((Note to all who haven't read the Hatching Feast yet as well as an apology for lapsing out of time...Sr. Weyrlings are now Full Riders as of a sevenday ago, so we'll just pretend the countless mentions of 'Sr. Weyrling' in this thread are really 'Full Rider', lol!))
Mmmm, roasted herdbeast had never tasted so good. Another piece had sent its juices oozing down his chin as M'kel slapped awkwardly at his shoulder with a hand coated in cream. This was far more sharding difficult than he had thought it would be! If only he was as flexible as those performers at Gathers, or if he had a little help...
...And Calysta appeared, like magic, greeting him cheerily. With one hand splayed across his stomach and the other reaching futilely over his shoulder, M'kel was caught in a thoroughly embarrassing position, hastily reaching up to wipe away the juice from the roasted meat that was still on his chin (and leaving a streak of cream in its place). He nodded in turn, "And a good afternoon to you, too, Calysta." Being Weyrleader and all, the bronzerider made a point of knowing the names of all of the dragonriders (a great accomplishment for M'kel). The names of the loveliest ladies may come more easily than others, but one could hardly blame him for that.
One could also hardly blame him for allowing his eyes to drift down her appealing form, for it was quite obvious that she was dressed to please. M'kel nearly didn't respond to her query, distracted as he was. That scarf was a neat trick, there. He wondered briefly why he hadn't noticed this stunning lass before, until he realized that she had been a Weyrling up until quite recently.
Suddenly, he realized that she had asked him a question some time ago now, and he hadn't made any move to reply. "Hm?" M'kel mumbled hastily, glancing back up to meet her eyes. He scrambled for a moment, trying to recall the question, before a broad smile broke over his face. "Oh yes, m'dear, I would appreciate that very much." His charming smile widened, as he held up a jar of cream. "It is quite a trial trying to reach certain areas, such as between my shoulders. Definitely not a job for one person alone..." His eyes were wide with innocent helplessness, though they sparked with mischievousness all the while.
Just then, another lovely greenrider who was excellent at catching his attention strolled over. M'kel's eyes widened further, although this time in surprise at his good luck. He nodded in greeting to Skye, wondering if she was still upset at him over past grievances, also rather curious to see if she would be jealous of Calysta's attentions...or, if he was really lucky, perhaps he would have TWO lovely ladies spreading cream on his back. "Certainly, there's plenty for everyone," he replied, awaiting her response to the situation.
OH MY, Tirenth interrupted loudly, a cloud of bubbles rising from his secretive position under water.
What? M'kel asked, nose wrinkling somewhat in displeasure. As if you wouldn't love having two greens fawn afer you.
Tirenth ignored this, choosing just this moment to sweep out of the water, creating a huge wave as he erupted forth, and engulfing both Lancetoth and Gwynevith (as well as their riders!). He bugled in triumph before diving beneath the waves again, a sly thief disappearing into the shadows.

Calysta smiled brightly when M'kel acknowledged her, one brow arching slightly as he smeared meat juice and cream on his chin. She reached out and carefully smoothed the cream from his chin, still smiling and her honey brown eyes sparkling.
She noticed his eyes slipping lower and her smile widened, she had dressed the way she had for a reason and she was pleased to see that it was working. Also, now that she was a full rider she didn't have to worry about being a flirt.
She took the jar from him and laughed softly, nodding. "I agree, that can be the hardest place to reach. Perhaps after I have helped you, you could return the favor?" she asked, tilting her head slightly with a playful wink. She glanced up as the other woman approached, looking between her and M'kel.
Calysta nodding in greeting, her smile still in place as this woman looked her over as well. She normally didn't encourage that, but well, what could it hurt to allow it? She glanced the older green rider up and down slowly, usually she didn't like to share either, but well it was a free day after all. "You are turning a bit red," she said, shifting to stand more behind M'kel as she dipped her fingertips into the cool cream.
She reached out to begin smoothing the cream between the Weyrleader's shoulders, rubbing it in so that it would protect him from the sun.

Skye tilted her head slightly at both their greetings, smiling. She enjoyed the view before her, M'kel a handsome man and Calysta a beautiful young woman. She had seen Calysta around the weyr as a Weyrling, but the Senior weyrlings were now full riders.
She looked up at M'kel and regarded him for a long moment. She was still a bit upset with the man, but he had been drunk at the Gather dance and probably not thinking clearly.
Yes, thats probably what it had been and he didn't want to get in trouble with Sitareh by being caught with her again. She smiled brightly at that, willing to forgive the bronze rider once more.
And besides, if he angered her again she could always spirit this young woman away. She really wanted to learn how to do that with a scarf!
"Well, then could I ask you to help me put it on? The back is a hard place to reach," she said, smiling as she placed a hand on M'kel's arm, watching Calysta for a moment before looking up at M'kel's face, her emerald green eyes sparkling with a mischievous light.
She noted the cream was still rather a thick on the bronze rider's chest and set about smoothing the cream in gently, he would look rather silly with a pale splotch on his chest and the rest of him tanned golden.

Alana grinned as D’gellin and Lancetoth were submerged by Gwynevith’s wave, and the queenrider patted the gold’s foreleg affectionately. “Now that was a good one!” She commented, chuckling. Yes, I believe we got them quite well. Perhaps such actions are beneath my dignity, but we cannot allow them to splash us without punishment. Gwynevith responded, her mindvoice colored with humor. “Indeed, we couldn’t allow that.” Replied the tall girl beside the dragon, and she folded her arms over her chest as D’gellin reemerged.
Her grin widened as D’gellin began to call on his bronze to return the splash, and she darted behind Gwynevith’s large foreleg to protect herself. However, the action proved to be unnecessary, as rather than splash them, the bronze looked frightened, and his rider suddenly moved to him. Alana’s eyes narrowed slightly in concern, but the expression vanished as it proved to be nothing more than a fish on the dragon’s back.
Hmph, it is silly to be afraid of a fish. Gwynevith commented, a bit disappointed that their fun had ended because of it. Oh, you’d do the same thing if you couldn’t tell what was on you! Alana teased, causing the gold to snort in indignation. I would not! She responded fiercely, so that Alana held up her hands in submission. Alright, alright, if you say so, dear. She assuaged the gold, although the fact that she was laughing didn’t really help.
“Well, you never know what could be lurking in the ocean!” She called to the laughing bronzerider. “Although I think the dolphins made sure the area was clear.”
Yet then, out of nowhere, something burst out of the water. Alana didn’t see what it was, for at that moment, a massive wave crashed over her, leaving her floundering in the water. Something pushed her toward the surface, and she smiled thankfully at Gwynevith, coughing slightly due to the unexpected dunking. “Well, apparently not all suspicious sea creatures were cleared out! Who was that, anyway?” Tirenth, I believe. We shall have to get revenge on him and his for that! The gold replied, scanning the water for a sign of the bronze.

A’clayr was running to hit the ball when the greenrider landed behind him, suddenly spraying his backside with sand. He whirled around, surprised, and the ball fell to the ground just beside him. Now I am winning, mine. The brown teased, although as he saw the green, he tried to salvage his dignity by adjusting his posture, dipping his head and spreading his wings slightly in what almost looked like a bow to the green. She probably thinks I look ridiculous, bouncing inflated sacks off my nose like a trained pet. He lamented, but looked up in surprise at Elainuth’s words.
She wanted to play too? “Sure, you’re welcome to join us if you wish!” A’clayr was first to answer, spreading his arms graciously. We would be honored. Atoth added to the green, feeling a bit better about the game knowing that another dragon was interested. A’clayr searched his memory for a name to pair to the young rider’s face. He had seen her around the weyr, he was certain, but who was she? Ah, he remembered seeing her playing an instrument in the Lower Caverns on occasion…Minelli? That was it.
“It’s alright, I don’t mind the sand.” The brownrider replied with a grin, although he was sure there must be sand in his hair, and it was a bit uncomfortable. “So what do you think, me and Atoth against you and your lovely green?”

Oh, they're letting us play! Thank you! The last statement was sent to the brown, a draconic smile accompanying it. It was very heartfelt, as it normally was with the dreamer green.
Minelli laughed. "Sure. That seems fair." She slipped off of the green's neck in a practiced motion, landing lightly on the sand. The green backed up a pace or two. "Do you know how to play, Elainuth?"
She snorted, making her rider giggle. Of course I do, Mine! We'll beat Atoth and his for sure! She already knew how it would all unravel. Minelli rolled her eyes at the enthuasiastic green. "You're going ahead of yourself, love," she commented silently before smiling at A'clayr.
She took a moment to get into position. "After you." He could start the game. It was on!

I do so like fish! Just not the sneaky ones that hide on my back flopping around. Have you ever had a fish flopping on your back, Degellinmine? It is a rather strange experience! Lancetoth huffed in his exaggerated way, slapping his long tail against the water in agitation. Still laughing, D'gellin held a hand up to block the water that Lancetoth's frustrated action splashed. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" He chortled. "No really! I am." He added with at least an effort (however futile) of covering his amusement. Lancetoth snorted in skepticism but relented, not caring for animosity. Did Gwynevith see that? He added in an undertone, even though the inquiry was between only rider and bonded. D'gellin coughed on a hidden laugh. Hardly, considering the way you were dancing around.
D'gellin turned to Alana, biting back a smile that refused to stay in check. "Apparently not. They forgot the itty bitty little ones. I've heard tell that they're quite scary." They are not scary! Lancetoth protested and then, for the gold's benefit, or rather to preserve his ego, he added aloud They are most certainly not scary. I was not frightened. Only surprised.
However, before Lancetoth could further press his case (and dig himself into a deeper hole) a sudden wave crashed over them. Startled, D'gellin automatically latched on to Lancetoth's forearm. "By the first egg!" He exclaimed, head whipping around in search of the splash's source. "What just happened?" He asked, already laughing again. Was that-? No, it wasn't Gwynevith! It was Tirenth! Lancetoth replied in surprise, ideas of getting back at the older bronze already forming in his mind. Well where'd he get to? D'gellin asked, looking around. He is underwater. Lancetoth's eyes followed the quickly fading shape of Tirenth under the surface. Then, speaking aloud to Gwynevith, Dear clutch-sister, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Lancetoth inquired with what could only be the draconic equivalent of a sly smile.

Atoth moved closer to A’clayr as Minelli and Elainuth took their positions on the other side of the net. Alright Atoth, we’ll beat them, won’t we? A’clayr commented as he prepared to serve the ball. We shouldn’t go too hard on them though, mine. The dragon replied, earning a quizzical look from his rider. Well, aren’t you quite the gentleman. He chided, smiling to show that he meant it in jest. I suppose I can’t blame you, after all, Elainuth is a beautiful green…
Atoth merely snorted, deciding not to indulge his rider by refuting the lad’s implications. He would have suggested the same for any female! Not to say that Elainuth wasn’t a lovely dragon…
A’clayr’s smile unintentionally turned wry as he watched his brown cast a second look at the green. He was glad Atoth was young, much too young to be cause for worry of having any great interest in a female dragon yet. It wasn’t the idea of flights he minded, but A’clayr knew all too well that at least with people, love wasn’t as great as it first seemed. No, that was one path he never wanted to travel again, surely! But what would happen if Atoth someday had his heart set on another dragon?
Mine, are you going to start the game or not? Atoth broke in, his voice quite polite despite his words. A’clayr looked up at once, grinning apologetically at both the brown and the greenrider pair across from him, and quickly moved to hit the ball. “Ok, here it comes!” He called, and his fist collided with the inflated sack.
In his haste, however, he had not taken the time to properly aim, and he watched in surprise as the ball veered off to the side, away from the court. Well, that would be a pain, he supposed he’d have to go and get it. But…following the ball’s course through the air with his eyes, A’clayr’s eyes widened in horror as he realized that it was headed straight for M’kel! Oh Faranth, and there the Weyrleader was, clearly enjoying the company of two women…‘Shards’ just didn’t seem to do justice to the situation. If there was one thing A’clayr hated, it was conflict, and this was sure to get him in trouble…

((I am so sorry about my delay with this post...gah! Apparently settling into University takes a long time. And who is chucking balls at M'kel's head?!))
Oh my. This must be a dream. Surely, at any moment, he would roll over and open his eyes to see an empty bed in a lonely weyr. Or if this wasn't a dream, it was certainly luck that couldn't last. At any moment, a feline would pounce on him from the bushes and drag him off screaming, or Thread would suddenly re-appear to eat him alive. Either way, there was no way this could last!
What exactly was M'kel going on about? Oh, nothing out of the ordinary, of course. Simply the fact that two stunning women were showering him with attentions that were all too enticing. Simply the fact that soft hands were caressing his bare back and chest, and that no matter where he turned, there was a pair of alluring eyes and a sway of marvelous hips.
Yup, he was definitely going to die.
"You ladies are too kind. I dare say I don't deserve such benevolent care," M'kel murmured, eyes sparking as he glanced from one to the other. "If the pair of you are feeling rather spent after this tiresome effort under Rukbat's endless heat, I happen to know of a lovely patch of shade just a short distance into the jungle. I'm sure the repose would be quite beneficiary for all three of us." Okay, now he was REALLY pushing it. But he couldn't help it! What if this did just so happen to be his luckiest day on all of Pern...he couldn't let it pass him by!
And then, as promised, death came. The means was one that the Weyrleader never could have guessed. Who would have thought that the strapping young man, full of life and vigour, would be done in by...an inflated sack. A shadow passed over his face, and M'kel turned innocently, oblivious to the fell blow fast approaching. There was only a moment for his eyes to widen, his limbs to go rigid with fear, before it struck. The effect was immediate, as he plunged to the side, face planting firmly in the sand. The inflated sack bounced off, unaware of the calamity it had just caused. And M'kel was left lying there, a strange blackness seeping over him as lights danced in front of his eyes. Was this indeed death, come for him in his brightest of moments?

Gaylen had finally crept away. A party, there had been talk of a party, and she was so tired of people keeping tabs on her. She was aware that she'd had an increase of problems recently, and after C'lyn's wonderful medicine had made things so much easier for her, to have a relapse was very disturbing. Alabanth hovered about her continually, and the infirmary workers had kindly been shadowing her, protecting her from herself.
But a party! She wandered down the rocky path to the beach, smiling at the laughter and play on the sands below. The shadow overhead cast both its shade and its concerns over her ... with the great expanse of water and the confusion of the party, after all, it would be harder to respond quickly should Gaylen have another brainspell.
It's a good day, 'Banth, she complained to her dragon, glancing up momentarily at his hovering form. I haven't had a spell all day, it's a good day to actually seek out some enjoyment!
As she reached the sands, she kicked off her sandals and picked them up, enjoying the feel of the hot silky grains as they ran over the tops of her feet and between her toes.
I am very uneasy, Mine, the elder blue dragon said, as he settled to the beach alongside her. His whirling eyes marked his emotions clearly.
Gaylen stroked his silken shoulder. Why, 'Banth? I'm going to be okay. And there are plenty of people and dragons here to assist if anything should happen.
Alabanth startled and spun his head suddenly toward movement in the air as the inflated sack went whizzing over the sands.
We should have stayed in the Weyr, the blue said, head swiveling back and forth as if to make note of everyone on the beach. What if you have a spell while you are in the water?
I promise I won't go into the water without you, my love, the rider said, and leaned into Alabanth. Just then the smell of roasting meats reached her nostrils. And it'll be a while before I do that, anyway, because I'm about to fill my belly! And everyone knows you should wait a while to swim after you eat!
Gaylen headed toward the smell of cooking, waving to riders and weyrfolk she passed on the way. She adored her dragon more than life itself ... but he could be a bit overprotective at times!
