The signs of discomfort in T'ryis' body language only bothered Ravyna a little. After all, she thought affectionately, he's just being T'ryis. The idea that she'd gotten to know this man well enough to become accustomed to his actions pleased her. She understood that he was very unlike his charming and gregarious brother, who was, to be truthful, more the type that she would have dallied with in the past. But there was something about this one ... And not just that my dragon has a crush on him.....
Her thoughts had taken her inside herself for the moment, as she stood so close, making no effort to remove her hand (even if she could) from his neck. He understood the need to wait, as well. Of course he did, Wickhath was and would always be, from this point on, his priority. That thought warmed her through and through, even though the chill wind still tousled her short dark hair.
Even the thought that Ravyna saw "waiting" as something necessary and manageable brought her a smile. How different it was to be a dragonrider.
And then he said words that took her out of her reverie, drawing her flashing eyes to his with a fleet moment of emotion that was almost as intense as the love she felt for Igrainth.
"But you're worth the wait."
She opened her mouth to reply, but before she could speak, a blue streak appeared before her. A very angry blue streak!
Nuisance squealed as Panther challenged him. The bronze, though larger and probably, should he test the theory, stronger than the blue, was no fighter. He dug in claws for traction and pushed off from the brownrider's head, forgetting that still had a tight grip on Ravyna's wrist. As he leapt, his tail pulled free, though it rubbed roughly around the girl's arm, leaving a red friction burn in its place.
"Ah, you are SUCH a Nuisance!" she shouted, pulling her wrist against her for protection.
The bronze buzzed around her head, trying to hide from the angry blue, and Ravyna ducked and bobbed to avoid flailing tails and talons.
"You! Go do that somewhere else!"
Igrainth, speeding through the water, surfaced in the very center of the lake. She turned toward the shore very reluctantly. Odd feelings were coming, strong ones, from Hers. Feelings that were interrupting her fun. Though concerned, she couldn't help sounding just a touch grumpy as she sent, What is wrong? to Ravyna.
At that moment Nuisance, who was actually obeying for a change, vanished from Ravyna's side, and appeared directly in front of the green dragon. He screeched piteously and fluttered at her face, begging her to protect him.
