I'nk watched Silvrith eating, infatuated with the blue. Of course, his dragon was perfect, and so much better than the other dragons in the clutch. Even Sill's eating was a wondrous sight to behold, in I'nk's opinion. "Don't stuff yourself too much, Sill" He called fondly. His next statement, a warning was far more serious than it ought to have been. "They may have poisoned the herdbeasts here."
He was just worried for Silvrith's safety. After all, they had tried to poison Sidhka several times since I'nk's arrival at the Weyr. But the couldn't want to poison a dragon, could they? Even thread-droppers wouldn't want to hurt one of their precious dragons. Of course, Silvrith had impressed to I'nk, so he wasn't sure what the thread-droppers would want to do to the poor dragon.
Mine. They did not poison the herdbeasts. See how they run about? Besides, these thread-droppers of yours would not dare to hurt me with you to protect me. Silvrith shook his great blue head at his, scaring the nearby creatures with his shimmering hide. He indulged his because he loved the boy, even if his I'nk was a little strange. But this constant fear was beginning to appall the dragon, ever so slightly. It was irrational and it was being fed by whatever the boy thought was possessing the little green cousin.
I'nk gazed at the sparkling blue, confused slightly. "But they tried to poison Sidhka, Sill. Why wouldn't they try to poison you? If I can't protect something as small as she is, how can I hope to protect you?" I'nk wasn't always the brightest of bulbs, but his logic was fast. He couldn't possibly protect the great beast. Not anymore. In the short time they had been together since the hatching, Silvrith had grown by massive amounts. There was no way he could protect something that much larger than he was. Instead, he watched in silence as the dragon went back to consuming the animals allotted to him.
