voice was distinctly female, sounded irritated. Irritated people were often the more interesting for talking to, and it was for this reason that had prompted her interest, that and the fact that the voice was as yet alone, for she would normally have steered away from single female company. But hey, if she indeed turned out to be a pregnant dog, more the fun on Kat's part.
Rounding the corner to the room which the sounds originated from, she stopped and leaned casually against the doorway. So, she'd give that rider a piece of her mind then, would she? Katalyn couldn't help but grin at that. The girl would have to pick her riders carefully, or she could end up with more mind that she gave. Tall, willowy and blonde or not, the smaller girl knew that some of the riders wouldn't think twice before reprimanding the impertinent lass.
The highlight of the spectacle was when the boxes fell, right onto the blonde girl and her green flitter. The best Katalyn could do was stifle the laughter that burst from her before she could think to do anything else, having to increase her efforts two-fold as she heard the girls cursing cry.
Finally regaining control of herself, though still racked by the occasional giggle, she stood straight once more, running her hands through her short spiky hair before calling out to the unsuspecting woman below.
No need to swear, I doubt it will make the boxes feel any worse. No, she shouldn't tease the other so, but it was so funny that she'd simply felt the need to add something of herself to the situation. Probably not the best was she could have announced herself to the other though, she should have been displaying sympathy, but it simply wouldn't come in great enough quantities to overcome the humour. Still, she should attempt something, so instead called Are you alright down there? She failed completely to keep her amusement out of her voice, compounded by the fact that the girl was quite obviously not alright, being pinned under a tumbled stack of boxes and all.

Riley jumped as she heard the voice behind her. She twisted as best as she could to look back at the younger girl, scowling at her. "Do I look alright?" she snapped as Lace wriggled free with a squawk of frustration. The little green shook her wings and and moved away from the pile.
Riley sighed and leaned her head back against the box behind her head, looking up at the girl upside down. "Sorry for snapping, but I have not had the best experience here the last few hours. First a rider kidnaps me, and as soon as I find out who I plan on reprimanding, then those golds started to rise and the head woman refused to help me find any clothes, since that stupid rider didn't even have the decency to grab any of my own clothing, simply wrapped me up in my blankets," she explained, frowning, blinking her eyes rapidly to hold back tears that threatened. She certainly was not about to cry in front of a complete stranger, only her mother and Bryonna were allowed to see her cry.
She wriggled and managed to get a bit more of her torso free, but sh couldn't quite get her legs free. She looked back at Katalyn and arched a brow slightly, her strawberry blond hair all mussed now from her struggles. "Could I possibly implore you to help me out of this mess?" she asked softly, hoping that the girl wouldn't be upset with her for snapping at her.

The snap was well expected, but even so it still earned itself a raised eyebrow from Katalyn, more for the sake of it than anything else, as the other girl clearly couldn't see her well from what she was. But she said nothing, and continued to listen as the other wend on to describe her grand day. She gave a snort of laughter, short and to the point. Sounds fun, she said, sarcastically. Being searched was supposed to be one of the most exciting days in a guys life. From what she'd heard of so far, including her own experience, the same didn't go for the ladies.
She made no effort to move until pleaded to, content for the time being to stand and watch the girl's rapid blinking. She couldn't blame her for holding the tears back, crying in front of a total stranger, not to mention one that had it in her mind to tease, was not something she herself would do either. But still, she had asked for help, and none too unkindly. On my way! she called down brightly, striding the short distance down to the tumbled boxes. Riiiiiiight, let's see, she said upon reaching the young woman and the boxes, surveying the problem critically before acting. If I lift these two up, she said, patting the boxes about waist height to herself, could you manage that one? She indicated the one weighing down on the girls legs, underneath the first two boxes.
Without waiting long for an answer, she proceeded to wrap her arms around the middle box, readied herself, then heaved upward and a little to the side, away from the woman trapped underneath. The boxes were heavy, but she managed to lift them a few inches without too much effort, riders arms not quite straining. You got it?

Riley frowned at the sarcasm, but ignored it for the most part. She very well couldn't run her only hope for help off. Pern only knew how often someone even wandered down this way. She silently sighed in relief when the other girl agreed to help and came over to where she was stuck.
Lace trilled to the other girl as she moved further away from the area to give them room, certainly not wanting to get trapped again. Riley watched Katalyn look over the boxes. She blinked and looked up at her question and nodded rapidly as the other girl began to lift the other boxes. She moved quickly, managing to shift the other box off of her legs and scrambled free. She moved away from the pile and dusted her gown off, coughing lightly.
She sighed in relief and turned to face Katalyn, tilting her head as she looked the other over. After a long moment she held out her hand, smiling slowly. "Thank you. There is no telling how long I would have been stuck here if you hadn't come along. I'm Riley," she said, making an effort to be friendly with the person that just helped her. It wasn't as if she could alienate herself from everyone at the weyr, that would be stupid.

Katalyn dumped the boxes down with a big expulsion of air from her lungs. She swung her arms by her side, loosening the muscles, before turning to regard the other. Looking her critically up and down, she noted that the other was several inches taller than herself. No matter, anyhow, she was used to that. Anyway, she was built like a rake, not at all like the short, stocky Kat.
She quirked a raised eyebrow at the hand that was then offered her, hesitating slightly before taking it, not being entirely used to of comfortable in polite situations. Eh, Katalyn. Glad I could help. ... and laugh at you, her thoughts continues silently.
She took back her hand, instinctively wiping it briefly on her trousers as she looked around. Didn't you say you came down here to look for something? she asked, peering into the boxes beside her that she had just moved.

Riley's brow furrowed slightly when she noticed the other girl, Katalyn she had called herself, wiping her hand on her pants after shaking her own. She bit the inside of her cheek and silently counted to five to keep from saying something, the girl had just helped her after all and if it hadn't been for her, she'd still be stuck under a pile of boxes.
"Nice to meet you Katalyn," she said, forcing a smile as she dusted herself off. She put her hands on her hips and looked around at the mess on the floor, wrinkling her nose. She would probably have to straighten the mess up.
At the girl's question she looked up and nodded before gesturing to what she was wearing, a simple night gown, now torn at the hem. "I came down here looking for some clothes that might fit me and doesn't look too ragged. Since that rider didn't even bother to grab any of my clothing and my dear Lace is too upset so I can't get her to take a message to the hold so that they can either send me some clothing or get me out of here," she explained, reaching up to pet the green fire lizard.
She bent down after a moment to begin shifting through the clothing now all over the floor. If Katalyn wanted to help that was fine, and if she didn't that was fine too.

Still busy peering into boxes, Katalyn completely missed Riley's scowl. If she had she wouldn't have cared.
Clothes... right. She dug her hands into her pockets as she moved backwards and around the corner of the boxes. She might as well help the girl, Riley, it was something to do, and it's not like searching was exactly strenuous. Either that or she could leave and get caught up in the twin-flight pandaemonium upstairs, and she was avoiding that in the first place.
She passed by several piles that had sheets spilling out of them, then past a pile of wherhide helmets, before encountering anything clothe-like. Looking up, only to find her view of Riley blocked by several piles of boxes, she called out to the girl, now on the other side of the store room. I think these are clothes here, she said, toeing the box nearest her. She reached into it with a hand, only to pull it back out clutching a pair of briefs. Well, sort of, she said to no-one in particular, tossing the brief over her shoulder. She mover a couple of boxes over, only to find that those contained socks. Have they got an obsession with underwear here or something? she mumbled, none too quietly.
(ooc: Lol, I love playing her, she's so... ungirly x])

(sorry it took me so long to reply!)
Riley wrinkled her nose as she dug through the boxes near her, finding only moth eaten rags and dusty tools. She glanced up as Katalyn called out to her. She straightened and dusted her hands off as she walked around the boxes to find the other girl.
She arched a brow at the girl's comment and looked down, making a face at boxes of socks and undergarments. "Maybe I'm going to have to wait until I can get a message out to Byronna," she sighed as she moved to another box, her expression brightening slightly as she noticed some shirts in the box.
"Well, this is a start," she said as she knelt down to begin digging in the box, sneezing softly at the dust stirred up. They really ought to have someone clean in here more often.
