The flutter in Ravyna's stomach that rose in response to Treylis' words hardly had a chance to take hold, as she struggled to disentangle her firelizard. She attempted to tell the young Lordling how she wasn't really sure about other dragons, because she only so intimately knew her own ... She wanted to tell him that though in one way it made her feel just a little jealous that Igrainth so obviously adored him, on the other hand it really pleased her. She wanted to tell him that she really hoped he enjoyed dancing, because it had been so long since she'd had the opportunity.
Nuisance, of course, had other plans.
Treylis's ... and then his own little blue's ... efforts further confused matters, because the more 'hands' that joined in, the happier Nuisance became, and the happier Nuisance became, the more noise he made and the more frenzied his movements.
Finally, at Panther's vanishing between, the little bronze stopped stock still in surprise, hanging upside down in a web of his human's now impossibly tangled hair. Ravyna stood stock still for a moment....
... and burst out laughing.
The more she imagined how she must look, the harder she laughed, till tears were rolling down her cheeks. She laughed so hard that Igrainth began to romp and splash at the edge of the lake, rising on her hind limbs to wave her wings joyfully.
Ravyna leaped from the spray of water, hoping to keep her gown dry, and stumbled, falling against Treylis, while Nuisance, still hanging hopelessly inverted, continued to sing.

At least Panther had managed to accomplish something, Treylis thought grimly, for his blue's sudden disappearance had startled the bronze flitter into stillness. The scene this cessation of movement revealed, though, left the Lordling at a complete loss. Ravyna's neatly woven braid was now an indiscernable mass of shining black hair, with a bronze wing and other limbs protruding randomly from it. He had always known the fire lizards could be nuisances, but he'd never witnessed such mayhem. Ever.
"Are you..." he began, concern and bewilderment entering his tone, for the greenrider had frozen as well. Treylis ran a hand through his short hair, searching for words, for he was suddenly at a loss. He hoped that she wasn't embarrassed by this whole ordeal, as many women might have a near-fit at such a mess. Could he possibly convince her that a quick brushing could have those locks looking just as enchanting, braid or not?
He was saved the trouble of forming a logical sentence by a sudden awakening on Ravyna's part. Laughter was the last response Treylis had expected, so he merely gazed at her dumbfounded, watching her shoulders twitch from the force of her amusement. Despite the bizarre nature of this entire situation, he found her warm tones infectious, and the blissful warbling of the flitter topped it all off, bringing a grin to the candidate's face.
A hesitant chuckle formed in his throat, and another, heartier one, was beginning to follow at the sight of Igrainth beginning to romp, when Ravyna suddenly stumbled towards him. Instinctively, he reached out and clasped strong hands around her slender form, catching her against him. Treylis nearly stumbled himself, caught off guard as he was, but he was not a skinny fellow by any means and remained steady, supporting the greenrider. For a moment, he gazed down at her, surprised by the depth of colour in her eyes, for they appeared quite uniform at first glance...and suddenly he was holding her out at arm's length, a flash of discomfort flying across his face. He had never...well, she was...ladies didn't...not with Treylis...
"I, uh..." Treylis cleared his throat, suddenly finding the water and sky far more interesting than her enchanting features. Luckily, Panther saved him the trial of trying to finish that statement, reappearing with a chunk of raw meat clasped in his claws. A moment later, it landed with an unpleasant squelch on the top of the candidate's head, and the blue fluttered off to chitter indignantly from Igrainth's back. He could, too, help!
"Perfect," the candidate muttered, grabbing the meat and holding it out to entice the bronze. "I guess neither of us are fit for a Gather now..." Treylis hardly entertained the thought that Ravyna would still want to go after that. He suddenly almost hoped she wouldn't...there was dancing at a Gather...and closeness...and he was so imperfect... "Although I could just rinse this off..." What was he saying? What did he want?!

Ravyna was somewhat startled when Treylis, though he did so in a gentlemanly fashion, pushed away from her. Had she not still been trying to get a firelizard out of her hair, she might have even been ... hurt!
However, when Panther showed up with the meat and dropped it on the young man's head, the ridiculous situation struck her again, and she had all she could do not to giggle.
Giggle? Her? What WAS it about this man? Was it Igrainth's (who was still dancing and splashing on the water's edge) infatuation with him?
Treylis's "... I could rinse this off," however, sounded like it might be (or was she imagining it?) just slightly hopeful, so, as Nuisance finally oozed himself out of the tangles (taking almost a handful of hair, torn out by the roots, with him) to dive for the meat, Ravyna allowed herself a genuine smile.
"I'll tell you what," she said, almost gingerly, for the emotions between them seemed to be very easily toppled. "Igrainth will drop you off at your quarters, take me back to our weyr, we'll both ... tidy up ... and I'll pick you up just outside the barracks in ... fifteen? I mean ... if you still want to go."
She was practically holding her breath, hopeful, expectant, desperately wanting him to say yes ... and without a clue why.

It was with unwittingly bated breath that Treylis awaited Ravyna's reply. Although he was staring fixedly at the bronze fire lizard as if willing it out of her hair, the tantalizing meat gripped loosely in his fingertips, the Lordling was aware of nothing but her response. The sound of her soft giggle as the flitter worked his way out of the tangled mess brought a slow smile to his reserved features, but the smile quickly vanished as he winced at the sight of the hair still tangled in the bronze's claws as it lunged for the meat. Not wanting those claws to then find a hold on him, he quickly tossed the meat to the side, anticipating that the bronze would follow.
"That must have hurt...sharding flitter..." he began, then stopped as she started to speak. Only then did he allow his gaze to rise, meeting her eyes with surprising hesitation. The smile he received in exchange was bright enough to make him feel rather lightheaded. Her careful speech put him on guard, but the conclusion was exactly what he wanted to hear. She still wanted to go. Did he?
"Of course!" Treylis exclaimed before clamping his mouth shut in surprise and turning abruptly to look at Igrainth. He was suddenly embarrassed by the excitement that was likely flashing in his eyes, although the green dragon's antics threatened to summon that grin right back. He wondered which would be worse...for Ravyna to think he was excited to be going with her, or for her to realize his plan to speak with the other Lord Holders.
"Yes, I do want to go," he finished, tone restored to its evenness and calm. "Don't worry about ferrying me to the Barracks...it's a short enough walk. I'll be ready," he added, a hint of anticipation creeping into his voice once more. And with that, afraid that she might somehow change her mind, he turned and began walking across the Bowl. Panther squawked and swooped after him, landing neatly on the Lordling's shoulder and striking a dignified pose.

Ravyna tucked Nuisance firmly under her arm, mentally willing him to behave himself for a change, and smiled broadly at Treylis' acceptance.
"Wonderful, fifteen, then! I'll meet you right outside the barracks door!"
Igrainth half soared, half hopped over to join them. I am taking my friend to the Gather! she said, her eyes whirling with sparks of happiness.
Yes, my Love, you certainly are!
Ravyna stroked the side of her green's lovely face, and placed a kiss on her muzzle.
[[OOC: shall we jump to landing at the Gather itself?]]
