I doubt that the Meddlers and Admins haven't already thought of this, but we're gonna need more Dragonriders who came along with Sitareh, if we don't want a lot of brothers flying sisters, when the Gold/Greens of Aviciath's Clutch rise... ><
Just a thought. -Sheepish grin- I'll make a coupla Dragonriders (Brown/Blue Riders), if it's okay. -Will 'prolly apply later- But I'm just one person - even if I'm well-known by Felina, Tina, and Anah (and anyone else who's RPed with me) for my obsession with charras... XD;
Anyway, we're gonna need more Draggies. Not to mention when the Greens who came with Sitareh and Aviciath fly; will they want mates who're so much younger than them? o.o Plus, if any of them came from Aviciath's own Clutch (sisters of her), wouldn't that be like, nephews flying aunts? ><
I dunno if it's much of a problem for Dragons or not. To be honest, it's been a while since I've read a DRoP book, so I've forgotten a few things. I may be blowing it out of proportion.
Just thought I'd speak my mind, though...

I would love it if there was to be a lesbian bluerider. For Robika's sake whenever Kmarath rises. *shot* xDDD;;;
I agree with the need for dragons- I may make another rider, but I've only had success with two male riders in my lifetime. D:

Haha. XD
Oh wells. I have a Bronzerider chara who's my absolute favorite to play. <3 But he doesn't really fit unless he's a Bronzerider, though I may try and make him a Brownrider... -Shrug- His Dragon is as large as a Gold, though, and that wouldn't fit for a Brown. -Hackcough- And I dun wanna change either of them anyway, so this was a pointless ramble. x3'

Well, I don't think that it's much of a problem at all for dragons. Inbreeding I mean. After all, the entire population grew from what...6 golds? I can't remember, but I'm sure it wasn't too many. As well, in Dragonflight, Benden Weyr had been down to only one queen for quite some time (the one who laid Ramoth's egg right before death). That means that all of the bronzes she laid were potential mates for her or Ramoth, and all of the greens were flown by all of the blues and browns she laid.
I had thought of the issue myself, with basically all of the dragons being siblings, but I don't think that they look at it that way, nor do riders.
I think the dragons of Pern are basically immune to possible negative effects of inbreeding!

No, I think that inbreeding would be a problem in dragons. Hence Mihall's bronze (can never remember his name!) being grounded during mating flights, since they were afraid he'd fly one of his own clutchmates. 'Course, once he flew Tarrie's gold that wasn't a problem.
Reference was from The Second Weyr, a story out of CoP: FF, if anyone wants to double-check. That's one of the few I don't own yet, so I can't check it.
I may bring in one rider, though I don't want more 'n four characters. I've three now, so one more should be fine. Probably a blue. Depends on what the shadowy rider character in my head develops into. It'll take a while, though; I'm very, very slow at character creation. Hence my recycling characters.

I think that M'hall and co just didn't want to risk it- they didn't know or not, and they just didn't want to risk it when they had just gotten themselves protection from the dragons. M'kel's right- with Benden being the last Weyr, there has gotta be some inbreeding. Mnementh and Ramoth had the same mother, after all. ^^ Unless I'm mistaken, of course.
I own CoP, and I remember it was Sorka who was keeping track, not M'hall. ^^
Psst! Bring in a lesbian bluerider! ;D

Inbreeding probably isn't much of a problem for dragons, or, really, anything native to Pern; the DNA of Pernese organisms was a different structure from that of Terran life, and more resistant to mutation. If I remember right, I think part of it was that it was replicated differently... .. Now I'm going to end up rereading Dragonsdawn 'cause that's going to bug me until I check up on it. xDDD

The DNA structure's not mentioned in Dragonsdawn; I just got through re-reading that earlier today. It's in Dragonsblood, when Wind Blossom mentions it pertaining to the disease. T_T. That book makes me cry every time. I always have to remember not to read it at school, 'cause that was sort of awkward the first time. Thankfully, it was during the TAKS test and no-one saw. Still awkward.
I don't think the situation was quite so desperate. Remember, there was Brekke, too. Or was she after Lessa? And then there was Kylara. And the old queen. I really should re-read Dragonflight, but my copy's out on loan. Maybe I'll buy a second, though biking ten miles to the nearest book store to here's a pain in the rear end, and I think I'd probably have to get it on special order. But then, the book on loan will have to be mailed to me, as it's currently in Texas, and I'm... not. Worth the pain? Probably...
