Rhea shivered. She didn't know between would be so cold. She hoped she wouldn't mind so much when she had her own dragon. Not that she didn't find Mosawyth quite pretty. She just wanted her own dragon.
"Where do you want to go first?"
Rhea looked at the woman in surprise. She hadn't realized that Toni would actually go places she wanted to go. She'd thought she would just get to tag along with Toni and her dragon, and they would wander around or something.
"Er...wherever you want to go would be fine." She would probably end up seeing everything anyway, and she didn't particularly care where they went first. As long as she got to spend time with the beautiful dragon and her rather terse rider.

The little girl seemed to be a little surprised when she asked that immortal question,
What first?
'Er...wherever you want to go would be fine.'
A bollix this was. Where would the girl like to go? Toni had plenty of marks, and didn't mind buying her some things, but the fact that the girl had asked to be brought to the gather and then told Toni she didn't know where she wanted to go...
"Ummm, alright. T-then let's go s-s-shopping. Wyth, I'll see you soon, keep an ear out for us please."
//Yes yes. Do make sure she buys me some oil? Make sure it smells good, because she always gets the cheap oil that only makes the itching stop. I wish to Smell good also. Make sure she buys that.[/i]
The second part was directed to both Toni and Rhea, and the rider only rolled her eyes.
"We will see, Mosawyth."
She turned to the girl.
"S-s-shall we?"[/size]

Rhea smiled gratefully at the woman and her dragon, giggling at the green's request. "Sure, Mosawyth. Nice smelling oils. Got it." The girl then nodded at her escort. "We shall"
Smiling, the child quietly slipped her hand into Toni's, trying to be sociable in the way that only a child can. She wanted Toni to like her so badly now, just because they were together. Of course, there was no way Toni didn't like her. She just wished Toni would talk a little more. She didn't like to do all the talking. Maybe she would try to start a conversation, though.
"Where do you want to go first? I've heard the craft stalls have nice things in them..." She drifted off, hoping Toni would say something in response. Toni was obviously a nice woman. She just needed a little help coming up with things to say was all.

Ironic that it took this little girl about thirty seconds of knowing her to understand Toni, wasn't it? Mosawyth settled herself in the sun, knowing they would be fine, and as they wandered away Toniandra took a look at the little girl she would be escorting.
Small, tiny in fact, she might have been her sister if her hair was a few less shades of red and a little more copper like Toni's own. They were both small, short, slim in stature. Only the eyes were different, the little girl's sharp blue eyes betraying her small stature. It was a startling realization that behind the sweetness might be a girl of spunk.
Startled as a warm hand slipped into hers, she glanced down and almost flinched... Almost. Instead, she angled her hand so that she was more comfortable, and set off, enjoying listen to the little girl speak.
Except she angled off.
Well, this was interesting. Whoever had raised the kidlit had taught her manners.
//The least you can do is be nice.[/i]
Rolling her eyes, she smiled down at the little girl (though they weren't that far off in height, only a few inches).
"I love looking at the craft s-stalls. The metalworker's are my favorite, and the really good weavers."

"I love looking at the craft s-stalls. The metalworker's are my favorite, and the really good weavers."
Rhea smiled up at Toni and nodded. She'd never been to a gather before, so she had no idea what they would find. But she admired the metalworkers so much. When she was small, her father had given her a tiny dragon made of metal. It was such a shame she had lost it when they'd moved to the Weyr.
"The metalworkers sound like they'll be fun to see. Do you know where one is?"
She was going to let Toni take the lead in that one. After all, she didn't know much about a gather. There might be some ritual to a gather, where couples did certain things at certain times and children such as herself weren't permitted to be near them. Which was stupid. She wanted to be in love, too!
The little girl giggled. It was so exciting to be at her first gather. Thank goodness she had found someone who would take her. As if they would deny her adorable self. She prided herself on her cuteness, and anyone in their right mind would appreciate her darling person. Of course, she wouldn't want to have to drag around some kid when she was busy having fun. That wouldn't be any fun at all. A prime example of why Rhea never wanted to grow up. Not ever. Not even if it meant never getting to fall in love or have children of her own (a decidedly adult activity).

-giggles- Naw, just go have kids now! XD
What would Toniandra say if Rhea had told her what she was thinking? Would she have been startled that the small scheming mind in the decidedly cute little girl had alter-ego thoughts about the reason Toni had, in the end, said yes? Perhaps. Perhaps she would have admired her for it. Toni had never really had thoughts like that, so perhaps she would have vaguely smiled and changed the subject... At this point, we would never know. All Toni knew was that, at one time, she had wanted to be a metalcrafter. Of course, her stature, size, and build killed that for her, but before that it was her mother, scoffing at anything the happy little child would tell her.
Toni had, at one time, been like Rhea, young, happy, sweet and smiling. All she had wanted to do was make others happy, and she went to great lengths to make them smile. Indeed, some of those that left would have remembered the little girl that had tottered up to the dragons so readily, always knowing their names and rubbing gentle hands over an eye ridge. She always had something nice to say to the rider's too, who found the young child endearing... Then her mother had decided the young girl would be a Queenrider. Just old enough to Stand, the woman had taken the girl away and began to "teach" her the ways of a Weyrwoman... And Toni had grown up much, much to quickly.
But scatter these thoughts from her mind, before she has to face the truth too quickly.
'The metalworkers sound like they'll be fun to see. Do you know where one is?'
Suddenly, laughter bubbled in Toni, although the brightly colored creations popped just as quickly.
"Yes, but just one? No, no my love, we go to see them all."
Child she may be, but Toniandra was not much better in some aspects, and the naive girl was looking forward to the the gather just as much as her young counterpart. So off they set, Toni steering her over to where the craft stalls had set themselves up. And then down they went, Toni pointing out those things she found herself liking, taking childish delight in having a friend to share this with.

{ooc;;I forgot just how weird Rhea is lol}
Rhea spotted a booth that struck her as being simply wondrous. There were several beautiful wire creations, dragons and runners and felines and even a huge model of the weyr that seemed to take up an entire table. One model in particular caught her eye.
"Hey! Hey! Hey, Toni! That one looks like Mosawyth!" And it did. The metal even had a greenish tint to it. The little girl wondered if the dragon would like to see a sculpture of herself, but decided that dragons didn't care about frivolous things like art. Toni might like it, though. Seeing how Toni liked metal workers so much. Perhaps the woman had been a metalworker in a past life. It was possible. Not everyone spent their time being a dragonrider all the time.
She ran to the woman and pulled on her arm, trying to drag her new friend to the booth. It was too bad she didn't have any marks, because it would be the perfect thank you gift for having brought Rhea to the gather. She'd always wanted to go to a gather, even if she had very little in the way of marks to buy things with, and it only seemed fair to do something to thank Toni for it. She would have wanted a thank you gift if she'd brought someone to a gather. Not that she could bring anyone anywhere without a dragon and too young to go on her own.
But she wanted that dragon model, or one of the felines, which vaguely resembled Keetay and his littler mates. She wouldn't be getting one, but she could dream all she wanted. It was difficult not to see all the amazing things for sale, many of which she wanted very badly, and not envy those who could afford to purchase a few of them.

[ohohsee - i am in agreement of that, she is a complete nut. XD]
Toni was busy taking in the finer points of a weaponsmith's work when suddenly a shrill cheeping attacked her eardrum. Starting, she whirled around to find her young charge entrapped in a booth of delicate wire creatures. With a soft coo, she stood still, just drinking in the beautiful models. The old Trader who was working the booth was leaned back, idly polishing a tunnelsnake model, so Toni felt no qualms about staring.
'That one looks like Mosawyth!'
The mention of her dragon's name called Toni from her admiration of the sculptures, and dragged hazel eyes down to the preening dragon. It really did look like her Wyth, the half-furled wings and mossy green tint.
--Wyth. The Green, sunning herself, barely pulled herself from her nap and only stirred in response. But Toni knew that she was paying attention, and showed her the little creature. A rumble of amusement and admiration stirred through her mind, and Toni murmured, "She likes it."
Her dragon, a vain and self-centered creature that cared for nothing unless it was very important to her, loved to be complimented. In the old Weyr, many of the dragons wouldn't talk to her, so she had scorned them back. It made her admire herself all the more, and knowing that there was something that was as pretty as her out there... Well, of course there was. The man must have seen her fly and used her as a model.
A yelp as the girl captured her arm and dragged her over for a closer look, Toni blushed as the man looked up, offering his assistance. A quiet refusal, and he looked back at the snake, leaving her to deal with the weyrbrat.
"It's very pretty, Rhea. Wyth thinks he modeled it after her though, how perfect it is."
Her tone softened as she talked about her dragon, relaxing somehow, and with the warm conscience of her dragon pressing down, Toni found herself relaxing. At her belt the purse jingled, reminding her that the salary she carefully horded was begging to be spent. The girl wouldn't have any money, either... With a quiet pause, she turned to the man that was polishing the tunnelsnake. "Excuse me, sir? My dragon likes the little one."
The man grinned, and picked up the displayed creature. "Ah, he does?" Toni bobbed her head. "She does." The man nodded, and briskly began wrapping the creature. "Twenty marks." Just because she was shy and quiet didn't mean that she liked being cheated. "It's a pretty piece sir, but... It's not worth that much. Five marks." He snorted. "You try and cheat me, miss. Fifteen." Sighing, Toni worked on the man, finally handing him nine and a half marks and wrapping the tiny creature into her purse.
She turned to the girl, looking at her quietly."Rhea, as your charge, that means I'll buy you food and everything. But..." She hesitated, trying to phrase this properly. "You probably don't have much money. Let me give you ten marks, to spend as you want. That way you have something to remember the Gather by." [/sup]
